(Third Person Pov)
Y/n, who had lost consciousness, stood inside a dark space. Feeling confused, he walked and walked until an hour had passed, yet he still hasn't found anything but darkness.
'That's weird,' he thought to himself. Despite knowing that it won't lead him anywhere, he still kept walking. It was the only thing he could do and nothing else.
After a while, he finally saw a small light. Smiling at the sight, he increased his pace and kept walking faster until he started running. The light grew brighter and brighter as he was close to it.
But suddenly, the light became dimmer, causing him to become more desperate to reach for the light.
At the last moment, he saw a shadowy figure standing in the light. It felt like his mind was playing with him, but he swore that he saw the person was looking at him. A smile formed on their face.
Y/n: "Who are you-"
He didn't manage to finish his sentence before he returned to reality. He woke up and found out that he was being carried by someone and that it was night.
Ram: "Barusu, head to the right of that broken tree ahead! You're too slow!"
Subaru: "Don't ask any more of me... I'm running... as fast as I can!"
Rem: "Subaru-kun... What..."
Subaru: "You're awake, Rem?"
Y/n: "Me, too."
Subaru: "And you too, Y/n!"
Y/n: "That's what I just said."
He looked around and found out that they were still inside the forest. Ram was carrying him while Subaru was carrying Rem. It was due to how light Y/n compared to the others.
Ram: "Thank goodness, Rem. You really are a handful. You too, Y/n."
A mabeast noticed them and was running their way. Noticing this, Ram immediately killed it by using her spell. They headed the other way it came from, trying to avoid the rest of the pack as much as possible.

They took a break inside the bush, gasping for air as much as they could. They had been running and escaping from those mabeasts for hours. It was tiring them out.
Rem: "Why... Why didn't you just leave me alone? For you, sister and Y/n to show up makes it all pointless. I have to do it by myself. No one else needs to get hurt anymore..."
Subaru: "Too late for that. Ram and I are already torn to shreds, maybe even more than you! My right shoulder is dislocated!"
Y/n: "Huh? Want me to check it out?"
Ram: "You shouldn't... It would just drain your gate and increase the chance of damaging your gate."
Rem: "It's... It's my fault. So I have to take responsibility. If I don't, I can't do anything for Sister or you... I haven't changed at all. I committed the same sin I did back then!"
She said as tears started to fall from her eyes. They couldn't see it due to her hair blocking the view.
Rem: "Because I hesitated to extend my hand to you... You nearly died."
Y/n: "Rem... It wasn't your fault. In the first place, we were the ones who dragged you with us. You helped us even though it was dangerous, thank you for that. But you know..."
Lifting her head up, she looked directly at the soft (e/c) color.
Y/n: "Having you do this much, even at the point of risking your life once again, is pretty stupid! If you wanted to do this, then you should have contracted your sister, Subaru or some other people you know of! I didn't ask you to save me. Honestly, even if you managed to kill all of them, what would have become of you? And what if it was too late by then? Have you ever thought of how others would be affected by your actions?"
Rem: "I..."
Y/n: "You have nothing to blame yourself for, Rem. It wasn't your fault at all. In fact, I don't blame you, and neither does Subaru and Ram. So don't feel down, okay? After all, the only thing I would regret if I were to die is not seeing your beautiful smile for the last time."
Rem: "Y/n-kun..."
A small blush appeared on her cheeks as a rustling sound could be heard. Looking around, the mabeasts had found them.
Subaru: "Damn... Ram, which way should we run to get outside the barrier?"
Ram: "We'd have to run left at full speed. What's your plan?"
Subaru: "I could shove Rem toward you and run tragically to the right-"
Ram: "You'll draw the ulgarm's attention while I take Rem and Y/n and run?"
Subaru: "Could you not expose my attempt at hiding my embarrassment so easily?!"
Rem: "There's no way you will survive. Please don't. If you do that, I will..."
Subaru: "Don't worry. You don't know my brilliant plan to round up all the mabeasts."
Rem: "Subaru-kun, why would you do all this?"
Subaru: "Well..."
Grabbing Rem, he handed her over to Ram and did a pose.
Subaru: "You were my partner for my very first date. I wouldn't be so heartless as to desert you."
Y/n. "Hey, weren't I there too? And besides, Ram put me down. I can walk by myself now, thanks."
She hesitated a bit but did what he said and put him down from her arms. His movement was a little bit funny at first, but he quickly recovered and could move normally.
Subaru: "Well, you had just ruined everything, Y/n."
Letting out a sigh, he smiled and gave both Rem and Y/n a quick pat in the head.
