3rd Person POV
"No---!" Eren pulled the trigger and the person that was shot fell down, the other one backed off. Eren fell on his knees, eyes widened, cried and screamed again. He wouldn't be doing all that if it wasn't for the person that fell down. Because the person that he shot was his mom. He looked at the man behind his mom and saw him standing there still. The man saw Eren looking at him and backed off.
"You…" Eren said with a murderous voice.
"What a-are you d-doing? Go away!"
"This is your fault."
"H-how the fuck did it become my fault when you're the one who shot the gun!?"
"If you didn't push her then this wouldn't have happened!"
"If you didn't pull out your gun then none of this would've happened!"
"I don't care. You need to die," Eren aimed his gun at the man. "Now!"
"K-KISAMAAA---!" Eren fired the gun on the man's head and he saw him fall on his back. He dropped the gun and slowly walked towards Mikasa. After all those noises they made, she still hasn't woken up. He removed the rope that was tied on her hands and feet and sat her up.
Mikasa opened her eyes slowly and felt someone shaking her. She shot her eyes open and saw a familiar figure in front of her. She started to cry and hugged the person in front of her, who is none other than Eren. He hugged her back and rubbed her head gently.
"Why are you here?" Mikasa asked him, not letting go of the hug.
"Uh, because its my house?" He replied jokingly and that made Mikasa get mad a little. "Alright alright. We came home when i told dad about the bad feeling that i had earlier. "
"Oh. Where is Uncle anyway?" Mikasa asked and heard nothing from Eren. "Eren?"
"Outside." He replied, voice blank.
"Outside? You mean he's waiting for us there!?" Asked Mikasa with her voice full of joy and hope, but it would soon die out when she heard Eren's answer.
"He's...dead." Eren said and that made Mikasa let go of the hug to stand up, shocked.
"Uncle? How can that happen? And Aunt! What about Aunt?" Mikasa said worriedly. Eren pointed at his back and Mikasa saw Carla on the floor, lifeless and covered in blood. She covered her mouth and started crying while walking towards her.
"Who.." Eren looked up and saw Mikasa's eyes with nothing but emptiness. Its the same as when he first saw her back then.
"Who did this?" Mikasa asked while still looking at Carla. Eren didn't say anything.
"Tell me who did this Eren! Is it those bastards!? I swear if i see one of them still alive i will kill them myself!" Mikasa shouted and looked at Eren. She stopped crying when she saw him crying too.
"Eren?"
"I-its me." Eren said with his hair covering his eyes.
"You what?"
"I-its because of me."
"What do you mean?"
"ITS BECAUSE OF ME THAT SHE'S DEAD!!" Eren suddenly screamed and made Mikasa take a step back.
"Eh?"
"YES, ITS BECAUSE OF ME THAT SHE WAS KILLED!! IT WAS I WHO KILLED HER!! I...am the reason…she died."
"Eren.."
"You can kick me, punch me, beat me until you're satisfied, i won't retaliate because im the reason why the person that took care of you and became your second mom was killed. I…really am worthless and pathetic as a son, aren't i?" Said Eren, crying but there aren't anymore tears running out since he's been crying a lot. Mikasa stared at him for a few secs before hugging him tight and rubbed his head gently like he did before.
"Shh, don't cry anymore. Just be a good kid like how she wanted you to be and grow up to be a man that she and your dad can be proud of. That way, they'll have no regrets left once they reach the Heavens." Mikasa said comforting him. She didn't expect it to work, but hoped it did even at least a little.
"I-im sorry." Eren said while punhing his thighs.
"Mm, i know."
"Im sorry. Im sorry." Eren said repeatedly and continued to punch his thighs. Mikasa patted his back while still rubbing his head.
"Don't worry, Eren. I will fulfill the promise that i made with your mom and make sure you're safe and happy. I swear in my heart and life that i will not let anything bad happen to you. I swear on that." Mikasa thought with determination and closed off all her emotions, well not really, besides her love on Eren and friendship love on Armin.
They sat there for a few minutes with Mikasa comforting a broken and traumatized Eren. Eren suddenly stood up, making Mikasa wonder what he was up to this time. She asked him what he's going to do and he said he wants to move his mom besides his dad.
"How are we going to do that? Aren't the neighbors going to think that we're the ones that murdered them?" Mikasa questioned him while standing up and walked to his side.
"You think they care? They didn't even do anything when the shootings happened. Turning on their light is probably impossible for them since they didn't open it. Do you still think they care?" Asked Eren while trying to carry his mom's head to sit her up.
