Dreamland

29 9 13
By ramayantika

Through the soft comfy covers,
Reaching a state of deep sleep,
I stumble through an unknown land-
My dreamland!

In a dense forest I land
Where I reach a lake, a magical lake.
Trees lining the lake shine in different shades.
Red, yellow, purple and blue!
So many hues!
They twinkle like the stars above.
What mischief are they upto?

A little silvery light sweeps by
Directing its way to the lake.
It diffuses into pieces of a shining snowflake making the lake shine.
Cautiously I approach near it's bank.
Can't take any risks for
What shines isn't always gold.

The lake glitters in silver,
The trees twinkle more brightly
As quiet whispers make way to my ears, "Go, take a look!"

Peering down at the shining water,
I stare at my reflection.
It shines back at me.
My face consists of stars and the universe.
There is a silver halo around my head.
Am I magical?

A shining hand rises through the water
Asking me to join it.
Does it belong to a man or a woman?
I do not know.
But it feels safe to join.

And down I splash into the lake.
Each colour on the trees now visible,
Each forming a kaleidoscope.
Enchanting and sublime it looks!
There a mirror lies on the wall
Shining brighter than the stars.
I look at myself and gasp.
I am not the same again!

The maiden there is me but not me.
She shines brighter as I keep on staring.
The sun, moon and stars dance around her with galaxies surrounding her form.
Is it me or someone else?

A swirling cloud engulfs me
And I am no longer in the enchanting company.
Waking up I find myself in my own bed.
But why does the moon shine so bright tonight?

This was a mixture of a dream I saw back when I was in grade nine with some of my own fantasies like the forest one and silver light guiding me. Now the stars and universe is again party real and partly a fantasy.
