You know that feeling where you study super hard for a test and you wait for it as patiently as you can, but it's not enough. Well, that was NOT Lance. He waited anxiously for the bell to ring, though. When it finally did, he jumped out of his seat and grabbed his supplies. Iverson, their teacher, spoke harshly,"When did I dismiss you? Wait second, I have stuff to pass out. Your recent astronomy test." He grabbed a stack of papers and individually went to each student and passed them. When he came to Lance, Lance was already feeling sick. He threw the paper of his desk and it bright red ink it said: 32%

Lance groaned internally. He really did study, just it wasn't enough. It never was. Iverson sighed ,disappointed, and walked a few seats behind him. Keith was at the back, reading his book. Iverson smiled broadly and proudly.''100%. Well done, Kogane." Keith nodded and went back to reading. Lance scowled to himself, his stomach churning. He wasn't mad at Keith. He was mad at himself. "Dismissed." Lance found hope in that word and started to grab his bag. " McClain, come to my desk." Lance screamed with a passionate rage.

In his head

He went up to him,"Yes, sir?" Iverson glared at him, his words piercing him. " McClain. This is unacceptable behavior. I try to teach you in multiple ways but you are too stubborn and I can tell you're not trying. You're being passive aggressive and I don't have the time for that. So start putting in the effort and maybe you'll get a decent grade." Lance gulped and nodded, sulking his way out the door. Keith stood outside, pretending that he had also just left the room and had not been eavesdropping on their conversation. Lance walked past him, his face sad and his beautiful, warm, smile not present. Keith frowned. He loved that smile. It filled him with joy." Lance." Lance kept walking, but now his back was stiffening. "Lance." He said, softer.

Lance wouldn't admit it, but his stomach started to warm and flutter hearing his soft voice. Beautiful and clear. The moon bracelet appeared in his head. I can't. He glanced back at him harshly,"What do you want?" Keith bit his lip," I hear that you've...been having trouble. I-I could help you." Keith hoped his powerful blush wasn't too obvious. Lance didn't notice. He found the stuttering adorable. He scoffed and looked away in stubborn pride," I don't need help. I'm fine the way I am. Besides," He glared at him," We're rivals, remember?" Keith protested," True, you made it so." He put the emphasis on 'you'. " But" he paused. It doesn't have to be that way. I want to be friends with you maybe even-

"But it doesn't have to change that. I can tutor you."

Lance pondered this. It would be beneficial. Keith saw his hesitation." While you see a chance, take it. That's what my brother says all the time other than 'Patience yields focus'. I'm offering you this a second time. In the real world, they won't." Lance almost chuckled to himself. Keith was always going on about the 'real world.' Lance's back was still facing him. And Keith was tired of not seeing him. His beautiful, electric self. He gently placed his hands on his shoulders and turned him around, staring into his deep blue eyes. "So, yes or no?" Lance felt the heat rush to his face as his palms became sweaty and his heart started doing flips, his stomach jumping.

No

Not again

These feelings- I can't have them again

I need to find him, my soulmate

Please, be still my heart

Lance nodded slightly and spoke softly and out of breath,"Okay."
