Ilya wanted to go home. Instead he asked the bartender for another horrible vodka. Ilya sipped it more slowly. His stomach was still digesting dinner, but even so he knew this should really be his last drink. He was starting to feel the effects. Not wanting to sit still anymore, Ilya moved away from the bar. Walking around the room without a real destination in mind and soon found himself face to face with red hair, curves and freckles. "I saw you watching me," the redhead said. This was the problem with gay bars: too many straight women. The guys hit on him. The woman hit on him. It was a burden being his hot in a place like this. Everyone wanted him. Such a chore. Ilya just wanted his couch.

October 2016 - Ilya scrolls through Instagram and sees a picture of Shane and Arthur from the Biodome in Montreal. He draws the wrong conclusions. July 2017 - Yuna and David are talking in their cottage after David walked in on Ilya and Shane. August 2014 - Shane tries to distract himself from thoughts of Ilya and picks up another man while on vacation in Mexico with his teammates.

Me and my friends wrote a series of one-shots with Alan Arkin's different characters. Some of these are gonna be funny and some of them are gonna be more serious for those who want it... 😉 Some of the characters included are, Captain Yossarian (Catch-22), Lt. Falling into the Heated Rivalry rabbit hole was absolutely not on my 2025 bingo card-but a few Tarlos pages I follow on IG kept posting about Shane and Ilya, and well... here we are. I read Heated Rivalry and The Long Game in three days, loved them to pieces, and couldn't believe how similar the series feels to the actual content and emotional beats of the books. Shane ate his Tuna melt, said Ilya's name and ran off... but what if he came right back after freaking out in his car for a bit. What if they talked a little, not about everything but enough. Part two goes up tomorrow and then that's the end.

Hayden wasn't exactly sure how to define his relationship with Ilya Rozanov. His best friend's husband was too simple. The Captain of a rival hockey team was too antagonistic. His kid's uncle was too familiar. Sometimes Hayden missed the good old days when he could just hate the man in a straightforward non-confusing way.
