Y/n's POV

"Are two atoms of the same element identical?" The teacher asks, tapping his foot on the floor a sign of impatience.

I raised my hand.

Annoyingly, another hand raises. I shouldn't be surprised, that Rooster head.

Praying in my mind that the teacher would pick me, wanting to assert dominance in the classroom with the captain of the volleyball team.

"Ms. L/n." I proudly praised the teacher in my head, smiling as I stood up.

I felt so amused after catching kuroo rolling his eyes in annoyance before looking away.

I'll always be ahead of you.

"The answer is, No. Two atoms of the same chemical element are typically not identical. First of all, there is a range of possible states that the electrons of an atom can occupy. Two atoms of the same element can be different if their electrons are in different states. If one copper atom has an electron in an excited state and another copper atom has all of its electrons in the ground state, then the two atoms are different." I said, clearly out of breath as the teacher gave me a proud look.

Even though he gives me a proud look almost every day. My ears didn't forget to catch kuroo's scoff at the end of my answer.

I couldn't call it a day if kuroo wasn't annoyed.

This was always what I despise and like at the same time whenever it's time for chemistry, the part that I despise is kuroo being a absolute prick. Since my first day in nekoma high, he's nothing but annoyance to me. Ever since I got a higher score than him at one of our quiz, he tells me.

"Don't flatter yourself, I'll get a higher score on the next quiz."

It was immature, really. But I do find it amusing to see his defeated face whenever I get the high score. But I do hate the taste of defeat whenever he gets a higher score than me.

It motivates me to study harder, I couldn't let him beat me.

The thing that I like about this is because I can tease him to no end whenever I get a higher score, the look on his face is always priceless. The frown on his eyebrows is funnier than the whole circus. The way he clenches his jaw makes him funnier than any clown.

But I won't ignore the fact that I hate it when I get the lower score.

His ugly laugh is what I only hear at the end of the day, he won't call it a day if he hadn't rub it in my face enough that I lost to him.

In short, his ego gets bigger.

But it was easy to break, I just needed to surpass him on the second test.

"Thank you L/n, you're correct." With that being said the teacher proceeds to talk about another lesson of our chemistry.

Time skip

"Class dismiss, please don't forget the test next week." The teacher says to the class before going out.

End of class for this week. It was Friday, I can finally relax.

I sighed, another test. I needed to study again. As much as I hate studying I needed to do it, my parents would go crazy if they ever found out I had a low grade. It scares me to face the disappointment in their face.

My parents are both busy people, they barely had time to have a chat with me. Always on their laptop or in their office, I get used to it.

It gets annoying sometimes.
