A Knight W/ Shining Eyes: Chapter Forty-Three; Family.

Warnings: none.

IANS POV____

I had often imagined Shane and Diesel being a lot more joyful - happier when it came to them meeting their real son, or being actual parents. Sure, I had practically been raised by Diesel and his family - having grown up in the Alpha packhouse after my parents had passed away. That didn't stop me from feeling like a burden more than a son, even when I was constantly reassured, I always thought that I had been the cause of my parents death - that I had been born as a mistake.

Often, I found myself being saved numerous times by Diesel after my suicide attempts. So when he and Shane had decided to have a kid of their own, the only thought that crossed my mind was "Yeah, that makes sense."

And the only thing me and my wolf - mostly me - could feel was rejection. It's the reason why we ran away and lived alone until stumbling into Neal, a person who became family fairly quickly. Anyways, standing in my parents living room I now know that all of those past insecurities were incorrect. Because they still engulfed me in their arms once I walked through the door threshold, treating me as caring and lovingly as before.

     Nothing's changed.

My. . .brother sits on the couch across from me, eyes gleaming grey. His blonde, almost white hair flailing over them. Tilting my head to the side, I narrow my eyes at him because he looks familiar. And not in the "well duh, he's got my parents genes" kind of way, but -

"Do you know Elena?" Lev and Luke ask at the same time, head tilted in the exact same way I have mine. I straighten, knowing we probably look like freaks to my brother. Step brother?

Said brother's eyes widen, almost looking like they pop out of his skull as he chokes on his hot cocoa. "Holy-" He hits his chest, coughing until he regains his composure. "Poop. Do you mean Elaine?" He doesn't wait for an answer, just blabbering away. "Yeah I know her, she was the pup from the next door pack who came to play with me and my brother."

     "Brother?"

"Yeah, well, my adoptive parent's son, Elliot Ryder. He was gonna be the Alpha of his pack until the war struck." He trails off with a scratch to the back of his head. Studying him a little more I noticed that he didn't seem remorseful for being here, but maybe he was just an expert at hiding his feelings.

     "What happened to him?"

"Don't know," He answers quickly with a shrug. "I'm sure he survives, he's stubborn like that." His eyebrows furrow and I can't help but compare the expression to one of Shanes. "I could've sworn that I saw Elaine leading him out of the forest before I ran for cover - can't be too sure though, I was kinda running for my life."

There's a sensation similar to a blooming flower erupting from my chest - filled completely with relief at that information. Good, she had started her mission; saving someone who had saved her. There's a lot of questions that come with that knowledge. How long will she stay with him? Will she just stay with him until he's safe? And will she be able to be happy on that mission?

"Do you know Elaine?" My brother asks us back, eyes narrowed as though he finally realized that the question was odd to begin with. In response, my mates grunt, and I can't help but send my brother a soft smile.

"Yes, these two are Elaine's adoptive older brothers."

Finally seeming to understand the reasoning behind the question, he snaps his fingers, eyes widening in excitement. "Oh! You're the two dumb ass brothers she always yapped about!"

At that, Luke stammers and Lev murmurs "Dumb ass?" beneath his breath. I can't help but laugh, because this - this is also family.

__

"Regina!" I yell once I spot the Beta surrounded by pups alongside their mate. It's mid-afternoon, with the sun still lighting the ground of the forest and we had just finished our visit to my own pack. While the war had calmed down and claimed its victims, it was still a soft ground to walk on - so my visits would still be limited until everything is settled. Regina and her mate both look up, small smiles decorating their faces until recognition flashes and she's sprinting towards me.

"Little one!" She yells back, engulfing me in a hug when she stops in front of me. The embarrassing thing about the Beta is that she insists on calling me "Little One", which only makes sense when you consider that she's taller than most of the Pack members. She doesn't mean it in ill will, or against me as a person, but it always makes me blush. "Am glad to see you, how are things?"

She asks, her Russian accent as prominent as ever. Grinning, I pull away from the hug, "Glad to see you too and good! We just got back from seeing the family, how was the honeymoon?"

At the mention of the honeymoon her mate's back straightens, a flush crossing his dark skin. "It was more than amazing."

It doesn't seem like he wants to go into detail and I don't force him to, instead I simply nod and pat his shoulder. "Well, welcome to the Pack. If you ever need anything or require assistance you can look for me."

"Oh yes," Regional agrees, landing one of her large hands on my shoulder as she nods towards her mate. "Very good at being Luna."

He nods at the suggestion and I leave when I realize that they're not going to look away from each other anytime soon. Honestly, mates can be so cringey sometimes. Not like I can talk, Niko - my brother, had gagged at any caring gesture my mates made towards me or vice versa. Even though I only got to spend some time with him, I have a feeling he'd get along with Neal perfectly.

Even when it has only been three weeks, being caring and loving towards my mates is natural - there's no hesitation on either of our parts or our roles. The doubt and the fear that had been so persistent and ever-present in the previous weeks had somehow vanished. I'm not saying it was easy, because Fate knows it wasn't. There were still plenty of days where one of us had bad moods, and the remainder of us had to work towards comfort and safety. Our system is nowhere near perfect.

But it's a work in progress.

My eyebrows furrow as I press my hand against my abdomen as it lets out a sudden gurgle. Am I hungry? No. I just ate, there's no way- There's a familiar buckle in my knees and I quickly reach for the kitchen counter. It's warm, so warm and my sense of smell increases - spotting and picking out the fragrant smell of my mates.

     Heat.

The front door creaks open and my eyes snap up to meet Lev's golden ones. He growls, the sound vibrating through my ears and it doesn;t help in my shaking legs. Stuttering, I watch as he inhales sharply, "Lev, h-heat."

"Oh Goddess, you smell delightful." I want to roll my eyes at that statement - I really do. I don't get a chance to though because he's then picking me up, placing me on the counter and slamming his lips onto mine. There's a swivel of movement and I decide to focus on the sensation of his lips rather than the swirling colors of the room. My wolf whines, chanting for our mates and I internally thank Fate that my mates aren't the possessive kinds of Alpha's. If that were the case, they'd fight over sharing an Omegas heat.

But something told me that my mates wouldn't mind sharing.

Picking me up after regaining himself, we stumble into the bedroom, our hands tangling in each other's clothing until it's strewn onto the floor. The only con to being an Omega, aside from its stereotypes, is the slick that comes with my body - it's thick and the sweet scent fills the air as it drops down the inside of my legs.

Lev groans as if the scent is affecting him too, it probably is. "Luke's coming."

As if on cue, the third figure of our relationship appears next to the door, etes taking in the scene in front of him before pouting. "No fun, you started without me."

Growling, I snap away from Lev and claw at his shoulders as I glare at Luke. "And if you don't get in here now there won't be any fun for you."

That seems to kick him into gear and he quickly rips off his clothes, smirking as he approaches me and his brother. "Don't worry, Princess, we'll take care of you."

I groan, tugging his face closer to mine and smashing our lips together. Can these two just shut up and fuck me already?
