Hi I'm AJ, I am 17 years old and spend most of my life doing school at the moment.

> When I grow up, I want to be an author, am I insane?
>> Yes, growing up is overrated, just become an author

I joined this site when looking for somewhere that @Fightmoviesfan53 and I could write and am grateful that I did. (By the way, he's a bit strange but he writes well and happens to edit almost everything of mine on here, you should check out his stuff)

I always hated writing, until last year when I got the most amazing English teacher I could ask for. Tegan encouraged me to release my inner creativity and moved my mark from a D average to an A average in 4 months. I am grateful to her for looking for good things in my writing more than she looked for bad things.

I have a thing for words, I like to learn new ones, I like to use strange ones and I particularly like putting them together. My stories are not the best in the world, this I am aware of, but does that mean I'm going to stop writing? No. Because firstly, how then would I improve; and secondly, some things we do for love not brilliance.

I love to read, extensively. Fantasy and Sci-Fi seem to take preference on my list but I enjoy a variety of genres.

Extra info about me: I like The Hunger Games, I play the flute, I am the oldest of four children, my favourite colour is purple and when I write, I envision it playing out in black and white.

Some more quotes I enjoy:

"So avoid using the word 'very' because it's lazy. A man is not very tired, he is exhausted. Don't use very sad, use morose. Language was invented for one reason boys - to woo women - and in that endeavor, laziness will not do."

"When a boy does a stupid thing once, that's ok, that's because he's a boy. But when he does the same stupid thing twice, it has to be to impress some girl."

"The beautiful thing about writing is you don't have to get it right the first time. Unlike, say, a brain surgeon!"
