"I knew when I asked you to

Be cool about what I

Was telling you

You'd do the opposite

Of what you said you'd do

And I'd end up more afraid

Don't say it isn't fair

You clearly weren't aware

That you made me miserable"

The next few days were pretty boring.

Maeve spend most of her time in her room, trying to get over the break up.

She only left her room to go to the dojo, to do something with her dad or to hang out with either Miguel or Aisha.

Everyone knew she wasn't doing well, but no one knew how to change that.

Maeve also started doing more ballet, since Miguel insisted on seeing a new dance every few weeks.

It helped her relax for some time.

But still the blue haired boy never really left her mind for long.

When she wasn't doing those things, she looked at old photos of herself and Hawk or Eli...

It felt strange looking at photos of the once shy boy, but she loved it at the same time even if it made her cry most times.

Maeve even though about calling Robby, but she didn't know what to say, so she held that thought for another time.

The only interesting thing that happened was that her dad upgraded their car into an Cobra Kai mascot.

He was very excited about that and today was the day he invited her and Miguel to drive it for the first time with him to the dojo.

So she had to get up and get ready.

Now since the break up she didn't really see the point in dressing up, so she spent her days in leggings and crop tops and occasionally shorts when it got too hot.

When she was finally done, they met Miguel outside.

Johnny and Miguel seemed to take all this very seriously since they put on sunglasses at the same time before fist-bumping.

Maeve giggled at them before she sat down in the backseat, letting them have their moment.

Suddenly as they had to stop, another car stopped with two women beside them.

They basically looked at her dad and Miguel with heart eyes, making her roll her eyes.

Miguel looked over to them and she could see him starting to smile, but her dad held him back.

"Don't look. Play it cool." He advised him and he immediately copied what Johnny was doing.

That exchange made Maeve laugh as they started to drive again.

"Oh my god." She said still chuckling at them.

——————

At the dojo Miguel convinced Maeve to distract Aisha so that he could call Sam on her phone, since she wouldn't answer when he called her.

This confused Maeve, she thought he got over her since he wasn't in a bad mood anymore and rarely ever talked about her.

And for a moment she almost felt jealous, but she quickly pushed that feeling away.

She knew she still loved Hawk even if he didn't return those feelings.

Still, she couldn't help but feel a little bit disappointed.

Miguel also made it his mission to include Maeve in conversations again, since she had distanced herself because of Hawk, but he convinced her that she didn't have to talk to him.

So now she was watching Hawk, Aisha and Bert decided new nicknames for the newbies.

Hawk spoke up first. "What do you think? Shithead one and shithead two?" He chuckled.

"I was thinking more Mary-Kate and Asshat." Aisha said making Hawk laugh.

The two new boys looked uncomfortable, but the taller one spoke up.

"Well, I'm Chris-" he was cut off by Hawk yelling at him.

"Did I say you could speak?"

This made Maeve glare at him.

She didn't understand why he was being so mean, he out of all people knew how that made them feel.

Miguel approached them shaking his hand with a grin.

"Guys, look, they're just messing with you."

Chris smiled at him. "Thanks man."

But Miguel wasn't done. "Besides, everyone knows your names are Assface and Douchebag."

They all laughed, but the boy's face fell making her feel bad.

"Hey, I'm Maeve. Don't listen to them, they were just as nervous on their first day. I hope you enjoy your first lesson." This made them smile at her.

Suddenly the door opened and a old man with a bag entered the dojo.

The group of four watched him approach.

"Who's that?" Hawk asked them.

"I don't know." Miguel said, he then looked at Maeve.

She just shook her head with an curious face.

Miguel decided to approach him, while the others watched.

"Hey, uh, can I help you, sir?" He asked him.

The strange man looked Miguel up and down smirking.

"No. But maybe I can help you."

Before Miguel could answer, Johnny approached them. "Hey." He said looking at the man.

Miguel turned around looking thrown off. "Uh, sensei..." He trailed off, swinging his arms around pointing at the man.

The man went to talk to Johnny who didn't look happy.

When the training begun, Maeve sat down on her usual seat making the old man stare at her, which she tried to ignore as her dad started to speak.

"Class, we have a visitor. This is Mr, Kreese. He's just an observer. Pretend like he's not even here. Mr. Diaz, warm them up." Johnny said, before standing next to Kreese.

Miguel went to stand in front.

He bowed making everyone bow to him.

"Fighting positions!" He yelled making them copy him.

