What To Give

"I just don't know what to do!" Amber yells, complaining to her dog. Her best friend tilts her head in confusion and trots out the door.

Being with a boyfriend who goes all out just for you is an adorable and great thing but in this case, it's bad. Especially when he says not to do anything in return. Amber is the type of girl who can't stand still doing nothing after someone does something for her. And worse, it's with money! When she agreed to be in a relationship with Cole, she didn't expect him to give her anything. She thought it would be just, girlfriend and boyfriend going on dates or hanging out together, not giving gifts. Valentines, Birthdays, 3-Month Anniversaries, none of that cheesy stuff.

How about a scarf? Nah, that's useless to him. He doesn't even go out when it's cold.

Maybe a beanie? Nope, he only wears hoodies.

Maybe a stuff animal... Are you freaking kidding me, Amber?! That is way too childish.

A key chain? No.

A phone case? Useless, he has one too many already.

Video games? His parents are rich, they already bought him the latest stuff.

"Ughhhhh!" Amber groans in frustration. She has been thinking of ideas all day and every single one of them has turned out to be useless. Useless! Maybe I should just give up... Amber thought slowly sitting up from her bed. She pulls out her shiny phone case and quickly types a message to her boyfriend.

A: >:(

Before she could type another letter after sending that message, her boyfriend had already replied. What has he been doing? Sitting around looking at his phone for her message this whole time?

C: What did I do wrong this time?

A: This is all your fault

C: ???

A: What do you want?

C: Anything? Wait... if this is about the gifts, I want nothing. Don't worry about that stuff. As long as you don't break up with me, I'm happy :)

That smiley face was ticking off Amber more than she began with. She threw her phone across the bed and groans as she felt another wave of frustration rush over her. This is so stupid! She thought. Her friend comes running in barking and tries to catch Amber's undivided attention. Maybe her friend had an idea. Amber got up from her bed and follows her pet out into the kitchen. "The heck? Stupid dog, there nothing here to do." Amber curses under her breath.

The dog whines and starts barking again as Amber starts walking towards her room. "What?!" Amber yelled. She realized what her friend was trying to get at. Food... FOOD! She could bake something for him. Why couldn't she thought of that in the first place?

She opened her expensive phone once more, feeling angrier at using it while not paying her boyfriend back but also determined to bake him something delicious. Flour, eggs, a rolling pan, vanilla syrup, and other ingredients. Her pet quietly whimpers while standing in the back of the kitchen, "Oh hush, Midget, it'll be fine." Amber reassures her friend.

But it wasn't. Nothing was fine. The flour and eggs weren't mixed well enough and the vanilla never made it in the mixing bowl before Amber yells out in frustration once again. She walked out of the kitchen, not wanting to look back at her failed attempt to bake. She laid down on the living room floor and rolls around, trying to calm herself down. Her body was boiling from all the anger she couldn't get out and she screamed into the carpet floor.

After what seems to be eternity, she stopped screaming. The doorbell rang as if it was meant to be rung every day. Too tired to get up, Amber stares at the door. The door unlocks a minute later and in walks her boyfriend. Slipping off his shoes at the front door, He raised up two plastic bags in his hand and smiled. "Hey, what's up princess?" He greets her.

Amber, being the stubborn girl that she is, she turned her head the other way so her face could not be seen unless the smiling male walked around to the other side. As soon as he took two steps forward, the whole mess in the kitchen revealed. He looked at the mess then at his girl laying on the floor, then back at the kitchen and turns his attention back his girl. He shook his head and walks up to the lazy girl. "Mind telling who made that mess?" He asks as he sat down, crisscrossed in front of her. "Me." Amber replies lazily. "I think that was an obvious answer. Now can you tell me why?" he raises his eyebrow in amusement. "I wanted to bake... for you." Amber replies again. She turned her head until she was flat faced down into the carpet.

Her boyfriend smirked and instantly got up to clean up the mess. "Don't..." The female said. The male smiled and laughs quietly. He cleaned up the mess in the kitchen just like he did with her bedroom, bathroom, and living room. There is not one spot in Amber's house where he has not cleaned before. Once he was done, he came back into the living and laughs. Amber was still in the same position that he found her in the beginning. He's surprised she's still breathing, considering the fact that her face in down in the carpet.

"Sorry..." She whispers. The male lightly strokes her head to calm her down. "I have take-outs for us." He whispers back. She slowly sat up, face red and eyes droopy. If he hadn't known her for so long, he would've thought she was sick. He went to her room, searching for a good movie resulting in watching Freaky Friday. Slipping the DVD into the player and then joins his adorable girlfriend eating the take-outs. "Sorry again." Amber whispers after finishing her dinner. While the movie was playing, Amber and Cole cuddles next to each other enjoying each other's company.

"It's fine. I've said it a hundred time, and I'll say it a hundred more... heck even a thousand times more if you need, I don't need anything. As long as you are with me, I'm happy as can be. I love you, you stupidly, determined girlfriend of mine." He kissed her head and soon, she falls asleep with a smile on her face.
