"Soul."

"Yeah." I turn my attention from Aang to Sokka.

Sokka digs in his pocket. "Guess what I found."

"My necklace!" I exclaim, wrapping my arms around Sokka's neck. "How'd you get it?"

"The owl asked me to be sure I got it to you."

I smile. "Oh, that's so sweet of him. Could you give him a kiss for me when you see him." I say kissing Sokka's cheek.

"How could you let them take Appa?" Aang yells. "Why didn't you stop them?"

"I couldn't," Toph mumbled. "The library was sinking, you guys were still inside, and..."

"You could've came to get us. I could've saved him!"

"I can hardly feel any vibration out here. The sandbenders snuck up on me, and there wasn't time for..."

"You just didn't care!" Aang yells. "You never liked Appa! You wanted him gone."

"Aang, stop it, you know Toph did all she could." I yelled at him.

"Yeah, she saved our lives." Katara adds.

"Who's gonna save our lives now?" Sokka asks staring into the desert. "We'll never make it out of here."

"That's all any of you guys care about, yourselves. You don't care wheather Appa is ok or not."

"We're all concerned, but we can't afford to be fighting now."

"I'm going after Appa." Aang says flying off into the desert with his glider.

"Aang, wait!" Katara calls out, but he was long gone.

"We better start walking," Katara slumped. "We're the only people who know about the solar eclipse. We have to get that information to Ba Sing Se."

"You think if we dig out the giant owl, he'll give us a ride?"

"No, Sokka." I reply.

The heat from the sun beamed down on us as we walked for a while. We were all dehydrated, tired, and hot.

Toph accidentally bumped into Sokka.

"Can't you watch where you're..."

"No." Toph replies.

"Right. Sorry."

"Come on, guys, we've gotta stick together." Katara says trying to be optimistic.

"If I sweat anymore, I don't think stickin together will be a problem."

I scrunch my nose at Sokka's confession.

"Katara, can I have some water?" Toph asks.

"Ok, but we've gotta try to conserve it." Katara says bending small amounts of water from her water skin into our mouths.

Sokka swishes the water around in his mouth swallowing it. "We're drinking your bending water?" He says smacking his lips. "You used this on the swamp guy!"

"Eww." I shriek.

"It does taste swampy." Toph remarks.

"I'm sorry, it's all we have." Katara confesses.

"Not anymore, look!" Sokka says pointing to a cactus, he runs over to the cactus slicing it in half with his machete.

Sokka and Momo started drinking the cactus juice.

"Sokka, wait, you shouldn't be drinking strange plants." I scold.

Katara grabs Toph wrist as we run over to Sokka.

"There's water trapped inside these."

"I don't know," Katara says backing away.

"Suit yourself. It's very thirst-quenching though."

Sokka hands me a cactus as I spilled it out. "Okay, I think you've had enough."

"Who lit Toph on fire?" Sokka asks.

Momo started circling around in the air, dropping.

"Can I get some of that cactus?" Toph asks.

"I don't think that's a good idea," Katara says putting her arm around Toph. "Come on, we need to find Aang."

I turn around realizing Sokka wasn't following us. I ran back grabbing his hand as we started catching up with Katara and Toph.

"How did we get out here in the middle of the ocean?" Sokka asks.

After a bit of walking, a giant dust of cloud formed in the distance, which sent a gust of wind blowing at us.

"What is that?"

"What. What is what?" Toph asks.

"It's a giant mushroom. Maybe it's friendly!" Sokka yells.

"Let's just keep moving," Katara breathes out. "I hope Aang's ok."

I stood and watched Sokka awkwardly throw his arms around.

I huff grabbing his wrists joining the girls.

Minutes later Sokka started speaking again. "Soul, you're very pretty."

Katara and Toph giggled.

Soul he's on drugs don't intrigue.

"Thanks, Sokka."

"You wouldn't happen to have a boyfriend would you?"

"No, Sokka, I don't have a boyfriend."

"Mhm, why not, you're obviously very pretty. You remind me of the sun, hot and bright."

"Why thank you."

I pull my hair up in a high ponytail. The heat was too much that my hair was sticking to my face.

After I tied my hair, I felt a finger poke my ear.

"Huh, Sokka,What are you doing?"

"Why do you have so many holes in your ears?"

"They're called piercings Sokka."

"Can you give me one?"

"I don't think you'd like them."

He suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.

"What are you doing Sokka? Let's go."

Sokka stared deep into my eyes, leaning in to kiss me.

I dodge his kiss as he falls flat in the sand.

"Katara take him, I can't deal with this anymore." I whine, grabbing Toph and leading the way.

It was starting to get darker out when I noticed a figure flying towards us, landing in the sand.

Katara walks towards it, realizing it's Aang.

"I'm sorry, Aang. I know it's hard for you right now. But we need to focus on getting out of here."

"What's the difference. We won't survive without Appa. We all know it."

"Come on, Aang" Katara groans getting a little frustrated. "We can do this if we work together. Right Toph?"

"As far as I can feel, we're trapped in a giant bowl of sand pudding. I got nothing."

"Soul?"

I shrug looking away sadly.

"Sokka, any ideas how to find Ba Sing Se?" Katara asks.

Sokka lays on the sand. "Why don't we ask the circle birds?"

"Ugh," Katara groans. "We're getting out of this desert and we're gonna do it together. Aang get up. Everybody, hold hands. We can do this, we have to."

