C H A P T E R S I X
When they finally arrived at the beach club, they went to stand at the balcony.
"Ok. This is not the beach. Where are the homeless dudes on rollerblades and the guys shoving shitty hip-hop demos at your face?" Tory asked, making them laugh.
"No, don't worry. They'll come after they pass out the hors d'oeuvers." Aisha informed her.
Suddenly Tory turned to her blond friend.
"So, when is your first lesson with Miguel?" She asked.
Maeve blushed. "It's later tonight, we'll meet at his place." She told them.
The others two girls looked at each other knowingly.
Maeve stared at them confused. "What?"
Aisha chuckled.
"So you're gonna be alone in his room. Doing karate which includes physical contact." She smirked.
Maeve just rolled her eyes, chuckling at her friends before she walked away to get something to drink.
Tory followed her, while Aisha got something to eat.
Both blondes approached Aisha's table where she was talking with Sam.
"Hey, look what we got." Tory said excitedly while Maeve was giggling.
She showed them a bottle of vodka.
"Where'd you guys get that?" Aisha asked them.
"Tory swiped it from the bar. You should've seen her, it was awesome." Maeve told her smiling.
But both Aisha and Sam looked unsure, making Tory roll her eyes.
"Oh, relax. All the adults are getting wasted. No one's gonna notice if we have a little fun."
Aisha smiled at her friends, but Sam still wasn't ok with this.
"You should put that back. You'll get into big trouble." Sam told them.
Tory looked as if she just noticed Sam.
"And you are?" She asked her chuckling.
Aisha quickly cut in.
"Oh. Sam, this is Tory. Tory, Sam." She introduced them.
Tory nodded her head knowingly.
"Oh. The Sam." She scoffed, throwing Maeve a look, making Sam furrow her eyebrows at them.
"Come on. Like anyone's going to miss one bottle of vodka. I could swipe half the silverware in this place before anyone would notice." Tory told them.
Sam looked shocked.
"You shouldn't steal anything." Sam told her.
Maeve and Aisha send each other a wide eyed look as the two other girls fought.
"What are you, a nun?" Tory asked Sam laughing, before she turned to Aisha again.
"Come on, are we gonna drink or not?" She asked her.
"Yeah, like she said, no one's gonna notice." Maeve reassured her.
Aisha glanced over at Sam, before she turned to her blond friends.
"Ok, one drink." She told them.
All three of them laughed, Tory threw one arm around each of them as they walked away from Sam.
"That's my girl."
They had fun, telling Tory everything that happened that year.
"So, you're telling me, that Hawk guy just dumped you, because he thought you were dating your brother?" Tory asked scoffing.
Aisha chuckled. "Total jerk move."
Maeve nodded along already a little tipsy.
"Yeah! And after the demo he was like 'Oh, I'm so sorry, don't punish me by dating Miguel.' Like I was going to pull the same shit move he did. And I was like 'No, just try to make an effort and maybe we'll be ok again.' So stupid, I know. And suddenly Moon got there and was all over him. And I was like 'Fuck you, I don't need your lying ass.' And then I walked to the club and met Tory." Maeve told Aisha the story of how she met the tall girl.
Tory nodded her head.
"Yeah, fuck that dude, you don't need a boy to make you feel good!" She told her grabbing her hand.
Maeve smiled at her.
She was glad that she'd met Tory that night, she made her feel more confident and strong.
Suddenly Maeve gasped at them.
"Oh my god! Aisha, tell her about the party when you gave that fake bitch a front wedgie." She told them laughing before she went to go to the bathroom.
When she came back she saw Robby walking around.
She smiled to herself and went to follow her half-brother.
"Hey, long time no see." She told him.
Robby turned around and smiled once he saw Maeve.
"Hey, I've missed you." He told her hugging her.
Maeve giggled.
"Yeah we should definitely meet up more often, now that you're around." She told him.
"Definitely, maybe you could come check out our dojo?" He asked her smiling teasingly.
"Yeah sure." She said sarcastically.
"Anyway, why are you doing?" She asked him as they went down the stairs to the beach.
"Sam's mom's missing her wallet and if I'm right, some guys I used to hang around with stole it." He told her going under the stairs and pushed a board off, making a few wallets and a phone fall down.
Maeve gasped.
"I knew it." He told her.
Suddenly they heard voices coming from the top of the stairs, coming their way.
"Did you see shorty in the green thong?"
Another voice answered. "Oh, man. I ain't thinking about that right now."
Robby grabbed her arm pushing her further into the shadows.
"Stay here ok? I don't want you to get hurt." He told her before getting out his phone and put it so he could film himself.
The shorter boy noticed Robby first.
"This guy here, man."
"Same shit, different summer." Robby told them.
"What are you doing here, Robby?" The same boy asked him.
"Found your stash. You're gonna give it all back." He told them, which made Maeve smile.
He went from a troubled kid taking drugs to a happy boy who wanted to do the right thing.
"The hell we are. You didn't learn your lesson last time? That's cool. We can give you a refresher course."
