It's You And Me, Always

The Big Day Pt. 2

Narrator's POV:
After Hiccup put his guitar back in its case, he walked back to their table, sitting next to Astrid

"That was great, Hiccup" Astrid said, and it was evident she was crying during the song

"It was for you after all, Milady." He said smiling at her, and holding one of her hands

"You're the sweetest, Hicc" She said and leaned her head on his shoulder

Before they all ate their meal, Stoick called the couple to cut their cake. Hiccup glanced and Astrid as she placed the slice on the plate. As they fed each other, Hiccup smeared frosting on Astrid's nose. "Hiccup!" She yelled in surprise, while he was laughing

"I saw an opportunity and I took it" He said, still laughing. Astrid just looked at him before smearing frosting on his nose too, and they both just laughed. A couple of people noticed that small interaction and they thought it was quite cute, and they started laughing for Stoick came in-between them before they could have a full on cake fight. After cleaning themselves up, the couple took their seats, and they all began their meal. About an hour later Gobber went up to the arch  

"Attention! May I have your attention ladies and gentlemen!" Gobber said under the arch. "May we please have the bride and groom come up for their first dance?" He said pointing to the space by the waterfall, where the twins had placed a small wooden stage. Hiccup and Astrid walked over, hand-in-hand. They stood awkwardly for a few seconds before a familiar tune started to play. "You know this one Hiccup! Don't be afraid to sing, both of ye!" Gobber said, and the couple chuckled

H: I'll swim and sail on savage seas

I'd even sing you poetry (A: Oh, would you?)

A: I have no use for rings of gold
I care not for your poetry 
I only want your hand to hold

H: I only want you near me

they exchanged a look before their voices came together as one

Both: To love and kiss, to sweetly hold
For the dancing and the dreaming
Through all life's sorrows and delights

I'll keep your laugh inside me
I'll swim and sail on savage seas 
With ne'er fear of drowning

And gladly ride the waves of life 
If you will marry meee!

They both had their foreheads pressed against each other, breathing softly after singing. The crowd clapped, and when the couple kissed, the clapping became even louder. Hiccup was a little pre-occupied, he looked over to his Father, who was sitting down clapping softly. 

"Excuse me, Milady" He said gesturing to his Dad, and Astrid nodded. He made his way to Stoick. "You okay, Dad?" He asked him, taking a seat next to him

"Huh? Oh, yeah I'm fine son" He replied smiling softly at Hiccup "Your Mother and I sang that song on our wedding, too. It used to be a traditional viking song they'd sing at weddings. Only some families do it nowadays, so it was just nice seeing you and Astrid dance to it" He let out a sigh

"Mom, used to sing it to me when I was younger" Hiccup said, smiling at the memory of his Mother tucking him in bed while softly singing 'For the Dancing and the Dreaming'

"Go, enjoy dancing with your wife. It looks like the twins are just getting things started" Stoick said nodding to the twins, who appeared by the arch with a whole DJ set. Hiccup smiled at his Father before walking off to find Astrid. Some of the older guests left once the twins started playing more upbeat songs, and soon it was just the gang, Jacob, Heather, and Dagur. They all enjoyed each other's company, dancing the night away, not having a single care or worry in their heads. Soon they decided to call it a night. The twins stayed back to clean up while everyone else headed home. 

"Hey, this isn't the way to your place" said Astrid, who noticed the different route they were taking 

"Well, we aren't going to my place. We're gonna be going somewhere else, Milady" Hiccup said grinning.  A few minutes later they pulled up in front of a small, two-story house. 

"What are we doing here?" Astrid asked, looking very confused

"I figured since we're married, that we should have a house to call our own. A house big enough for me, you, toothless, stormfly, and perhaps in the future mini versions of us" Hiccup said smiling at Astrid

"When did you- I- Hiccup-" Astrid was at complete loss for words

"The day after I proposed to you. I started looking for houses, and this seemed like the perfect one" He said "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go in!" He said, picking Astrid up bridal style

"I had some of our stuff moved today, and I thought we could buy furniture together" Hiccup said once they changed, and snuggled in bed

"You're amazing" Astrid said, laying her head against his chest.

After a long, stressful, amazing, and surprising day, the happy couple finally got to rest. Holding each other close, never gonna give each other up, never gonna let the other down, and never gonna run around and desert each other :)

(A/N: And that folks was their big day. ALSO I SAW AN OPPURTUNITY FOR A RICK ROLL AND I TOOK IT HAHA. I might end this book soon. I'm planning on having a couple chapters with their kids. Hope y'all had a great New Years Eve, aaaaand I hope you guys have a great year ahead!)
