Just as I thought life couldn't get any better, my life spiralled down hill. I waved Goose off for the mission he had with Maverick, just like usual. When Maverick returned I greeted him with a hug, his eyes were red from crying,
"Maverick are you alright? And where's Goose?!" I had a worried expression
"There's no easy way to say this for any of us" Maverick replied "Goose is dead"
I felt tears in my eyes and I quickly covered my mouth, my world had been turned upside down by three words. I hugged him tightly as I wondered how I would tell my 3-year-old that his father was dead.
That night, I held my son in my arms and said
"Dad is in a better place now, you won't see him again but he will see you, he will watch over you and guard you" I still had tears in my eyes
"Why are you crying then?" Bradley said innocently
"Because I will miss him." I kissed Bradley's forehead
"So will I, I love Daddy"
"So do I, son."