Robby smirked at them getting into fighting position.
"Bring it." He told them.
But before Maeve could warn him a big guy came up behind him and hit his head, making him fall to the ground.
"What, you forgot this was a three man job?" The boys laughed at him.
"Robby!" Maeve gasped running towards her brother, getting on her knees to make sure he's ok.
"I'm fine don't worry." He told her still holding his head.
"Oh, what do we got here?" One of the boys said looking at Maeve.
Maeve glared up at them.
"Leave him alone." She growled at them, but they just laughed at her.
"You know, for a smart kid, you sure do lern slow." They told him while the big guy grabbed Robby in a choke hold.
Maeve went to help him but the dude with the short hair grabbed her by her waist, making her try to free herself.
"Maybe we need to leave him with something to remember us by." The one with long hair said holding up a switchblade.
"No! Robby!" Maeve desperately tried to free herself and managed to elbow the guy in the stomach, making him lose his grip on her.
At the same time Daniel LaRusso dropped town the stairs and kicked the knife out of the other boys hand.
"Let them go." He told them.
Maeve used this distraction to her advantage and kicked the boy that was holding her in his private parts, making him groan.
And with that the fight began, Maeve didn't even know what was happening, she just tried to punch and kick everyone that was trying to attack her.
Suddenly there was a pull on the back of her shirt making her fall behind Daniel who attacked the big guy.
Once he was down the fight was over
"Your grandpa know how to move like that, huh?" Daniel asked the boys lying on the ground.
Maeve immediately turned to Robby's side.
"Are you ok?" She asked him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Did they hurt you?" Robby asked her pulling her into a hug before holding her at arms length to scan her body for any injuries.
"No, I'm ok." She said.
Daniel looked at them confused.
"Come on, let's go." He pushed them towards the stairs, Robby didn't let go of her waist, scared that someone would attack her again.
Maeve stopped once they were away from those boys.
"I should go now. I'll see you later." Maeve told Robby who hugged his little sister once again before letting her go.
"Thank you Mr. LaRusso." She told the older man, who looked too surprised to answer her.

Later that day, Maeve went over to Miguel's place.
His yaya opened the door for her, letting her in with a big smile.
She went towards his door and knocked.
"Hey, it's me." She told him and before she could let herself in, the door opened and there he stood with a big smile on his face, making her feel warm on the inside.
"So, you're here to lern karate?" He asked her teasingly as he closed the door behind them.
Maeve chuckled at him.
"Yeah, am I supposed to call you sensei now?" She asked him sarcastically.
Miguel put his hand on his chin.
"Well..." he started faking.
"Shut up." Maeve laughed at him, punching his arm, softly.
"Is this outfit appropriate for karate?" She asked him nervously, fiddling with with her hands as she watched him scan her body.
She was wearing her black sport leggings again with a green crop top.
He smiled at her softly.
"You look great. So, let's start with the basics. First let me see your fighting position." He told her, getting back to business.
She awkwardly tried to copy their poses, that she had watched them do every time.
Miguel watched her with furrowed brows.
"Yeah, almost. Just go down a little bit more and position your hands like this, so you're protecting your face." He went to stand behind her and gently put his hands on her waist, pushing her down a little bit.
He then grabbed both of her hands, putting them in the right position.
During this process, his chest brushed against her back a few times and she felt his breath on her neck, making her blush.
"Like this?" She asked him.
He let go of her and went to stand in front of her again.
"Yes, perfect. Now we're gonna start with punching. I want you to imagine a face and then you're gonna act like your punching them, but you don't just stop when you hit their face. You're gonna act like the one you really wanna punch is just behind the first person, that gives you more strength." He told her demonstrating a perfect punch to the air.
Maeve stared at the air in front of her and imagined the big guy that almost choked Robby.
She glared and punched the air with as much strength as she could.
Miguel smiled at her.
"That was pretty good." Maeve smiled back at him.
After a few hours of practicing punches and kicks Maeve started to get the hang of it.
He then faked a attack on her, making her flinch and take a step back.
Miguel chuckled at her. "Yeah that's a problem, you can't participate in a fight if you're scared of getting hit." He told her.
"All right, but your not gonna punch me in the face, right?" She asked him, remembering that time Johnny made them line up in front of Aisha as she punched them.
Miguel chuckled. "No, of course not. I'm gonna teach you how to block."
He got in a fighting position himself before he smirked at her.
"Come on, give me everything you got." Maeve smirked back at him and went to punch him, but of course he blocked her making Maeve try to kick him.
He grabbed her leg with one hand and started to swipe her other leg away slowly, holding her in his arms with his other arm so that she didn't really fall.
"Don't let them grab your leg, that puts you in a vulnerable position." He told her while still holding her.
Maeve was holding onto his shoulders so she didn't fall.
"I'll remember that." She whispered.
They continue to stare into each others eyes, not letting go.
He suddenly started to lean in, making her heart beat go faster.
