Desert Spirituality is known in various spiritual traditions and characterised by the practices of silence, solitude, simplicity and stillness. Sometimes, the image of forest or wilderness is used in place of desert. The image is of a vast natural place, devoid of worldly distractions. The word is Sanskrit for desert/ forest/ wilderness is aranya. The text of the four talks given by Carrie Lock at Aranya Ashram, as shared in this book are: Desert Spirituality; Prayer; Meditation, and Contemplation. The talks cover such questions as: What is desert spirituality? What is prayer, meditation, contemplation? How are they different from each other? How to prayer/ meditate/ contemplate?