"Fine, we'll do what you said." Mikasa agreed and helped Eren sit her up to get a good grip to where they're going to hold her. They tried really hard not to cry again at the sight of Carla's corpse. If she's still there, they're sure she'd tell them not to cry anymore.
They were about to lift her up when they suddenly heard police sirens outside. They panicked and carefully sat Carla again.
"Why are the police here? Who called them?" Eren asked, almost screaming.
"I don't know, but we have to get out of here." Mikasa replied.
"But why? Isn't it better if the police caught us?" Asked Eren again and that made Mikasa look at him with a blank expression.
"Eren, im always at your side but what you said just now is really stupid. I don't know much about crimes and punishments the authorities will give, but i do know that if you turn yourself in, you'll only bring harm rather than good. So don't even think of doing what you just said." Mikasa explained and put a blanket on Carla.
"You kind of have a point. But what about him?" Eren pointed at the injured man that he almost forgot that was with them.
"Eh, don't worry about him. I hit his head pretty hard so he'll not have any memories before and after he got hit. I hope." Says Mikasa and went outside to check if the police are inside. She can't see them properly because of the wall blocking her sight, but the noises that she's hearing are far away from them, meaning that they haven't entered yet. She came back inside and saw Eren looking at Carla again.
"Eren…"
"Don't worry. I won't do anything." He crouched down and hugged his mom. "Mom, we'll be going now. Protect us both with dad and tell him we love him. By the way, tell him to give me the money he was going to give me yesterday. I don't have any more money, hehe."
Mikasa stood there while checking if the police were there. She's starting to wonder why they haven't entered yet, but its also a good thing for them since they'll have more time to escape. She called out for Eren to go now but before doing so, he kissed Carla's forehead and hugged her one last time, Mikasa did the same too.
"Aunt, we'll be going now. I'll take care of Eren, i promise you that." Mikasa said and ran downstairs. Eren told her to stop and she asked him why.
"I need to clean the gun and knife i used. Can you wait for a sec?" Eren asked and Mikasa nodded. She saw him wipe the gun and knife's handle and Mikasa is still wondering why the police haven't entered yet. Eren said that he's finished and they ran downstairs carefully.
They were about to go out on their backdoor through the kitchen but stopped when a light was suddenly focused on them. They looked at their back and saw 3 policemen standing there.
"Don't move. This is the police!" One of them shouted and Mikasa and Eren ran as fast as they could, not looking back at the policemen that were shouting at them. They jumped on the fence and ran away from their former house, policemen still chasing them.
They ran until they reached the 30th house away from them before the police chasing them gave up and only stopped when they were really sure that they weren't following them anymore because they thought those policemen pretended to stop to slow them down. They're gasping for breath, mostly Eren, since that's the first time that they've run that fast and far. They sat down on the middle of the road since no car is driving by anyway. They discussed where they're going to stay the night.
"So, where are we going to sleep?" Eren asked, still gasping for breath but not that much now.
"We definitely cannot stay at Armin's place. We don't want them involved in what happened tonight." Replied Mikasa.
"You're right. So, where do you suggest we should stay?"
"How about at Otose-san's place?"
"Uh, why there? I also don't want her to get involved in this."
"That's true. But it doesn't look like she cares about them."
"How so?"
"Remember how she and Gintoki, i think, acted in their place? Its like they're used to things being like that and they also don't care if its the police or their neighbors causing trouble. They don't care about it as long as no one there would get seriously injured."
"You're kind of right. No one even took a peek when she and Gintoki were having a shouting contest. Though there are still gossips going around."
"So, its decided?"
"Yeah. Let's go there."
They sat there, admiring the view of the sky when Eren suddenly laid his head on Mikasa's lap. A blush appeared on Mikasa's face and started to rub his head again, making Eren want to sleep there.
"No sleeping." Mikasa warned him.
"Yeah, i know." Eren replied and then smiled before saying something again. "This is nice. The atmosphere and all."
"Yeah."
"Hey, Mikasa. I miss mom."
"Mm."
"I miss her cooking."
"Mm."
"Her scoldings."
"Mm."
"And her smile."
"Mm."
"I also miss dad."
"Mm."
"All his goofy smiles and laughter whenever something good happens."
"Mm."
"I miss those times."
"Mm."
They went silent again and Mikasa continued to rub his head. She found sadness and grief on his voice and she started to hum and rubbed his head with more gentle, care and comfort. This calmed Eren down but still continued to say some things.
"Can we go back in time and undo all that's happened?"
"No."
"Can we revive both of them?"