"Front kick. Yuh!" He demonstrated and everyone else did the same thing.

"Forward strike. Yuh!" They did, as he said.

"Side dap. Yuh!" Suddenly everyone did the dap, making Maeve and everyone else laugh.

Johnny looked embarrassed.

"What the hell was that?" He asked.

"We were just messing around. We have eleven and a half months until the next All Valley." He answered honestly.

"Yeah, besides, we already know how to kick ass." Hawk said smirking, making everyone agree, but Maeve scoffed rolling her eyes making his face fall.

Johnny didn't think it was funny either.

"Oh, yeah, really, huh? So, you know everything. There's nothing left to lern, huh?" He asked them.

Suddenly Aisha giggled, making Johnny step right in front of her.

"What's so funny, Ms. Robinson?" Johnny asked her.

She shook her head still grinning. "I'm sorry, sensei. You just wouldn't understand."

He looked very serious. "Try me."

"It's a snake-do." She said chuckling.

This made everyone else chuckle too, even Maeve.

"What's a snake-do?" Johnny asked annoyed.

Everyone but the new students made snake shapes with their hands making hissing sounds.

Johnny was pissed.

"Quiet!" He screamed.

"Five a.m. tomorrow morning. Corner of Fulton and Reymer. You don't show up, and you're off the team. Class dismissed." He said angrily and left.

Kreese followed after him.

Maeve sighed annoyed, knowing she also had to be there by the angry look he threw her when she also did the snake-do.

——————

So the next morning Maeve mixed cement with the other students and to her annoyance she was in a group with Hawk and Miguel.

She couldn't help but notice the short glances Hawk sent her way, making her feel warm inside.

Now the sun was up and it was getting hot.

Maeve already threw her old hoodie aside, so she was now only wearing a crop top still sweating.

Miguel was mixing the cement while Hawk put the powder in.

Maeve put the water in.

When Johnny approached them, Miguel spoke up.

"Sensei, why are we mixing cement?" He asked still confused.

"No questions." He said making Miguel answer with an short. "All right."

Johnny looked at all of them. "Keep stirring!"

He then went to talk to Kreese.

It was Maeve's turn to get the pack of cement.

Some guy carelessly threw the big bag at her to catch.

She would've fallen onto the ground if it wasn't for two arms pulling her into a strong chest.

"Hey, asshole! Look where you're throwing your shit!" Hawk yelled angrily at the new kid who cowered away from him after saying a small "sorry.".

Hawk's grip on her hips hadn't loosen the entire time making her blush.

Only when the boy was gone did he turn her around and grabbed the cement off of her.

"Are you ok?"

She watched him scan her body of any injury's but couldn't find any.

After all this time, she thought it would feel good having him talk to her again, but instead she only felt a rush of anger and heart break.

"I'm fine. Thank you." She replied coldly before grabbing another smaller cement bag and got back to work.

Miguel quickly went back to mixing the cement, acting as if he didn't just hear everything they said.

He was surprised that she reacted so harshly, he had thought that she would immediately forgive him, which had his shoulders feeling heavy.

Instead held back a happy grin.

Suddenly there was a loud honk and they saw a cement truck approach.

"Oh, fuck me!" Maeve said annoyed, making those around her look at her shocked.

The driver stepped from the vehicle.

Johnny approached him and shook his hand talking to him for a moment, before the man handed him the keys walking away.

That made them all look at each other confused.

Johnny made his students stand before him and this was the first time Maeve was standing with them.

"You think winning the All Valley gives you the right to goof off? Well I got news for you. Winning one championship don't mean squat. A true champion never stops training. You gotta keep moving forward... or else you could get stuck exactly where you are. It's like the cement in this truck. That drum doesn't start turning, the cement inside will harden and get stuck. Is that what you want to happen to you?" He asked.

"No, sensei!" Everyone but Maeve yelled.

She only said "no" looking around uncomfortably.

"Good. Then climb up, get inside, and make it spin." He told them.

Instantly confused murmuring began.

Maeve saw Miguel and Hawk looking at each other.

"Sensei, we're sorry for messing around." Aisha said.

"We learned our lesson." Hawk continued.

But Johnny was not done yet, he pushed the latter down and pointed at it. "Get in!"

Miguel spoke up. "Sensei, this seems dangerous. I mean the fumes alone-"

"Quiet!" Kreese was the one who cut him off making Maeve glare at him.