Subaru: "All right, guess I'd better go and do this. Take care of Rem and Y/n, Onee-sama!"
Y/n: "Sorry that I can't boost you."
Subaru: "It's fine. Don't worry, I don't need it, even though it would help a lot."
Ram: "I'll be praying for our safe reunion, Barusu."
He started running in the opposite direction to where Y/n, Rem and Ram were heading. Looking behind, Y/n became somewhat hesitant as he followed Rem and Ram.
Y/n: 'Good luck, Subaru."
Ram: "Barusu's risking his life to buy us time. Let's make the most of it."
As they continued to run, Subaru had already attracted the attention of the ulgarm's. While running, he saw a group of them in front with the little puppy.
Subaru: "I'd love to finish you off right about now..."
The puppy started to change its size as its body grew bigger and bigger. It grew so big to around three times the size of a normal ulgarm.
Subaru: "I have an ace up my sleeve, too! It's you and me, pal... Get ready!"
Back at where Y/n, Rem and Ram were running; both of them saw what kind of danger Subaru was facing. Y/n knew especially well that with his condition, he won't make it. And if he dies here, all the efforts they made would be a waste.
Not only that, but he also didn't want to see his best friend dies again. All these times, he had never once seen the corpse of his dear friend. So... By running away like a coward, the same thing is going to happen again...
Y/n: "Tch."
Rem: "Sister! Subaru-kun is... Subaru-kun is..."
Ram: "Don't look back, Rem. Barusu's determination will be for nothing."
Remembering the time she had spent with him and Y/n, she screamed.
Rem: "Sissy!"
And at that word, Y/n became determined. Determined to save his friend, Natsuki Subaru. When Rem forced Ram to fall down, he began to run backward and head to where Subaru was.
Y/n: "We will always support each other, no matter what. That promise... I don't want to break it!"
Ram: "(N/n)! Come back here!"
Rem: "Subaru-kun, Y/n-kun!"
Subaru formed a smile as he drew out his sword and took a stance.
Subaru: "Shamac!"
He yelled; black smoke appeared in his surrounding, blinding everyone in it except for him and Y/n.
Taking this chance, Subaru rushed at the big ulgarm and stabbed it in the throat before jumping away.
Subaru: "I could do without the bugs, but I appreciate the bocco fruit! Thanks for that, brats."
A growl was heard from behind him as the ulgarm was behind him.
Subaru: "Crap-"
He couldn't manage to dodge its paw as he was pinned down. But at the moment he was pinned down, an invisible projectile flew by and cut the ulgarm paw off that was holding Subaru.
Y/n: "Subaru, catch!"
Tossing the sword in its sheath, Subaru grabbed it and pulled it out before stabbing the beast's mouth; making it scream from pains.
Subaru: "What's the matter? Bring it on, boss garm!"
It seemed to accept Subaru's challenge and went for a bite. Subaru closed his eyes as Y/n tried to use his magic, but wasn't able to make it in time. When he thought that everything was done, he heard a voice.
???: "Ulgoa!"
A wave of flame fell down from the sky, incinerating the giant ulgarm immediately. Several more fell and killed every single one of them, leaving none behind to live. Looking at where the direction came from, a familiar clown could be seen.
Roswaal: "Oh, my! You look an absolute fright!"
Subaru: "You're way late, Ros-chi..."
He relaxed and fell down due to exhaustion.
Subaru: "But I'm surprised you knew where to find me."
Roswaal: "In the village, Emilia-sama drove it into me quite thoroughly..."
He started to imitate Emilia's voice in front of Subaru.
Roswaal: "'Even if it's rash or reckless, he'll use magic if he's cornered, so don't lose sight of him from above,' she said."
Ram: "Roswaal-sama!"
Looking behind, they saw Rem and Ram walking to them. Y/n laying down on the ground. His face was facing towards the sky.
Ram: "I am sorry to cause so much trouble for you!"
Roswaal: "Oh, not at all. In fact, you both did fine work in my absence. I shall most certainly show my gratitude for your actions. You have my word."
Rem: "Subaru-kun!"
She tossed her body at him.
Subaru: "Rem, that hurts! Stop! I'm kinda hurt all over right now..."
She stood up and saw Y/n nearby. Quickly crawling to him with Subaru, she went to hug both of them.
Rem: "You're alive... You both stayed alive... Subaru-kun, Y/n-kun! Subaru-kun, Y/n-kun! Subaru-kun, Y/n-kun!"
Subaru: "This... again..."
Y/n: "I'm going to sleep... So... Tired..."
Closing their eyes, both of them lost their consciousness.
