Royal Courtroom, Palace of Buscanen, Signuno, Kingdom of Esperanto, Grameus Continent

The Buscanen Palace was an absolute architectural masterpiece. With its pointed arches, rib vaults and flying buttresses, a man from earth might recognise it as "gothic architecture". Indeed, the palace was built to stand out from the surrounding buildings. While not on the level of Paradis Palace, it is most likely still one of the most beautiful buildings on this world.

In the courtroom, King Zamenhof XXVII of house Esperanto met up with high marshal Vidoja Klipic. They now discuss what the outpost regions had reported.

"Are you sure this is true? They received a lot of Oni refugees?" Zamenhof XXVII asked. He could not believe what he was hearing.

"'Afraid so, your highness. Earlier yesterday, several hundred Oni refugees popped up on one of our outposts. Apparently Heiskanen has been attacked,'" Klipic said.

"Attacked? By who?" Zamenhof XXVII asked.

"'They're claiming that the demon lord is back.'"

That caught Zamenhof XXVII's attention.

"The- the demon lord? Nosgorath is back?," he asked.

"'Apparently,'" Klipic said.

"Then prepare the men for war, things are going to get very messy soon," Zamenhof said. "Wait, how long ago did he return?

"'About a week, according to refugees,'" Klic said.

"A week? Tha- that's impossible," Zamenhof said. "How did they take down an entire nation in seven days?"

"'According to the refugees, they did it in one. The demon lord managed to mind control half of the Oni to do his bidding. The other half either tried to fight or fled,'" Klic explained.

"WHAT THE FUCK," Zamenhof said. He just couldn't believe a race as strong as the Oni could get mind controlled to this degree. "If that happened to us, we wouldn't even be able to put up a fight, what the fuck do we do?"

"'I…I don't know, your highness. Nobody knows,'" Klic said.

Ruins of Vourle, Empire of Parpaldia

The locomotive came to a stop at Vourle station. The town was covered in even more vegetation since the last train passed through. It was by sheer luck alone that no trees had sprouted and destroyed the railway.

In the locomotive, the four soldiers and an engineman had already put on their hazmat suits.

"""Man, these suits really aren't made for comfort, are they? I can barely operate machinery like this,""" the engineman said, somewhat complaining.

"Well, unless you want to be infected by spores and transform into some undead abomination, I suggest you keep it on," Alexis said. "Right, remember the plan. Timothé, you're with me, we go in, grab the damned mushrooms and get out, no funny business. Mathys and Jonas, protect the damned train. We need to make sure we can get out of here as soon as possible."

Alexis and Timothé got off the train, and started walking towards the designated location, where the highest concentrations of mushrooms are.

"'You know, this mission sounds utterly ridiculous, sending out soldiers to go pluck mushroom while wearing this ridiculous outfit,'" Timothé said.

"Save your breath, Timothé, you're gonna need it when we run into the undead," Alexis said, wanting him to shut up.

"'Look,'" Timothé said, pointing into an alleyway. "'Mushroom.'"
