Aiden's POV
The deadline for the poems is tomorrow and I still have nothing.

I walked to the direction of the Tv room where i could hear mom laugh at whatever show she was watching

"hey georgous" i pecked her cheek then sat next to her

"hey to you too" she smiled "how was school"

"it was alright. How was physiotherapy? any progress?" i looked at her feet with a slight frown

she wiggled her toes "it was alright. Don't worry you will be the first to know if i made significant progress" she smiled brightly, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze

My frown slightly deepened "mom?"

"hmm?" she hummed a response turning her attention back to the TV

I stared at her hand in mine "Why haven't you told me the full story of what happened to your legs? i've never pried but as i get older i just keep getting curious" i blurted out my thoughts in a voice just barely above a whisper

when she didn't respond, I lifted my eyes to hers and immediately regreted asking when i saw the tears forming in her eyes. I began shaking my head but before i could stop her from answering she smiled through the tears

"Oh my little boy, you've grown so much." she sighed " It was just a really bad day for me. well the beginning of worse days to come"

i stayed silent "it was a cool night, i know i haven't told you this but it was your father driving" my brows shot up in suprise " we were on our way back from a date. We were in deep conversation, the car was filled with laughter. We had reached a cross road, we both checked there was no car in sight so naturally anyone would proceed... B-by the time we were half way to the other side, lights filled the car from my side blinding me in the process... it was already too late for your father to do anything.. next thing i knew was....." she choked at the end and i hugged her tightly knowing what came after that

"thank God you're okay" i whispered

when she was calm, she looked up at me. I could tell she wanted to say something. Guilt and saddness flooded her eyes. She opened her mouth to say something but she was interapted "Kairah, tu bano esta listo( your bath is ready}" Belinda folded her arms with a lifted brow at her

Mom sighed then smiled at me. Bella came and helped her on her wheel chair and pushed her away "Estabas a punto de contarle lo que paso? Sabes que tienes que dejar que lo averigue por su cuenta(were you about to tell him what happened? You know you have to let him find out on his own)" she whispered something i didn't quite get

...

I bet dad has been feeling guilty for a long period of time

i sighed for the 10th time since i came to my room. I've been trying to write a poem ever since two and still, i have nothing.

i tapped my pen on the blank paper in thought. A knock brought me back to reality "come in" i turned my chair around

"Don't mind me, i'm just gonna put away these clothes" Belinda said putting down the laundry basket. She walked to my closet and put away my clean clothes "so how is school going? is that your homework"

"school's fine. This is a poem that's due tomorrow and i still have nothing" i sighed and rested my head on my palm "sometimes I wonder why I chose English lit"

she walked up to my desk and stared at my blank sheet of paper "hmm... why are't you just searching up a poem you like?"

"I have to write something that inspires me and plagiarized work is an offense" i sighed in frustration
