We begin in the early 1999

Sitting at the kitchen table, Stevie stared at the calendar on the wall. It was currently January, which meant that she had only a few months left until the wedding. Her own wedding. She shook herself mentally, remembering just how much there was still to do, and opened up her massive binder. Planning a tour was much easier, not that she had to do a lot with it. She had promised to take time off after she came off the road last year, though. Again, she had to remind herself to push any thought of performing out of her mind as well.

They had decided on a simple ceremony at first, only close friends and family. However, the more time they spent talking about the wedding, the bigger the plans soon became. Stevie liked to believe that this was it, she didn't count the mess that she got herself into over a decade ago. The small intimate venue grew larger in space as did the guest list. Whatever you want, her fiancé said, as long as it makes you happy

The doorbell interrupted Stevie about an hour later after she'd sat down. She wasn't expecting anyone. Pushing the chair back, Stevie got up on her feet and went to answer the door. Finding Mick Fleetwood on her doorstep brought a smile to her face.

"What a pleasant surprise." Stevie opened her arms for a hug.

"I'm glad you think so." Mick joked, closing the door behind him. "I hope, I'm not interrupting."

"No, not at all." She shook her head and walked Mick into the kitchen. "Can I get you anything?"

"Sure, coffee sounds good." He nodded and took a seat, eyeing all the wedding stuff lying around. "This still going on?"

"Mick." Stevie gave him a look, moving to the stove to put the kettle on. "Yes, I'm still getting married and yes, you're still invited."

"I thought, you said, it wasn't anything serious."

"I did say that two years ago, but as you can see, it's no longer the case." Stevie shrugged, leaning against a kitchen counter. "What brings you here today?" She asked changing the subject.

"Just driving by, thought I'd stop, say hello." Mick lied and she could tell. "I was just at Lindsey's."

Stevie sighed and turned her back to Mick, she rose on her tiptoes to take out two cups. "How's he doing?"

"Not so great." Mick's honest answer surprised her. "Have you talked to him lately?"

"Can't say that I have." Stevie shook her head, trying to stop herself from asking too many questions. She didn't want to get involved. Again. "I figured, he's busy with his son."

"Oh, he definitely is."

Stevie frowned. There was something Mick was holding back, but she was not going to ask. "Well, the baby is what, six months? I'm sure, it's not supposed to be easy."

"I think, he'd like it if you checked in." Mick pointed out and thanked for the coffee when Stevie brought it over. "You seemed to have gotten closer during the last tour."

"That's exactly the reason why I don't think I should reach out, Mick. You know that." Stevie sat down with a sigh. "I'm just... I'm getting married to someone else. That's what I need to focus on and I bet Lindsey doesn't want to hear anything about it."

"Still, couldn't hurt if you-"

"I thought, I heard voices." The two were interrupted by Michael. "I didn't know you were coming over." He said to Mick, holding his hand out.

"Uh, yeah. I was just driving by." Mick lied again, forcing a smile as he shook Michael's hand. "I'm sorry, I can't stay. I've got a busy day today." He stood up, gave Stevie a quick hug goodbye and was on his way out.

"What's up with him?" Michael asked.

"Nothing. Just Mick being Mick." Stevie tried to laugh it off, the words Mick had whispered in her ear before he left echoing in her head.