The sun was setting when Katara decided we should stop for the night.

We all groaned, dropping to the ground.

"Is there anymore water? Toph asks.

"This is the last of it. Everyone can have a little drink." Katara bends the rest of the water out her pouch, but Momo jumps through it, making it splat on the sand.

"Momo, no," Sokka cries. "You've killed us all!"

"No, he hasn't." Katara says waterbending the water from the sand.

"Oh, right, bending."

Katara hands Toph her pouch as she asks Sokka what he took from the library.

"What? I didn't steal anything! Who told you that? It was you," he says pointing at Momo. "You ratted me out!"

"Sokka, she was there." I tell him.

"It doesn't matter. None of those will tell us where Appa is." Aang mumbles.

"No, but we can find out a which way Ba Sing Se is. We can use the stars to guide us. That way, we can travel at night when it's cool, and rest during the day. Just try to get some sleep. We'll start again in a few hours."

Katara wakes everyone up. "Come on, get up, we need to go."

"Yesterday, my mouth tasted like mud. Now, it just tastes like sand. I never thought I'd miss the taste of mud so much." Toph mumbles.

"Wakey, wakey." Sokka says. I feel wet kisses being slobbered all over my face.

"My spirits, Sokka," I push him off me. "Personal space!" I wipe the slobber of my cheeks. "Ew." I cringe.

"Ow!" Toph groans. "Crud, I am so sick of not feeling where I'm going. And what idiot buried a boat in the middle of the desert?"

"A boat?"

"Believe me, I kicked it hard enough to feel plenty of vibrations."

Aang airbends the sand, revealing a sanbender boat.

I climbed on the boat. "It's one of those gliders the sandbenders use."

Katara joined me on the boat. "And look it's got some kind of compass on it. I bet it can point us out of here. Aang, you can bend a breeze so we can sail it. We're gonna make it."

The gaang turned their head to Sokka as we heard him laughing.

I felt a tug on my hair as I saw Sokka stroking it. I pull Sokka grip out my hair slapping him as he falls to the ground laughing.

We started gliding through the desert. "The needle on this compass doesn't seem to be pointing North, according to my charts." Katara says.

"Take it easy, little lady. I'm sure the sand folks who built this baby know how to get around here. Ask Soul she's obviously a sandbender." Sokka says still high on cactus juice.

Katara gasps. "That's what the compass is pointing to. That giant rock. It must be the magnetic center of the desert."

"A rock?" Toph gasps. "Yea, let's go!"

"Maybe we can find some water there." Katara adds.

"Maybe we can find some sandbenders." Aang mumbles.

"Ah, finally!" Toph sighs once we made it up the rock. "Solid ground."

We walked into a giant tunnel as Sokka took a deep breath. "I think my head is starting to clear out the cactus juice. And look!" Sokka says sticking his finger in the goo on the walls, licking it.

"PTH, UH, UGH! Taste like rotten penguin meat. "Oh, I feel woozy."

"You've been hallucinating on cactus juice all day, and then you just lick something you find stuck to the wall of a cave?" I scold.

"I have a natural curiosity."

Unbelievable. How do I like this kid?

"I don't think this is a normal cave. This was carved by something."

"Yeah," Aang agrees. "Look at the shape."

"There's something buzzing in here. Something that's coming for us!"

We ran out the cave as giant wasps flew after us.

We eventually made it back down to the desert as a group of sandbenders meet us there.

"What are you doing in our land with our sandbender and sailer?"

I look down at my outfit. "Actua-"

"We found the sailer abandoned in the desert," Katara cuts me off. "And this isn't one of your sandbenders, she's my friend. We're traveling with the Avatar, our bison was stolen, and we have to get to Ba Sing Se."

One of the men spoke up, he sounded pretty young, about my age or maybe a little older. "You dare accuse our people of theft and steal our sandbender, while you ride in on a stolen sand sailer?"

"Quiet, Ghashiun! No one accused our people of anything. If what they say is true, we must give them hospitality's."

I laugh. "I'm sorry your name is what!?"

Toph gasped. "I recognize the son's voice. He's the one that stole Appa."

"Are you sure?"

"I never forget a voice."

Aang marches forward. "You stole Appa. Where is he? What did you do to him?"

"They're lying. They're the thieves! Give us back our bender." Ghashiun says grabbing my wrist.

"Hey, let me go!"

"Let her go!" Aang says airbending one of their boats, destroying it.

The boy let go of my arm as I kicked him in the shin.

"Where is my bison? You tell me where he is, now." Aang demands, destroying another sailor.

"What did you do?" The leader asks his son.

"It wasn't me."

"You said to put a muzzle on him." Toph says.

"You muzzled Appa?" Aang says going avatar mode on them bitches destroying their last sailor.

"I'm sorry," the son panics. "I didn't know it belonged to the Avatar!"

Aang's voice became distorted. "Tell me where Appa is."

"I traded him," Ghashiun cries. "To some merchants. He's probably in Ba Sing Se by now. They were gonna sell him there. Please, we'll escort you out of the desert. We'll help however we can."

"Just get out of here, run!" Sokka says grabbing both Toph and I 's waist carrying us away from Aang.

I held Sokka tight as Aang formed an air bubble blowing the sand all around us.

The wind began to die down as I saw Aang and Katara hugging.
