ZACH HELD LILLY TIGHTLY as he continued crying. Her head was hiden in his chest and her arms were tightly wrapped around his neck.

Zach's arms were wrapped around her waist just as tightly, holding her close to him so he could comfort her and keep her warm.

And in some way he saw it as a way of protecting her, and keeping her safe.

Zach would whisper sweet little nothings to comfort Lilly and to let her know he's still here for her and he only wants to help.

It helped Lillian to know he was here with her, even though her plan was to be alone. She was happy that Zach found her- or followed her. She didn't know how he found her, how he knew about her plan....but at this moment she could care less.

Lillian's sobs became quieter and she closed her eyes to take a few steady breaths.

The two had been hugging for a long time, but Zach didn't care.

He only wanted her to be okay.

She slowly pulled away from him, wiping her tears away with the sleeves of her jacket.

"Thank you." She barely said above a whisper. Zach only nodded and rubbed her back softly to keep on comforting her. He wanted to know what's wrong, but he decided to let her take her time and tell him when she's ready.

He really didn't mind waiting a little if that meant she could feel comfortable with him.

"My parents got divorced recently." Lilly let out shakily. She pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Zach looked at her, shocked. He didn't expect it, but it all made sense now since Lillian wanted to go back to Chicago, because she used to come here often with her parents.

When they were happy, and together.

"I'm sorry, Lilly." Zach let out, not really knowing what more to say since his mom and dad were still together and very happy.

Lillian shook her head, looking ahead of her, at the water.

"No need for, I saw it coming." She bit her lip before speaking again while Zach waited patiently for her again, letting her take all the time she needed. "A bit over an year ago my dad came home, drunk. My mom and I watched him stumbling inside after a lot of worrying where he could have been. When my mom wanted to help him she smelt a different kind of perfume on him, a flowerly one." She took a deep breath, trying to hold her voice steady, but Zach already knew what was coming and he felt really bad for her and her mother. He pulled Lillian in a side hug and kissed her forhead as she continued. "He cheated. My mom confronted him with it that night but he avoided her. The next day my mom tried again and he told us he had been seeing a woman for over two years and everything. My mom was devastaded and wanted a divorce." She sighed.

It hurt her and her mom so much.

"A few months later it was all done and my dad moved in with the woman he had been seeing behind our back." She breathed out. "And a few weeks ago my dad had the nerve to text me for the first time in months, only to sent me a picture with the caption, 'your baby brother'." Lilly broke down crying again, Zach holding her even closer to him to let her know that 'it's okay'.

"I am so sorry, Lillian. You and your mom didn't deserve this. I don't know your parents that well, but I know you love them, and spending time with them." He placed a soft kiss on the top of her head. "And I understand why Chicago is so important to you now." Zach sighed. "You love the memories that were made here, and you want to hold onto them as long and as much as possible. You're not ready for those times to be over yet." Lilly nodded and snuggled more into him.

"I can't believe I'm never gonna visit this city with both my parents again, wondering around the city, laughing and smiling." The blonde sobbed. "They don't even look at each other anymore, Zach. It's like they erased each other from their lifes, from their memories."

"How's your mom taking it all? You still live with her, right?" Zach asked. Lilly nodded, a sob leaving her lips.

"She was miserable the first couple of months. I was actually gonna move out at first and live on my own, but when it all happened I decided to stay longer and help her out." Zach nodded, listening to every word she said. "I had to because she didn't feel enough anymore, so she stopped eating and taking care of herself." She took a deep breath, trying to keep herself calm. "She's fine now, but I haven't told her about the baby." She mumbled.

"I get that," Zach sighed and rubbed her back gently. "but are you planning on doing it?" Lilly shrugged.

"I don't know, I don't want her to break down again." Lillian sighed. "She's finally smiling after all this time. She's actually happy." Zach nodded, understandingly.

"And how are you dealing with this all?" Zach looked down at her.

"I don't know, not well I guess." She chuckled quietly. Zach let out a small smile, hearing her do so. "My parents were my heros, the people I would ask for advice and trust with personal stuff. I saw them as an example of how I wanted my future to look like; happy, healthy, having a kid and being together with my best friend- my soulmate." Lillian sighed. "It was silly." Zach shook his head.

"It wasn't silly. Your parents are very important to you, and you love seeing them so happy together. You grew up in a family with a happy and steady marriage, and now you're older and you're starting to see things differently." Zach told her. "And that your parents got divorced, doesn't immediately mean that there aren't relationships and marriages that last longer, or forever. Some people are just not meant to be together, or they grow apart. It's sad but it happens, Lilly." She sighed but nodded, knowing he was right. She sat up again and turned to look at the water which put her at ease.

"Do you know why my parents and I always visited Chicago?" She suddenly spoke after a few minutes of silence. Zach looked at her, shaking his head lightly.

"No, why?"

"They met here at a concert. My mom lost her ticket, but my father was there to help setting up the band she was about to see, and he helped her get in. She was allowed to stay backstage and they talked more than they listened to the music." She let out a laugh, shaking her head a little. "My father asked my mom to marry her in Chicago later, here, on the coast." Zach watched a small smile growing upon her face, a smile growing on his lips as well. "They were so in love, and every time we came here they would tell me the exact same story." She chuckled softly. "But I loved it though."

She couldn't get enough of the story.

"I guess I'm just still busy accepting the fact that they're over and that my father had already moved on before it even ended, having a new family on his own now." Lilly let out a deep breath. "But as long as they're both happy, I'm fine with it I guess." The words slipped past her lips as she looked up at the bright stars above her.

Zach looked at her, a smile growing on his face.

The moonlight fell perfectly on her face, lighting her eyes up in a way that could make your breath hitch. And the stars made the night magical, together with the calm water. Lilly looked calm as well, more at peace, and absolutely beautiful.

Even after crying.

Zach couldn't help staring at her, he just simply loved seeing her smile.

Lilly let out a sigh before resting her head on his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer as they watched the view.

"Could you please not tell Kay, or anyone else about this?" Lillian mumbled to the brunette. "Kay knows my parents are divorced, but not the real reason." Zach nodded.

"Of course, if that's what you want." Zach placed a soft, small kiss on her forhead. "It's your secret, or ours now." Lilly laughed which made Zach grin.

"Thank you," She whispered, looking at him. "for listening, making sure if I was okay, not trying to push me into telling you and for following me down here." Zach chuckled.

"That's my job as best friend." He grinned down at her with a shrug. Lilly looked up at him, an eyebrow raised.

"Best friend?" She chuckled softly.

"Yes, we're best friends now, we have to be." Zach stated like it was obvious. "It kinda hurts that you didn't see us as best friends already." Lillian rolled her eyes playfully and shoved him, causing him to chuckle again.

"Well, best friend, what do you wanna do?" Lilly looked up at him. He looked back down at her with a soft smile.

"Whatever you want to do, Lills."
