Rosemary's POV

It's nice for them to invite me, wonder why Lu, didn't say anything earlier.

HE invited you.

Maybe he's just trying to make up for accidentally hitting me.
"Hey Lu." I say meeting her at my locker

"Hey!!!"

"You're brother just invited me to yalls family dinner this weekend."

Her eyes go big "Oh yes, I meant to tell you about that, sorry!"

"No it's okay, thank y'all for inviting me."

"I'll pick you up." She says closing her locker & we head to science.

END OF DAY

"Hey ma, how'd the doctor go? , y'all didn't say anything" I ask taking a bite of my food.

"They just did a few .. test. " Ma replies.

"oh"

"Lu invited me to her family dinner Saturday is it okay if I go?"

"What time darling?" Ma asks
"6:30, Lu says she will pick me up."

"I don't see any problem with it Rose." Pa says with a smile
"It's nice of them do that."

"You will have to make a pie."

"Make your famous blackberry pie!" Ma says happily.

"That would be good , Lu would love that." Matt says . "Make two"

Matt loves pies.

I chuckle, "Alright I will tomorrow."

SATURDAY EVENING

I dress one of my nice dresses.

There's a knock on the door, I finish smoothing out my dress, when I hear my name being called down stairs.

Why so nervous?

Ma opens my door, "Rosemary are you ready?"

"Y-Yeah ma, how do I look?"

"Beautiful."

"Thanks ma."

She looks at me for a second, "Ma everything okay?" Tears form in her eyes.

"Yes dear, let's go."

I walk downstairs to where Lu was waiting...

Sometimes I forgot people.. outside of our community.. dress different, but she still looked really pretty.

"Let's go."

I grab my pie & head outside behind her, i stop once i get close to the car.
"What's wrong?" Lu ask once she realizes i'm not getting in.

"I-I've never been in one of these before.." I say .

"Oh crap sorry It's alright.. it's just like your wagon but with out the horses, & it's faster."
