Narrator's pov

Moments are made and we never want to leave them. Some are memorable while others fade away like the wind against our skin, never permanent
But in that moment of warmth, Autumn knew she'd never forget it
His chin pressed firmly on the top of her head while his fingers stroked through her hair lightly, the man took a deep breath in as the tears that filled around the rim of his eye rush down to meet his already tear stained cheek
There comes a time in our life where we make hard decisions, those we aren't ready for
Which just makes it harder
The ones where we're not mentally or emotionally prepared to make a decision with such limited time
Autumn had no idea if she made the right choice but letting her father in
God knows she didn't forgive the man but she was willing to see how much he would improve on being there in her life from now on
"I.. Um.. I think you should enjoy the rest of the party" Haun sniffled before he pulled away
Autumn nodded before using the back of her hand to wipe her tear filled cheek
"Y-Yeah.. Thank you.. For.. Coming" She muttered
"I actually got you a gift.. It's not much, I just thought.. Why not" He muttered before pushing he hand behind his back to pull out a small box from his back pocket
His fingers unraveled the small box and revealed a plastic ring with a few bite marks at the end, Autumn raised her brow at the man
"I know it looks weird but it actually has a meaning behind it" He chuckled before holding the plastic ring around his fingertips
"What's that?" The girl asked when he handed it over to her
"I think you were five at the time. Your mother had to fly out of the country so she was at home packing and I had just gotten off work and was passing by the studio you were filming at. June was supposed to take you home but for some reason I stopped by. After your set, you had so much energy, it was annoying" Haun playfully rolled his eyes causing the girl to laugh
She laughed yet she was confused, she had never recalled a memory with her father or the man ever spending any time with her. But then again, she was only five years old, it's difficult to remember our childhood, but it still amazed her that she had a moment with her father that she had completely forgotten
"You had so much energy that a hummingbird couldn't compete, but then again I should have known better since you were filming a commercial for cookie cereals" He chuckled
"Oh God I remember that commercial" Autumn laughed
"The carnival was in town that night, it was actually their last day. I hadn't gone to one since I was... Your age back then. We could have seen the lights from the distance and you kept going on and on and on in the car about how badly you wanted to go there. So we went to carnival and the way your eyes lit up just by the lights at the gate was enough to make my day" Haun pulled a wide smile onto his face, his small dimple on his cheek went deep
"You take a sugar rush child to a carnival, what an excellent father" Autumn giggled
"Hey! I was learning" He chuckled before showing his hand into his pockets
"You played games all night and won every single one. I was honestly impressed, especially at the basketball hoop. A five year old scores more games than an eighteen year old"
"What can I say, I got game" Autumn smirked causing her father to laugh
"When the night came to an end, we went for some onion rings with heavy cheese drizzled all over it. I remembered it was your favorite back then, well... That's what I heard from June. Then the next thing you knew, there was a ring pop on your tray. We didn't know if the cashier had left one for you because you were adorable or if she was just hitting on me"
"I doubt she was hitting on you"
"Hey! Let me feel wanted for a few seconds! Gosh" The man chuckled
"Fine, fine. My bad"
"When you opened it up you went right for the candy. You took one bite and it fell off, you watched it fall right to the ground. I swear you had the cutest pout when your candy landed on the ground. But on the bright side, you got a ring" He chuckled
"Yeah. A ring. Yippie" Autumn playfully rolled her eyes
"It may be just a ring, but it was the best memory I had with you. My favorite actually. I just.. Wanted you to have that reminder" Haun mumbled
"It's okay, I love it. Thank you" Autumn chuckled before bringing the ring onto her fingers
"I also bought you the yatch"
"Ofcourse you did" Autumn laughed
"Are you... Are you happy?" The man asked
Autumn's eyes drifted to his, those familiar blue eyes matched her own hue. A small smile came onto her lips
Was she happy. Just a few months ago that answer would have taken a minute to process, but now... It didn't even take a second
"Yes" Autumn smiled
