Madeleine glanced at Evelyn and Rebecca who were playing with a deck of cards and a small smile crossed her face.

"Maddi," Bucky called, gently turning her to face him. "Are you all right?"

Madeleine nodded slowly. "I think so. Buck, what did they do to us?"

"I don't know, but I'm trying not to think about it. The important thing is we're with the rest of my unit, amongst others, and safe. We're back with the girls."

"I just-"

"I know, doll." He kissed the top of her head. "We're safe."

Evelyn and Rebecca ran up to their parents and both climbed onto a stool.

Steve watched his friends for a moment, then joined them as people sang There's a Tavern in Town.

"See, I told you," Bucky said. "They're all idiots."

"How about you two?" Steve asked. "You both ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?"

"Hell, no. That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him, and I'm guessing Maddi will say a similar thing. But you're keeping the outfit, right?"

"You know what? It's kind of growing on me. Maddi?"

A small smile twitched at the corner of Madeleine's lips. "I think he expressed my thoughts quite eloquently."

The singing in the bar ceased as Peggy, in a tight-fitting, deep-red dress, walked in. "Captain. Agent Barnes."

"Agent Carter," Steve and Madeleine said.

"Ma'am," Bucky greeted.

"Hi," Evelyn and Rebecca said, the latter in a more shy tone.

"Hello, girls," Peggy greeted as she continued staring at Steve and Madeleine, mostly Steve. "Howard has some equipment for you to try Tomorrow morning?"

"Sounds good," Steve replied.

"I see your top squad is prepping for duty."

"You don't like music?" Bucky asked as he took Madeleine's hand.

"I do, actually," Peggy answered. "I might even, when all this is over, go dancing."

"Then what are we waiting for?"

"The right partner. 0800, Captain."

"Yes, ma'am," Steve said. "I'll be there."

Bucky, referring to the rejection he got from Peggy about going dancing with him, said, "I'm invisible. I'm... I'm turning into you. It's like some horrible dream."

"Don't take it so hard. Dance with Maddi or your daughters."

Madeleine frowned. "Buck. Really?"

Bucky smiled. "Only for Steve's sake. And it did sort of work. Would you care to dance, my dear?"

Madeleine accepted his hand and the two began dancing in silence. Words needn't be spoke in the sheer purity of the moment.

Evelyn smiled as she said, "When I'm older, I wanna be as pretty as Mama."

Rebecca nodded. "Me too."

Steve looked between them and said, "I'm sure you two will be."

"Can we dance with you, Uncle Steve?" Evelyn asked.

"I don't know how to dance."

"Papa knows how. Copy him."

"That won't go very well. I can spin you two around instead if you'd like."
