I had my first kiss in a sea
of neon lights and
roller skates and
music thumping off that black carpet
with brightly colored shapes on it.
Her lips were soft
like in fairy tales
when the princess finds true
loves kiss
and everything's meant to be.
We were so
small against the mass
of sweaty teens making memories,
just two girls
high on happiness and a
love they'd always remember,
thinking they were on top of the world.
I had my first heartbreak soon after
and even though the universe has moved
on from the two girls
who planned their future together
but never got to see that plan,
my heart still aches sometimes
weighed down memories of neon lights
and roller skates
and the girl I loved.
