Trembling breaths escaped Diana's chapped lips, her heart beating wildly in her chest as if she just finished a triathlon. She sat outside her cabin curled into a ball with her hands wrapped as far around her shoulders as they could reach, squeezing tightly. It was a calming technique used to help calm people with anxiety or autism. It wasn't doing much for Diana, but she did it anyways.

Flashes from the dream that startled her into consciousness kept popping up in her mind despite her intentions to ignore them. It was like she was playing wack-a-mole with her thoughts. She couldn't remember much about the dream, but the bits and pieces that she could remember were so vivid, it still startled her despite being fully awake.

An animal that bared many similarities to that of a wolf growling and snapping so close to her face she could smell its hot breath and feel the specks of slobber that landed on her face. The fur on its snout was an ashen black.

Two hands the color of teakwood, covered in goosebumps, reaching out desperately towards something Diana couldn't see. She could even feel a bitter, unforgivingly cold wind blow over her as if the hands reaching out were her own.

A long thread of gold so pure it looked like it was glowing, appearing to have no beginning and no end, tightly winding around her every limb until her body went numb.

That was when she awoke.

Diana didn't know why these dreams scared her so much, especially the last one (though arguably, the first one was the scariest), all she knew was that she didn't want to sleep anymore. Despite being exhausted, Diana went about her day as usual hoping no one would comment on the darkness under her eyes.

"Now that you're familiar with the basic moves, we're going to take the next few minutes to partner up and drill them," Luke called out and it didn't take long until there weren't many people left.

In the week and a half that Percy had been at camp, Diana found that his presence felt very normal and familiar as if he was a classmate she'd known since kindergarten. Diana wondered if she should be weirded out by it. They were still awkward and shy with one another, and Diana still struggled to maintain eye contact with him, but they had begun eating together during breakfast and sitting on the docks together after campfire.

Diana started toward her friend Nina, another undetermined camper, but she spotted Percy standing awkwardly and looking around aimlessly. His eyes found hers and before she knew it she was making her way over to him.

"Hi," she greeted shyly.

"Hey," He responded with a grin. "Do you, uh- since there's not a lot of other people, would you want to be my partner? Maybe?" Percy winced internally, but thankfully, she nodded.

People found Diana adorable, so it was hard for her to be intimidating and though most wouldn't assume so at first glance, she was a pretty good fighter (she'd hope so after being at camp for half her life.) Due to her short stature, coming up to a whopping 4'8, she was fast. Since childhood, Diana had always been light on her feet. She was quick and quiet. When she started training, Chiron and Luke taught her to use it to her advantage.
