Yet again, this time of the year had come around, Eita's birthday. Although he didn't show it, because he was afraid it'd make him look awfully immature, he still looked forward to his birthday, year after year. Although the presents get more and more boring with every passing year, the very fact that he had a day of significance in the year still got him excited.
But for someone that loved his birthday, to have one on December 3rd was absolutely tragic. It was barely too early for people to get him one gift for both his birthday and Christmas so they'd all have to get him 2 in such a short amount of time, causing annoyance. Not to mention there were many people uninterested in celebrating twice in the same month and believed that there was only a need for one party for both events. The only person that would happily celebrate both every single year, was you.
He had just finished practice and he was unbelievably tired but he decided to jog home, knowing very well that you'd be waiting at his place today, fixing the decorations until the very last moment. And just as he expected, you were fixing the icing on the cake for what looked like the 15th time when he got home.
"Eita!" you exclaimed as he walked into the room to see how much time and effort you had put into everything about his birthday. "Happy birthday!" you said with a smile and he couldn't help but return it.
"Thank you," he said. "You really didn't have to though, this must've taken such a long time..."
"Oh, don't worry," you replied. "You know I love decorating and all, this is nothing."
As he watched you smile away as the two of you talked about his birthday, he's reminded of another reason why December 3rd was so important to him. You didn't know about this and he had no plans of telling you but December 3rd exactly 4 years ago was the first time he had seen you and it was also the moment he had fallen in love with you.
To him, everything started exactly 4 years ago on this day, you probably didn't know of his existence 4 years ago, but that was okay. As long as you're with him now, nothing matters— nothing at all.
As long as you're there, smiling at him with the same smile he fell in love with, wishing him a 'Happy Birthday', there was nothing more he could possibly ask for.
