Majarlika De Luna

“A beautiful remnant of my history.”

Majarlika heard her mother’s voice inside her head causing her mind to be blank; fingers pausing from drawing another hairline of the image she’s currently sketching on her tablet, feet rotting underneath her chair, and breath hardening.

Her eyes travelled to where Grale is. He was standing meters away from her.  Phone on his left ear and right hand on his waist. She couldn’t help but to always associate his almond eyes to thunderstorms because of the so much power and emotions hiding beneath his cold and calm clouds.

The combination of his pointed nose perfectly saluting to the sky and his rose-petaled lips both screaming perfection.

His prominent jaw down to his manly neck and broad shoulders, she couldn't help but to wonder how it would feel to be carried by those ironclad arms again. Alam niya; nararamdaman pa rin niya. The way Grale carried her when she was sick, and how many times he trapped her into his chest; it was exhilarating.

Kung ilang beses rin niyang kinalma ang sarili sa bawat hawak nito; it was a blazing kind of touch. Like an arrow firing directly to her chest.

“Those who don’t keep track of their history are doomed to repeat it, daughter.”

Her mother’s voice swept her mind again. She can clearly hear her voice gracing her ears. She can even feel her mother’s thumb caressing her cheek as she hears those words.

Haunting. Exasperating. Maddening.

She tilted her head up on Grale who was standing in her front with his furrowed eyebrows and curious eyes darting at her.

“What are you thinking?” He shoved his phone inside his pocket. “You were spacing out.”

Kuya Sed, head of the maintenance team, actually suggested that they would just renovate this garden so it would look more modern the same as Tatiana, the new garden on the opposite side of the resort, but she declined.

It’s like a portal going to fairy court and she couldn’t help but to giggle thinking about it.

Nakangiting umiling si Majarlika kay Grale. “Wala.”

“Are you sure?”
