Chapter Eleven

I woke up with a jolt. I couldn't remember anything that happened last night. My head was throbbing and my ears were ringing.

Why did I have to get drunk with Cassidy last night? It was so out of character for me. I had been feeling weird all week though and maybe at the time I thought that, that would make me feel better.

I'm such an idiot. No I was confused and had the hangover from Hell. How did I even get home?

I searched for some Tylenol and quickly took them. I glanced at the clock and nearly choked on the tablets. I am in so much trouble.

It was mid-day! I was supposed to be at the gym to train from 8 onwards. Maxxie was going to be pissed, that's the third time this week.

Thinking about it, I had only been to school for one week and already I felt at home. People, well most anyway were nice and they were great to hang out with.

Cade and Trey flashed through my head. This was not the time for boys. Gorgeous, mysterious boys but boys none the less.

I sped well over the speed limit and spun into the car park, people stopped to see where the screeching of tires was coming from. Great Scar just draw more attention to yourself.

Like my life depended on it (which it did) I ran into the gym. I looked for Maxxie and couldn't find him anywhere. Maybe he had given up and gone home.

"You know that I have every right to kill you now". My head whipped around to the left so fast that I got whiplash.

Maxxie was stood leaning against the wall, hiding in the shadows so I couldn't have seen him. He stepped into the light and I tried not to flinch.

I had only has the misfortune of seeing Maxxie this mad once, the guy ended up needing surgery and went under the witness protection agency.

"I know but then you wouldn't have anyone to compete for you, would you?" He scowled at me "You're such a smart-ass now follow me you are getting INTENSE training today."

Please no...

The streets were dark but a heavy thud resonated off the walls of the buildings, making it seem louder than it actually was.

Deeper within the alleyways strobe lights, dirty music, underdressed girls and 'tough' guys crowded the street waiting to be let into the club.

I walked to the front of the line ignoring the shouts of complaints and the not so PG-13 rated comments. I recognized the bouncer he was normally always working when I had a fight. He just let me in with a nod.

The club was packed and in the centre was the fighting ring, the room was dark and smelled like alcohol and sweat. I wrinkled my nose in disgust.

Currently a fight was on and the crowd was going wild. I slipped around them all and headed towards the changing rooms to get ready.

By the time I was done the fight had finished and the other fighters trickled in. They were too absorbed in themselves to see me but that didn't mean I couldn't hear their obnoxious conversation.

"Yeah I heard a girl, a fucking girl is fighting tonight! Who would let her in? Well it's easy money for me, the stupid bitch doesn't know what's going to hit her and maybe if she's hot we'll go back to hers and I can nurse her wounds".

His friends roared with laughter like it was the funniest thing they've ever heard. Which it quite obviously wasn't. Well we'll see who's laughing when I beat his face into a bloody pulp. Now I was pumped for the fight.

I went out the back way of the locker room so I didn't have to talk or even look at them. I was tightening one of my gloves onto my hand and rammed into a wall.

"Why did they have to pick there to build a bloody wall?" Yes I sometimes talk to myself or inanimate objects, don't judge.

I heard a throaty chuckle from above me "I'm not a wall, you're pretty familiar with how I feel Scarlett."

I froze. I couldn't move. Only extremely brave people called me Scarlett. I slowly looked up and met shocking pitch black eyes that pierced my soul, like they had always done.

"Jace..." My voice was nothing more than a whisper.
