The day will not end
The screams will not cease
The slaughter will not stop
Why do the soldiers still fight?
They cannot feels their broken bones
Their punctured organs
Their broken minds
They just keep fighting
As dead cover dead
Their supplies are taken
And the live use the dead
To try to stop the endless flow
Of weapon fire and enemy lines
They don't understand
That fighting will not lead to peace
That slaughter will not lead to happiness
And I can but dream
For a day when guns are put down
And the soldiers are allowed to rest for the first time in years
Instead of throwing themselves to Death