"Seems like you are.. Especially with her" Haun said before nodding in the direction of the dancefloor
Autumn eyes then drifted towards the brunette in the middle of the dance floor. Music vibrated the floor that changed colour every few seconds. Ethan and Jamie held their hands above their head as they sandwiched for brunette, their hips swaying from left to right and their laughter echoed through the boat, her hair tossing against her flushed cheek everytime she moved. The sight made Autumn's heart smell and a smile fill wide on her lips
"Go on, go have fun" Haun lightly nudged the girl's shoulder
"You'll be okay by yourself?" she asked
"Ofcourse.. I'll be here, just come find me if you need to. I promise, I'll be here whenever you need me" He whispered before placing an arm around the girl's shoulder and pulling her in to press his lips on her forehead
"Now go"
Autumn chuckled before heading over towards the crowd where there were fits of laughter and bodies grinding against each other
"Autummnnn hiiii" Jamie squealed when the girl made her appearance
"Baby" Kate giggled
"Hey beautiful" Autumn whispered before slipping in
The two teenagers glanced at each other immediately knew they needed to give to two some space
Autumn's hands connected to her girlfriend's waist while Kate's arms hooked around her neck
"Are you okay baby?" she whispered
Autumn chuckled softly before her eyes glanced over towards her father by the punch bowl sipping on the fruity drink, scrunching his nose in disgust then slipping his hands into his pocket and pulling out a small vodka bottle and pouring it inside his cup, glancing around to make sure no one saw him
"Never been better" She whispered before sinking her face into the side of Kate's neck
Kate giggled as she pulled her girlfriend closer, her hands around her waist held her tightly as they swayed to the bass of the music
Maybe it was the energy around her but Autumn felt appreciated. There's been one time that anyone had ever done something special for her and that was holding her when she cried and that person was still Kate
The brunette had been many of her firsts without even knowing it. Her mind felt calm and her thoughts were only on one thing
Their warm bodies molded together like clay under heat, creating one as they moved their bodies in such a rhythm of their own hearts on the dancefloor
Autumn's eyes pierced into Kate's while the brunette held the widest grin she could pull off. The stone moon reflecting in her eyes made her brown orbs look even more glossy and wide, melting at Autumn's heart
Autumn smiled. She smiled with more than her teeth, she smiled with her soul that was finally happy and that was all because of the girl in her arms
She was in love with how her lover loved her
With their consideration and emotional warmth, with their need to care for her and listen to her soul deeply
When you can do that with another you have all the real gold this universe has to offer, and though the gates were always open for Kate to leave, love keept a warm home for her soul to return to and to rest in for as long as she have the need
Be it for a few moments or a life time, love does not distinguish, yet always welcomes with sweet grace and humble gratitude.
"Come with me" Autumn whispered
"Oh I was planning on" Kate winked
"No- not tha- oh my god" Autumn shook her head smiling before intertwining her fingers with the brunette
She led her away from the crowd where hyper energy and laughter was, their warm fingertips between each other was stronger than any knot could. They had disappeared away from the screams to somewhere darker
The front of the boat wasn't occupied, the shine of the grey moon was the only thing giving it its light. Kate stood to the edge of the boat with her arms stretched wide out as if she was apart of the memory of titanic, the wind tossing and flowing her brown hair into the air as she giggled
Autumn's hands gripped the metal rails, trapping Kate's body as she hunched over the boat, feeling the cold invade her. The breeze came with that sense of balance, the wisdom to move yet at a steady calm pace
The waves break around the front of the boat in the shallows, their foam crests becoming chaotic lace over the blue. Autumn watched it swirl, mesmerized, as if the movement of the water choreographs her thoughts
"Do you remember when I asked you to be my girlfriend?" Autumn asked
"How could I forget?" Kate chuckled
"It was the day if your red carpet appearance, your parents were screaming at you because you didn't take Brooke to the premier"
"Because I brought you and we both wore plastic bags on our bodies" Autumn laughed
"I think it was making a statement" Kate snickered
"We literally wore garbage bags!"
"So!?"
