After hanging up the phone, Zuo Jia looked uneasy and asked in a weak voice, "Dai classmate, why did you lie to Teacher Shan?"

Dai Shiyuan raised an eyebrow with a smug look on her face and gave the reason she had already thought of, "I'm not a child anymore. I don't want to be constantly controlled by others."

"But this will make Teacher Shan worry," Zuo Jia blinked her eyes and looked worried, "Teacher Shan is so gentle and kind. It's not right for us to deceive her like this..."

At these words, Dai Shiyuan frowned and slowed down her serious tone to ask, "Do you really think she's gentle and kind? Haven't you noticed her eyes sometimes look cold? And she occasionally says some sarcastic remarks."

Zuo Jia tilted her head in confusion, as if she didn't understand, and said softly, "Teacher Shan is a very nice person. She's the kindest person I've ever met...And what does 'sarcastic remarks' mean?"

Dai Shiyuan suddenly realized that this was a phrase from a book ten years ago and not a commonly used term.

She twitched the corner of her mouth and gave up on this topic.

In everyone's eyes, the heroine is a gentle and kind person who always considers others.

Even if she were to tell others that the heroine would eventually become a cold and ruthless career woman who makes a comeback, no one would believe her.

Dai Shiyuan silently sighed.

The innocent and pitiful image of the heroine is too deeply ingrained in people's minds. She can't change it with just a few words.

"Dai Shiyuan, Teacher Shan sent me a message asking you to call her back," Zuo Jia suddenly said nervously after a moment of silence.

Dai Shiyuan calmly nodded and turned on her phone after a while.

There were several missed calls, including one from her father. Dai Shiyuan directly dialed his number and he answered quickly.

"Xiaoyuan, is everything going smoothly at school?" Dai's father asked warmly.

Dai Shiyuan listened carefully to his tone and found no trace of urgency.

It seems that the fact that the heroine couldn't reach her on the phone didn't get reported to her father.

This made her feel a little relieved.

"Dad, thank you for your concern. Everything is fine here," Dai Shiyuan answered obediently with a happy tone in her voice.

Dai's father was relieved and chuckled, "Xiaoyuan has grown up. From now on, you won't be by dad's side. If you are ever mistreated at school, tell dad. Our family's little princess can't be bullied."

"Thank you, Dad. No one will bully me," Dai Shiyuan felt warm in her heart and her eyes curved into a smile.

After chatting for a few more intimate words, Dai's father had to attend a meeting and hung up the phone.

Dai Shiyuan looked at her phone and within this short time, there were two more missed calls from the heroine.

She pursed her lips and reluctantly returned her call.

"Xiaoyuan, I have some free time now. Is there anything else I can help you with in your dorm?" Shan Yaxin asked in a gentle voice, full of concern.

"No, thank you," Dai Shiyuan replied coldly.

She didn't need the female lead's help, nor did she want it. Keeping their distance was the best thing.

Hearing the resistance and indifference in Dai Shiyuan's words, Shan Yaxin lowered her eyes and asked, "Xiaoyuan, do you seem to dislike your sister-in-law? Did she do something to make you hate her?"
