The date was probably one of the best ones I had been on, but the one that of course topped it was the day Azaria said she would be my wife. It was a cold night when I asked her. I took her to our favourite spot onto a cliff with a beautiful view of the ocean and the town. She had no idea what was going to happen and that was the way I wanted it. I took her up there and wrapped my arms around her waist and held her to me, this was where I wanted her for the rest of my life.

“I have something to show you” I said taking her hands and leading her towards the bottom of the hill where the water met the cliff, there on a little Jetty was a little boat I hired for the night. This was where I was going to do it.

“Marc? What is this?”

“This is a boat.”

“Of course it’s a boat, but what are we going to do with it?”

“Row out to the centre of the lake?” I asked confused

“The last time I went out in one of these things Alex tipped me over.”

I put my hand over my heart in fake shock

“You think I would tip you in the water? I’m shocked” I dropped my bottom lip.

“Of course I don’t” she walked over to me and put a finger on my chest “I want to go over just so I get to see yo strip down.”

I gaped at her. Did she just say what I thought she said. She chuckled and got into the boat.

“Are we going or not?” she asked.

“Yeah” I cleared my throat “yeah we are”

“Please don’t make this terrible”

“I don’t think you have to worry about that” she looked at me confused but I just looked over her shoulder and guided the boat from the jetty to the centre of the lake. We laughed and went in circles for a little bit before I stopped and we floated. She had a go at trying to steer the boat....that didn’t work out to well.

“We’re going around in circles!” she whined at one stage.

“Of course we are, because you only have one oar in the water” I told her motioning towards the oar sticking out of the water. She dropped them both and huffed “I quit” she said crossing her arms over her chest. I laughed and she glared at me. This was where I was going to do it.

“Oh hey look at that” i pointed over her shoulder.

“I’m not falling for that” she said to me.

“Quick your going too miss it!” I said and she huffed and turned.

“What am I looking at?” she said turning her head a couple of times, while I put my hand in my pocket, got the ring out, opened the box and place in my hand.I stuck my hand out and lent my head on my hand and looked at her innocently.

She turned around after she gave up and was about to say something when she saw the ring.

“Wha-?” was all she could get out.

“From the day I met you, I used to think you were the annoying little sister of my best friend, I never really paid attention to you, but as the years went by you changed, and your body, well you know what happened there..

she giggled.

“and when you said yes to going on a date with me, I was so happy, it wasn’t long after that I knew I had found the right one for me, even though she can’t row a boat in the right direction, there is no-one I would rather be stranded at sea with. Azaria  Naylor.....would you do me the honour of being my wife?” she gaped at me and just stared .