"No."
"Will they still love us up there?"
"Yes."
"How?"
"Because they're your parents. No matter how far away we are to them, they'll still love us, no matter what happens."
"Oh. That's good then."
"Are you going to say something again?"
"Nope. I wanna rest now. But i won't sleep. Promise."
"Alright."
They stayed like that for 15 mins before deciding to go. Eren asked how they're going to go there and Mikasa said she remembered the way to get there. Eren hesitated to go for a moment because of his uniform that's stained with blood. Mikasa said to take it off and leave it there, but Eren's nervousness still insisted that he shouldn't take them off. So he just wore it upside down, the stain looking less noticeable. He hoped. Mikasa didn't even bother to look at him and just grabbed his hand to start walking, though her face is blushing since this is one of the only times she can hold his hand on her own.
After like 30 mins of walking, running and taking a break in-between, they finally reached Otose's place. There's only a few people outside that're mostly cleaning their area. They entered, expecting to see a lot of drunk people since its already 9pm but instead found no one except Otose herself. Otose was about to greet her customer but was shocked to see the 2 kids there. She stood up and walked over to them.
"What are you kids doing here so late at night? Did your parents kick you out?" Otose asked and crouched down in front of them.
"I...don't want to explain it. You'll probably know it tomorrow when you watch the T.V. but, can we sleep here for the night?" Eren explained to her and Otose noticed the stain on his uniform. She already guessed it was blood since Gintoki sometimes goes there covered in blood from fighting someone in the arcade.
"Fine, you can stay. But only for tonight." Otose said even though she wanted them to stay for a few days.
She went inside to probably where she sleeps and keeps her personal stuff and brought out 2 pyjamas for kids. She bought those because its sale not because its for someone.
"Here, use this to change yourself after you take a shower. You'll sleep on the bed in my room while i sleep on the floor. Don't ask me any more questions while i wash your clothes." Otose said and went to the bathroom with them, but letting them use it separately. She already put the close sign on the door even though she would mostly open up until 12 or 1am and went to wash their clothes.
Eren showered first since he's covered in blood. He's actually surprised that the blood on his skin didn't stick that much which made removing it easier. He looked at his hands. His hands that already killed a lot of people, including his mom. He can never go back anymore. He could only accept and change himself to be a better person, not only for him, but for Mikasa, his parents and Armin too. He thought of more positive things that his mom would always say whenever he feels down. He washed himself quickly before letting Mikasa use it.
Mikasa took a quick shower before going to Otose's room. She found Eren already dressed and is on the bed. She told him to go outside since she's going to change and he did as told. He returned a few mins later and laid down on the bed and saw Mikasa combing her hair. She sat down on the bed after she's done since her hair is still wet and talked some things with Eren.
"Where are we going to stay tomorrow?" Asked Mikasa.
"I don't know. But we can't go to Armin's place." Eren replied and looked at her. He got stunned at her beauty and he wondered when did she get this beautiful.
"Where do you suggest we go?" Mikasa asked again but Eren didn't reply as he was still looking at her. "Eren?"
"A-ahh sorry. What are you saying again?" He said with a red face.
"I said where are we gonna go tomorrow? I can't think of any place we should stay at."
"Ohh, that. Let me think…" He suddenly remembered a conversation between his parents. "I overheard my parents saying dad had a son from his first wife. He said he's working in the district next to ours. You think he'll let us stay at his place?"
"I don't know, but we can try. He's your half-brother after all."
"Well, i need to confirm it from him whether its true or not. Anyway, im tired. Let's sleep now. Goodnight, Mikasa."
"Mm, goodnight too."
Eren closed his eyes to sleep and Mikasa rubbed his head again. For some reason she loves doing that to him and Eren didn't mind since he's loving it too. Mikasa's hair is still wet so she'll sleep when its a little bit dry. Otose came in a few mins later and saw the 2 of them already sleeping with Mikasa hugging Eren's head. She smiled and laid down the futon she has and slept too. She'll just ask them tomorrow as to why they're not in their house.
A/N: Okay, i lied about this ending in this chap and i swear it'll end in the next one. Alright best monke Zook is coming and his personality will be completely different from the manga. Also, we got dat sweet little EreMika moment and hopefully those people that ship them found it a little satisfying. Idk shit about the law and its punishments and also if wiping the bloodstain on the things u held will remove ur fingermark on it so sorry about that. I'll explain the things that happened in this arc in the future chaps so hold ur curiousity for now. Aight this is it for chapter 10 and i'll see ya guys on the next chapter.
