"Okay mom I'm heading out now."
"Kaedan's here?"
"Um no, why ? You needed something?"
"I thought he was dropping you off."
"Oh no I'm taking the bus."
"Why don't you ask your brother to come pick you up Jilly?" I really hated when she called me dad. It reminded me of my father since that was the middle name he picked for me and often called me by.
"I'm just going to the mall with Safi and Lori. I'll be fine mom. Call me if you need anything though." I said grabbing my purse as I left the house.

"So you dumped Denzel yet?"
"What the hell safi ?"
"What ? He's about to leave the state for college and to keep it real witchu I damn sure don't see you lasting in a long distance relationship."
"Don't tell her that. Girl what's wrong witchu. Don't mind her Kiki, y'all gon be straight." Lori assured me as we entered Forever 21.
We did a good bit of shopping today. I mean we spent hours at the mall. It was fine though because Lori and I both had the day off today. The pay I get from working as a waitress at a WingsNTingz really ain't enough to be doing all this shopping but luckily my twin gives me an allowance so I'm able to really survive a month.
Safi and I are just leaving Lori's apartment since she just blessed my head. Lori is gifted when it comes to doing hair. I guess that's why she was able to hold a job at the salon for four years.
"Okay Sis imma see ya later."
"Where y'all headed though?" Lori asked her little sis.
"The block" Safi shrugged and I chuckled at Lori's eye roll reaction. We say our goodbyes then headed down the road to get a bus ride.

"My bad. Your bro ain't here though."
"What make you think I'm here for him?" I raised a brow.
"Shit. I can't seem to figure out why else you gon be standing on the block all by yo self."
"Shooter I'm waiting on Safi, if you must know." I don't even know why I was entertaining a conversation with him or why he approached me in the first place.
"And she asked you to stand here and don't speak to anyone?" He joked.
"I don't fucc with those bxtches over there and I don't even fw you so I'm good with just standing her by myself."
"Shitten me. Well then be my guest shawty. Safi ain't gon be back for a hot minute though considering she went over to Loco's apartment but do ya thing playa." He laughed and my mouth hang open. This girl said she was going to check someone real quick whole time she over there with Loco and I'm standing here looking like a damn fool.
"You gon catch flies shawdy" he said pushing my chin up to close my mouth. I blushed on embarrassment and he chuckled. He actually doesn't seem that bad right now.
"I could drop your home if you want" he offered.
"Um.. you can drop me on the bus stand instead" I countered.
"I don't bite girl. You can relax."
"Fine" I sighed.

Denzel is supposed to leave next week for college and I'm honestly not ready. I'm happy that he'll be going back to school but I'm scared of the strain it will put on our relationship. Safi knew the struggles I faced last time that's why she made that comment earlier. It's like when Denzel is abroad he's a different person. He acts distant with me even though he literally is. I feel like I'm always competiting for his time and sometimes felt like I was a bother. When he is with me it's the complete opposite. It's like I'm the center of his world. Now I'm wondering if I should prepare myself for disappointment or suggest we take a break just to avoid it. I'm so confused right now.

"Nah I'm good. I'm sure your brother would rather not see my face anyway" He was right about that. Kaedan doesn't particularly like Denzel but I guess we're even since his mom don't like me.

"Damn the whole of Harlem here or what ?" The place was damn packed.
"Seems so" kaedan responded looking around for his boys I guess.
"Aight sis you good here ?" He asked and I nodded just as Safi spotted me. Kaedan wasted no time in disappearing though.

"You too but I wasn't expecting this many people here." I admitted.
"I was. C'mon" she said dragging me through the crowd. We passed Kaedan and his whole gang in one corner. You hardly ever see the entire crew together like this. There are faces I don't even recognize.
"Shittenn me. Here comes the man of the night!" I recognized.. Shooter's voice ? He was standing on a table with a mic in his hand cheesing hard as hell with all his grills. I ain't never seen this nigga smile farless this wide. Next thing I knew the place erupted in cheers and typical "Yeerr". I turned looking for what the big fuss was about until I saw him.
"You're lying."
"Damn he got finer didn't he." Safi noted.
"East is out ?" I asked shocked as I watched him walked through the crowd all in smiles.

Shit was mad packed. That'a crazy. I peeped the whole gang came out tonight and damn near the whole of Harlem. Got a nigga feeling mad good to be out the pen. It been a long time coming. I just spent almost two years locked up and it feel damn good to be free. My niggas threw me a Welcome Home party and this the welcome a nigga deserved if you asked me. I spent eight months in the pound when my babymoms Millie was pregnant. I missed damn near her whole pregnancy and the birth of my babygirl Kairi. Soon as I was released I went straight to Millie and seeing my babygirl for the first time had a real nigga tear up. My baby took my entire face on crip. She like my fuccin clone and she stole my heart from the jump. Kairi Channel Brewster the most important person in my life right now and after tonight I'm going right to her. I was out trynna be a good dad and open businesses and shit and two years later they threw me back in on some bullshit. That's when I got locked up for a year then bad behavior gave me a few months extra slapped on that. My right hand Shooter been holding everything together in my absence. Luckily before I got locked up I was able to buy some property and start businesses so a nigga coming out to even more money he went in with. That's what I call money moves. Business been booming from what I been told. My clubs the hottest in New York right now. I plan on turning my image around in the eye of the public. You see I'm East to the Harlem folks but ain't nobody outside of harlem really know the face behind the name East. Police been trynna pin me for years but ain't got nothing solid for one they don't even know who they looking for. After getting kicked out of college I starting dealing in the streets and over time I took over. I been able to keep my identity as East hidden. As far as the public know I'm David Brewster the club owner and businessman from Harlem who just got released for carrying an unlicensed firearm for his protection. Yer that's the story. I plan on making em forget that shit with the plans I got for my city. They not ready for what I got up my sleeves.
