Blurred bulbs of red and green fill my vision, dancing across barren trees and house awnings.
They greet me as old friends as I lay my head against the cool, frosty window and close my eyes.
Subtle music echos through the soul-warming space, and my siblings laugh at little jokes.
A feeling of warmth encompasses me, hugging me with its arms of liquid happiness.
Then, a familiar feeling takes hold; a mourning for the loss of the year, but a celebration of the one to come.
I open my eyes as we turn down the street, and my friends of cheer once again come into view.
As I step out of the car, I take a breath of air.
It clears my senses, nodding at my loss.
I realize that this welcomed, yet strange feeling will come again soon, and my blurred, red and green friends will join me again once more.
