"Thank you. I needed to hear that." I say kissing his cheek. He smiles and blushes pink. "Okay. You need to get to work and I'm going to go to the base and fill out the retirement work." I tell him standing up. We both go to my car and I drop him off at work.
Once I get to the base it feels like my heart might explode. I'm so nervous. After gathering my courage I make my way inside. "Hey, Hunt! What're you doing here?" John Riley shouts happily while coming up and gives me a big hug.
"Hey Riley, well I'm here to see our superior." I say slightly less confident then when I came in.
"You okay?" He asks concerned. "No. No, I'm not. I've been diagnosed with PTSD. The doctor has authorized my immediate retirement." As the words leave my mouth I feel like I'm going to cry. Riley pulls me in for a hug. "You stay strong Hunt, you hear me? Now, let's go tell superior." We walk together towards Our superiors office.
I just delivered the news. He was really sorry to hear that I had to retire, but it had to be done. After I leave the base for the last time but not before hugging Riley tightly and promising to visit from time to time.
