"...Since when did you even know how to shoot a ball?" Chase suddenly said almost spewing lava from his mouth.
"I've always knew how to play." I stated matter-of-factly.
"Then why the f*** have you been bringing the team down whenever you play?" Lebbec says almost shouting.
"You clearly made up your minds that I was weak and pushed me to the side without even letting me try an prove myself, so I stayed the loser you thought me to be." I retorted shrugging.
"So what changed?" Nicholas said sounding almost upset. I looked over to Liam and Luke. They both looked between each other confused. I smiled at Liam and his expression turned to surprise, with a tint of red peeking at his cheeks. I just assume it was from all the running though.
I threw the ball back to Chase giving him another handicap. He looked frustrated.
When the next ball was in play everyone was still in shock, keeping a close eye one me. Sean tried for a two pointer but the ball bounced off the backboard, Lebbec took advantage of this and hit the ball behind him motioning for Luke to go after the ball. Me and Luke were surrounded. Nicholas was still at the hoop of the red team. He was clearly slow to respond. That left Marcus defenseless. After catching the ball he tried to score quickly knowing that the ball wouldn't be in his grasp much longer if he held on to it. It pinged off the hoop and landed into Liam's hands. He shot half way across the court and scored a three. The look that came to Lebbec's face almost had me laughing.
"Who the hell does that?!" Lebbec shrieked. Liam's team began cheering for him, giving him high fives and pats on the back.
The ball was in play once again, now in Marcus' control.
The score was tied six, six.
Marcus sprinted down the middle of the court with a few of the red team members on his trail. Gale quickly swooped in, stoled the ball and began heading in the opposite direction. He was fast. I noticed what was happening and took off in Gale's direction. I caught up with Gale and hopped in front of him. Liam was very close so I wasn't sure if my strategy would work, but like before I went for it. I charged Gale while doing a three sixty spin around him, swiftly stealing the ball and making a sharp U turn. I darted towards their net leaving them behind. I shot with ease, the breeze caressing my fingers. I scored another perfect three pointer.
After playing for awhile, sweating fiercely and having fun with Liam and Luke the game ended, the blue team was up twice the amount of the red.
"Gosh man, you're really good." Marcus cheered. All the attention I was getting from the audience and the players had me flustered. Most of the other team were fine with the results, in fact Liam almost looks happy? The same can't be said for Chase and Gale however. Chase stormed towards the exit while Gale came up to me.
"How can a faggy freak like you be good at a sport?" He says mocking me with disgust clear in his voice. Before I had time to respond I spotted Chase in the corner of my eye. He picked up a basketball from a basket near the exit and chucked it at my face with all his force. I could have easily dodged it but it was heading straight for Gale. I just had enough time to push him out of the way before receiving a solid ball to the face. The pain shot through my skull, and I definitely felt a crack. I noticed my vision spinning backwards, and I fell to the floor. Chase was out the door before anyone could spot him.
A minute later I woke up... with my head on Liam's lap. I must be dreaming, or dead. He was calling my name. Every time he said my name I could feel a little spark in my stomach. It always made me feel happy, and fuzzy.
"Heh that's what you get for pushing me you damn fag." Gale said smugly, trying not to act surprised.
"He pushed you out the way you asshole!" Liam shouted at Gale. Gale stood there realizing what happened, with his eyes widened.
I felt a warm substance drain down my face. I place my hands at my head, only to find blood. I think I fainted, cause I lost consciousness again. This time I woke up in what seemed to be the nurses office. I looked around and spotted Liam at my bedside. He shot his head up when he realized I was awake.
"H-Harvey? How are you feeling." He asks in a concerned voice. He wore a look of great worry on his face.
"I'm fine, just a have a headache is all." I say sounding extremely sleepy.
"I told you he was a good kid." The nurse said. Oh, the nerve she had. My glare now as sharp as a katana. she decides to leave the room laughing quietly in fear. Liam just sat there looking lost as to what was happening.
"T-Thanks for watching over me Liam." I say shyly now that we were the only ones in the room. That's when I noticed our hands were locked together.
"I-I-im sooo sorry I didn't..." I say trying to get my hand from his grip. He just sat there smirking at me.
"I'm not." He says now with a huge grin spread across his face.
"Should I call your parents to pick you up?" He asks, now serious. "The nurse said you need to be around someone for a whole day of two to make sure you don't have a concussion, or any other effects."
"Well... my parents are out of town." I say looking to my lap, a bit sad. Liam sat there pondering for a moment.
"I'll take you to my house then." He says with a bit of excitement in his voice.
"I couldn't intrude like that." I gave him a frown.
"Well I'm inviting you, so there." He said simply. "Let's go."
"I uh... sor--" He cut me off by pulling our still locked hands towards him.
"Need me to carry you?" He smirked. I fiercely shook my head, I didn't need to be more embarrassed than I already was.
