Tony Bye

Though it may be incontestably obvious, I'm a writer. I have been writing stories since elementary school. My fascination with storytelling is rooted in the cultural & ancestral prevalence of stories throughout history; used for unraveling complex ideas & understanding deep seeded emotions; utilized as far back in our evolution as we survived not just as individuals, but as tribes. I am also fascinated by how this can be used to a clinical advantage, psychologically, as archetypes seem to be imbedded concepts in our DNA. Intertwined in our psyches. Unveiling our innermost selves in ways few other things can.

As a storyteller, I can take readers on a journey, make them feel ways they have perhaps never felt before, give them courage to keep fighting - all through the power of writing. I write mostly science fiction & action/adventure books. I try to put a piece of myself in every story, every arc, every character. I can be found somewhere in the pages of anything I write. Along with novels & poems, I also write songs. 

As for what I read, I primarily try to find unfamiliar stories; something fresh & thought provoking. I also love the 'classics' - J.R.R. Tolkien's high fantasy, the science fiction of Frank Herbert & H.G. Wells, the cosmic horror of HP Lovecraft, the unique tales of Stephen King. For nonfiction, I like insightful, inspiring & challenging books: the academic works of Richard Dawkins & Yuval Noah Harari; the influential works of Simon Sinek, Dale Carnegie & Robert Greene; the thoughtful works of Carl Jung, Marcus Aurelius & Lao Tzu; the personal growth works of Tony Robbins & Rachel Hollis; the nutritional works of Paul Saladino & Gary Taubes.

I am a musician (drums, guitar, keyboard) & vocalist. I like movies, animation/anime, video games, clinical & bio psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, nature documentaries, zoos & aquariums, exotic animals & plants, dogs (German Shepards & Huskies) & videography. I enjoy basketball, tennis & swimming.
