Claire Amber Rose

Looking downwards to the present in my hand, I just hope this will remind them of the last gift they gave to us on the day my mother and I got humiliated. My driver informs me that we will arrive shortly.

I turned towards the window and stared at the surrounding that passed me. This place hasn't changed much since the last time I'm here. "Miss, we're here." I nodded my head. The driver got out and open the door for me. stepping out from the car, I nodded to him and walked towards the entrance.

I briefly stop, looking up at the big house that I ever lived once. Memories flood past me. The incident that happened 20 years ago replying in my mind. I stand at the exact spot the throw us out of this house. I took a deep breath and held my chin high. Walking towards the stairs, the butler greets me. His eyes met mine with a surprised expression on his face.

I warmly smiled at him. "Hello, Anton. We meet again."

His mouth drops wide open, and he immediately close it and bow his head down. "My apologize, miss."

"Cut the formality, Anton. How are you?" I asked him curious of his well-being since it has been 20 years.

He smiles warmly to me. His brown hair has grown white, his face is full of wrinkles. Alas, he still is the same person back then. The kind and caring person that took care of us. "I'm good, miss. How are you?"

"I'm alive it's all that matters. Is nice seeing you again, Anton."

"You too as well." Anton then told me where they are gathering and my guess is right. As usual they always remain in the big living room.

I walked inside with my heels click against the marble floor. My eyes wander around the hall seeing all the picture on the wall. They were all happy, laughing here and there with no worries on their shoulder. It really is a different memory from what I had.

Slowly, I start hearing their voices. As I was getting nearer, I recognize one of my aunt voices. I remember how she hates me playing with her daughter. I stop on my track, decided to eavesdrop the conversation.

"So, Carla, where's your daughter? I never heard of her or see her again. Don't tell me she ended up being a burden to you. I remember how weak she is. Kept crying over a little thing." She said mockingly.

I clenched my fist, hearing her insult me. Guess she didn't keep up with the news. How sad.

"I see you still have that sharp tongue of yours, Aunt Priscila." I walked in elegantly, revealing myself to my whole family. They were all quiet. The piano that was once played, stop.

All eyes are on me, like I'm some sort of superstar. Back then, I would probably faint or even cry with this attention. But I remind myself that I am not the weak Claire. I changed for the better version of me.

"Excuse me, who are you?" she said rudely. Her daughter that is standing beside her, nudge her mother while whispering. "Mom, that is Claire Amber Rose. The famous worldwide designer." I smirked. Aunt Priscila eyes widen. "I'm sorry, but why are you here? And how do you know me?"

I let out a chuckled. "It hurt how you don't remember me, Aunt Priscila. You were the one who really liked me back then. Always reminded me where I should stand in this family." I feign sad and hurt in front of them.

Her jaw drops. "Claire?!"

"In the flash." The other gasped and looked shocked as well. Didn't believe that I am the same Claire from years ago. They started whispering to each other.

I turned towards my grandmother who sat there looking shocked. I smile coldly to her. Making my way to her, I took a glass of champagne on the way. "Hello, dear grandmother. How are you? I hope you're well. I brought you a present." My mom grabs a hold of my elbow, but I didn't pay no mind.

"Here, open it. I'm sure you will love it." placing down the present, she took the present then open it hesitantly. She took it out then gasped one she saw it. My lips tug upwards seeing my grandparent's reaction.

"I thought you might like it." Inside is a necklace that she accused my mom of stealing. I still kept it after all this year. "Consider this a trip down to memory lane." I smiled cruelly than drink my champagne in one gulp.

"What is happening here?!" a voice boomed through the room.

I turned around, smiling coldly to him. "Father, so glad that you could finally join us." a wave of shocked etched on his face, it's like he's seeing a ghost.

"You know, I was expecting a warm welcome from you all." I looked at them one to another. "I thought we're family." I pouted then chuckled. "Claire? Is that you?" father asked.

I nodded my head, looking at him coldly. "You look so different." I scoffed. "Obviously. Do you expect me to be the same Claire?" He was quiet.

"Clai-" one of my aunts called me, but I cut her off. "Ms. Rose to you. You all didn't remember me, so we're strangers." I smirked arrogantly.

I heard my dad whisper. "Rose?" my mom grab my elbow then glared at me. I rolled my eyes in response. After what they did to us, she still tries and be kind to them? Can't believe my mom.

"What are you doing, Claire?" she said in whisper. "Relax, mom. Just enjoy the show." I whispered back to her.

"Rose? Why Rose?" turning around, I come face to face with my father. Crossing my arms over my chest, I raised my eyebrow at him. "Do you expect me still using your surname after what you and your family had done to us?" He winced.

"The day all of you humiliated us and throw us out from this house, is the day we are no longer family." A hurt look flashed across his eyes. He looked down feeling guilty.

"Can I talk to you, Claire? Just the two of us." my face remain impassively. "I can't, I'm a busy woman." I said coldly.

Shifting my gaze from my father to them, I clapped my hands. "Well, what a reunion, huh? I'm not sorry for what I did cause it seems like some of you still underestimate me. But I am here to deliver my gratitude to you all. Without the constant insult and bully, I wouldn't be where I am now." I gaze to my aunt, who very much hate me. She looked away. "I will leave all of you to enjoy the rest of the day." My eyes move to my grandmother. "Once again happy birthday. I shot them a cold smile then leave the place.

I avoided my mom eyes, because I know my mom won't be too happy with the stunt I just did. Even though it may be a little mean. Nevertheless, it felt rather good for me that I could finally put them in place.
