~CHAPTER 12~Meeting~

Roxanne

I sat in the corner of our tomb, awaiting the sun to set. I was anxious to see Alexia, even though Kaure thought it was a horrific idea. But I couldn't abandon Alexia like that - especially after I requested her to meet me. I had to tell her the truth; there was no way around it. I missed Alexia, and even though my heart stopped beating, I still felt my human emotions. I couldn't wait to see Alexia, to hold her in my arms.

Kaure sat on a chair, staring at me with timid eyes. She wasn't keen on the idea - neither was I - but I owed Alexia at least that much. I just hoped everything would turn out for the best. I knew I was putting Alexia's life in danger by telling her the truth, but as the saying goes - the truth will set you free. I had no idea where that saying came from, though I knew mom used it a lot.

"Are you seriously going through with this ludicrous plan?" Kaure asked her arms folded over her chest. She was tapping her foot on the ground, irritating the living hell out of me.

"Yes Kaure, I can't let her down. Family is important to me." I said, staring at her with pleading eyes. I couldn't lose Kaure because of all of this - she was all I had in my immortal life.

"Family used to be important to me too Rox, and look where that ended." she said brusquely. I knew she was afraid - partly - of what might happen. If I kill Alexia, I'd have the rest of eternity to feel remorse, and should the Originals - or she - find out I told a human, it would put my whole family in grave danger. But I couldn't help but feel things have to happen this way - as though some destiny was awaiting me. Alexia had to know about vampires, in order to protect herself from us dark demons too.

Kaure rushed over to me, chaining me to the wooden chair. Alarmed, I stared up at her, though both of us knew I could break free within a split second.

"Well that was a long road for nothing." I said as I released myself from her feeble trap. I had no idea why she had done that - perhaps she wanted to die? Perhaps she wanted to infuriate me so I'd execute her.

"Please... please Roxanne. Don't go." Kaure pleaded. I knew I was putting her life in threat too, but vampires were egotistical creatures. Not once did she think about me when she changed me - when she put my life at risk.

"Don't come along, please. Just... stay here until I get back." I said, as I turned and left through the door. I knew Kaure would be hurt by my callous words, though for some reason I didn't want her near Alexia. I was scared for what Kaure might do to her.

I ran at full speed towards the Clark Fork River, all the time contemplating my plan. I had no idea how to advance the situation - I would just go with the flow. I had no plan A- and no plan B, which left me in chance.

As I advanced towards the Clark Fork River, I spotted Alexia straight away. She stood with her back against me, giving me the hand of surprise. Though I doubted I would surprise her - perhaps she'd be startled of me. I moved slowly towards Alexia, making as much noise as unsurprisingly possible. Vampires were light on their feet, giving them the advantage in a hunt. After moments, Alexia did not respond, and I decided to call out to her.

"Lexi..?" I asked my voice too petite. She spun around too promptly, almost losing her equilibrium.