The older man stepped towards them.

"This man led you to the mountaintop, and you question him? Look at you. Look at all of you. I can't believe this pathetic pack of pussies competed in the All Valley, and let alone won. It's an absolute miracle. And who's responsible for that miracle?" He pointed at her dad.

"Johnny Lawrence. The best student in the history of Cobra Kai. My student."

Maeve looked at her dad surprised.

This couldn't be the man who almost killed him, he wouldn't let him in again, right?

"You were sensei's sensei?" Hawk asked astonished.

"You better believe it kid. And I tell you I've never trained a tougher student in my whole live. So, if you know what's good for you, you better listen to every goddamn word he says." With that he stepped back again.

Miguel was the first one to step forward. "I'll do it sensei."

Johnny nodded at him as he climbed up the latter.

Hawk was close behind him.

Maeve caught Aisha's eye and with one nod they followed behind.

Miguel looked inside the drum.

"Holy shit." He exclaimed, then stepped inside.

They could hear a loud "whoa!".

Maeve grew worried.

"Miguel are you ok?" She asked, making Hawk roll his eyes and go in after him.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just watch out, it's slippery."

Maeve was next. "All right." She said to herself before climbing in.

She was almost in when she suddenly slipped, letting out a loud yelp.

Immediately the two boys ran towards her.

Hawk got to her first grabbing her arm to help her get up.

Maeve glared at him.

"Stop it! You can't just ignore me and suddenly act like everything's ok again!" She yelled at him with that same hurt look in her face she had in the restaurant a few weeks ago.

She slapped his arm away making her fall back again, this time Miguel was behind her, grabbing her waist so help her steady herself.

Hawk glared back at them.

"Yeah, because I'm the bad guy here." He said sarcastically.

He then looked at Miguel. "Don't fall for the same bullshit, everything that happened with Sam'll happen again."

And with that he turned around and tried to get this thing going. Maeve and Miguel looked at each other confused.

"Are you guys done?" Aisha asked from the top.

Maeve was now standing in between Aisha and Miguel.

"Uh-uh. This is weird." Miguel said, making Hawk nod from his other side.

"For sure."

Suddenly her dad looked into the drum.

"Don't just stand there. You wanna get stuck? Move!" He yelled at them.

That made them move to push against the walls.

Everyone started groaning, this thing just wouldn't move.

"Come on. Let's get pushing." Miguel motivated them.

Not long after they could hear Johnny from outside.

"Let's go, guys! Move it!" He yelled.

"Come on. All of you, go!" Miguel said again and after a few attempts at pushing, it finally began to turn.

A few students fell into the cement, but they got them back up together.

"We're doing it! All right faster! Faster! Faster!" Hawk yelled excited.

He caught Maeve's eye and they both smiled at each other and for that moment everything seemed to be ok again, there was no anger or jealousy.

When they were done, Johnny had them line up to hose the cement off of them, which didn't work that well.

"You should be proud of yourselves. I know I'm proud. Your parents would be proud, too, if you told them what we did today, which we won't. You pushed forward like champions. Never stopping. Never being satisfied. Never giving up. And if you keep pushing and keep moving forward, you're gonna go to places you never dreamed of." Johnny told them and smiled at Maeve and Miguel, who nodded at him, making Johnny nod back.

——————

After the long day of hard work, Maeve was exhausted.

She immediately took a shower to get all the cement off.

When she was finished, she made herself something to eat and put on a movie.

It didn't take long for her to fall asleep on the sofa.

A few hours later Miguel entered the apartment.

"Sensei, Maeve, you home?" He shrugged his shoulders when nobody answered and let himself in.

"I used your spare key to drop off some food. My mom doesn't want you guys eating slim jims for breakfast anymore." He trailed off once he saw Maeve sleeping on the sofa.

He realized that Johnny wasn't home.

He smiled softly, putting the container on top of the table, before he approached the short girl.

She was wearing his hoodie that was way to big for her.

She also wore some shorts and fluffy socks.

He took the blanket that laid on the floor next to her and put it over her sleeping form, tucking her in.

He stared at her for a few seconds smiling softly, brushing some hair away from her face, before he stood up again to put the food into the refrigerator.

He looked at the photos of a young Maeve that were hanging on the refrigerator, when he suddenly noticed a photograph of a young boy and took it off.

"Robby Keene?" He mumbled confused.

He looked back at Maeve and just now noticed that they did look kind of similar.