"Oh my god" Autumn giggled before placing the top of her chin on her girlfriend's shoulder
"You walked on stage and your.. Plastic suit got ripped when your pants got caught on your heels and it ripped your plastic tie off and your boobs popped out and everyone saw it on camera" Kate laughed
"Meh, it is what it is"
"Then you still ran on stage with your hard ass nipples out and you snatched the mic from your Co star and just screamed 'Kate, will you be my girlfriend?' on national television" Kate giggled
"You can't tell me that's not romantic" Autumn pouted before placing a soft kiss on the girl's neck
"Yes. It's romantic" Kate giggled, spinning on her heels to turn and face the girl
Her arms wrapped around Autumn's neck when she held her waist and lifted her up, placing her on the edge of the rail and wrapped her legs around her waist. Kate squealed and pulled her closer, scared she'd fall but the grip of Autumn's hands on her waist relaxed her tension
Her fingers combed through Autumn's hair, passing through a few strands and flipping them over to the side
Autumn melted again, it was simple things that would always get to her. She never lived a moment of her life, before meeting Kate. Her heart was angry when she was without her. Who would have thought that her life would change completely when she met her. We can never truly know how much a person can impact us until it was too late. Autumn never expected Kate to come into her life and switch it all around
And also make her a switch-
But that's not the point
The girl sitting on the rail in front of her was her source of happiness, especially for herself. Kate taught her how to feel again, how to smile again and how to love again. In such a small amount of time, she had grew so attached to the brunette, letting her in and breaking her walls
Her heart said that it was colored in Kate's colors, she was her. Nothing in her belonged to herself, it was all Kate's.
She had fallen for her charms, making her belong to the girl. The unusual feeling she received in the beginning- it ached her heart because she was so confused on what it was
But when Kate's heart came across her own in it's path, every beat was celebrated, by her grace. She had risen to meet her, hidden in her heart
The moment Kate was hers, she rejoiced life in that mini-second. Getting her was all she wanted without even knowing it. She had no more wishes.
Christ, Zeus, Lucifer, Gravity, whoever the fuck had done their deed for her
She was made from Kate, and she was needless without her. A feeling, that she couldn't explain but she was brave enough to admit that she had fallen for Kate
"What's wrong?" The brunette whispered noticing her girlfriend was spaced out
Autumn's blue eyes glanced into her own with something different hidden inside, it didn't scare Kate because she knew she had seen before before in her own eyes. The type of feeling she received everytime she thought of her girlfriend, it was scary but it was real
Falling in love with her was like entering a house and finally realizing she was home. When she smiled at her, she felt invisible hands wrapping around her making her feel safe
When those ocean eyes were locked on hers, it was like she could see galaxies instead of just pupils. Having Autumn in her life made her feel like everything was possible in the world, like she could conquer anything
"I love you" Autumn whispered
The silence wasn't cold or icy, it wasn't the shock you received when standing in front of a doctor, shaking with fear with the news you had to prepare yourself for. No, It was nothing close
"You don't have to sa- say anything. I jus- I wanted you to kn-know" Autumn muttered
Their eyes were still connected, Autumn was strong enough to not dip her head low and act as if she had her tail between her legs. She was far comfortable with Kate to read her every emotion, her heart still raced in her chest but she held her brave face
"I'm sorry if that's not what you wante-"
"Do you have any idea how long I've been in love with you?" Kate cut the girl off
Somethings catch us off guard but our emotions never lie. Autumn's head hung low as her smile spread to her cheek, a small chuckle leaving her lips
"Oh god" she giggled
"Were you scared?" Kate questioned
"So fucking scared, jesus" Autumn whispered before raising her head again to lock onto those coffee brown eyes that still looked hot even during the cold night
"I love you" she whispered again
"I love you" Kate chuckled
"Ugh God I'm in love with you Kate" Autumn grinned
"I love you" Kate giggled
"do you have any idea how good that feels to finally say? God I need everyone to hear this shit. I'M IN LOVE WITH KATE WILSON" Autumn screamed on the top of her lungs
Her voice echoed through the front of the boat, bringing a pink stain on her girlfriend's cheek
"WE KNOW" multiple voices screamed back, it was the cluster crowd on the dancefloor overhearing the girl's scream
"TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH" a familiar voice yelled out causing Kate to bury her face into the crook of her girlfriend's neck
"SHUT UP" Autumn yelled
"LOVE YOU MORE HOE" Ethan yelled out
"I hate them sometimes" Autumn chuckled
"Uh huh, come here" Kate whispered before cupping her girlfriend's cheek and pulling her into her body
Their lips connected so gently, when Kate's kissed her, her brain lit on fire and the warmth spread throughout her entire body, melting away the cold temperature around them. After that she was addicted, she couldn't bare not to be with her and she could barely breathe when she was around
Those kisses were her salvation and her torment. Autumn lived for them and she would die with the memory of them on her lips. She dedicated her life to being with her from the moment of that first kiss after finally admitting their deep emotion. for she knew that if she lost her she would loose herself
She was the half that made her whole
