You probably don't know me. My name. Where I live. But isn't that normal? That we 'meet' each other and that's it? Yet, here we are. I don't know what to say that can explain my life in 2000 characters. So I'll just tell you this:
I love to write. To read. It pains me-literally pains me-to sit and read all these stories on Wattpad with so many grammar mistakes. I read this one book where the author didn't put periods in-between sentences that should've been separated. Don't get me wrong, there are some great books here. At the same time, the stories can be inconsistent, grammatically incorrect, and sometimes just plain boring.
Even with horrible grammar, I still read the ones that have a good plot. I correct things in my head if it means I can read something good that I can't get in a library.
I have just come to the conclusion, actually, when reading a book by an amazing author who knows how to write, that even though some people are good at the grammar part of writing, they become too rushed as their story progresses and make careless mistakes. Simple things that can be skimmed over, but still. People don't realize that the demand of readers affects the author so much-causing 'stress'- and it affects their writing too. Imagine that stress as an extremely minor form, weighing on the author's shoulders when she or he has tons of people pressuring for an update.
Why am I writing this? I would like to write something on Wattpad. And I know a lot of other people join all the time and start to write, no matter their understanding of the art. Because that's what writing is: an art. As a reader, I know that I, among others, learn from the things we read. With people so young, everything seen is learned from. Knowledge, good or bad, is gleaned off of that and used.
So I am just reminding you, sitting here reading my long tirade, to be careful how you write, to learn how to write first, if you don't already know how.
Anyway, I'm Goldie. Nice to meet you.