"Miguel! Maeve! Dinner is finished!" Carmen called them, making them immediately let go of each other.
Carmen was really glad that Maeve was spending so much time at their apartment again, for the whole dinner she asked her questions about everything.
"So, how's your boyfriend?" She asked her excitedly.
Maeve smiled at her. "Oh, we actually broke up a while ago. After the tournament, but that's ok, I don't need him."
Maeve repeated Tory's words, although she still didn't really believe in them, but you gotta fake it till you make it right?
Miguel smiled at her surprised.
After dinner they went back in Miguel's room and Maeve immediately let herself fall onto his bed.
"I don't think I can do anymore karate tonight. I'm already sore." She told him, making him chuckle.
"All right, so which movie are we going to watch?" He asked her already knowing what she was on about.
Maeve laughed. "You know me so well."
He smiled back at her before he laid down beside her.

The next morning Maeve woke up to the sound of Peter Pevensie screaming.
"For Narnia! And for Aslan!". She was confused for a moment, but when she opened her eyes she saw that she was still in Miguel's room.
"Oh, good you're awake. You almost missed the best part again." Miguel told her.
Maeve looked up and noticed that her head was laying on Miguel's chest, so she was literally hugging him while she was sleeping.
She quickly let go of him.
"Sorry. Did we fall asleep?" She asked rubbing her eyes.
"It's nothing. Yeah we did, but I put it on again so we could at least watch the battle." He said excitedly and he didn't seem to think that it was weird of her to sleep on him.
After they finished the first Narnia movie they got up and ate some breakfast.
"See you tonight ,sensei Diaz." Maeve smiled at him throwing him some finger guns.
Miguel chuckled and did the same thing to her.
"Dad I'm home." Maeve yelled once she was in her apartment.
"Hey, fell asleep at Miguel's?" He asked her.
"Yeah, we watched a movie." She told him stealing a Slim Jim from him.
Johnny smirked at her, but didn't say anything.
"I'm gonna go shower." Maeve said over her shoulder.
"All right, but don't use all the hot water." He yelled after her, making her chuckle.
After that nice warm shower, she couldn't help but wonder if Robby was ok.
Maeve though about calling him, but decided it would be better to visit him, so she could see for herself.
And after some research, she found out the location of Daniel's dojo.
She grabbed her keys and made her way towards Miyagi-Do.
The blond was looking for the entrance when she saw her friend also looking confused.
"Demetri? What're you doing here?" She asked him.
He turned around shocked.
"Uh.. I'm just... looking around?" He said, but it sounded more like a question.
"What are you doing here?" He quickly asked.
"Oh, I'm looking for my brother, Robby." She told him smiling.
"Oh, right... Your brother..." He trailed off, looking at his feet awkwardly.
The much shorter girl put a hand on his shoulder.
"It's ok, I won't tell anyone." He looked up surprised, but she was already walking forward with her hands on her hips.
"So... do you think this is the entrance?" She asked him pointing towards a gate.
Demetri smiled to himself, glad for the girl's kindness.
"Yeah, we could try that." He said walking in first.
Maeve immediately noticed Daniel and Robby talking, while Sam was sitting on the ground.
Maeve had forgotten that the brown haired girl would also be present, wich made her feel pretty uncomfortable.
"Excuse me. Uh, it was unclear if the gate was the front door or if we were supposed to ring the doorbell." All of them looked at Demetri dumbfounded, but Robby sent her a small smile, which she gladly returned.
Demetri exhaled, before speaking up again.
"Is that a koi pond? How much does it cost to maintain that?"
Daniel cut him off. "May I help you?"
He looked at both of them.
"Uh... yeah, I wanna lern karate." Demetri told them.
"And I'm just here to see Robby." Maeve added just as awkwardly.
All three of them looked at each other happily.
"You've come to the right place." Daniel told Demetri, which made the boy give Maeve a surprised look at their kindness.
"So are you ok after what happened yesterday?" Maeve asked her half-brother, when he pulled her away from everyone.
He grinned at her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. How are you?" She smiled back at him.
"I'm good too." The lighter blond looked around their dojo.
"This looks really cool, by the way." She told him.
Robby chuckled.
"Yeah, it really does. Are you sure you don't want to join in, even just for today?" He asked her excitedly.
She just shook her head.
"No thanks, I just wanted to make sure you're ok." She told him pulling his head down and messing up his hair playfully, like old times.
"Hey!" He yelled while laughing.
He grabbed her waist trying to make her stop.
He suddenly lifted her up and threw her over his shoulder, making her scream.
This made everyone turn towards the siblings.
Daniel smiled at them in wonder, how could they be related to Johnny Lawrence.
Robby walked her towards the pond and threatened to throw her in it.
"No! Robby! Please, I'm sorry!" She yelled while laughing.
"All right." He said setting her down.
But then he pushed her shoulder making her fall in, but not before she grabbed a hold onto his arm, making him fall inside too.
When they got out again they couldn't help but laugh.
"That was awesome." She told him, still chuckling.
