A Walking Contradiction

I knew a girl once,

a walking contradiction,

she was soft and lovely

but she was all sharp edges.

She was the kindest sort of mean,

too nice to be mean,

and to mean to be nice.

She was fueled on fire,

that kind of flame you only see in passionate people,

yet she never had an ounce of rage in her,

never angry,

just always mad,

the kind of mad

where you did know

if she would explode

or smile

or both.

She never yelled,

but she was always yelling,

talking too loud to be quiet

and too quiet to be loud.

Positive of what she wanted,

but what she wanted,

she didn't know.

Truthful and honest,

yet she was so good at lying through her teeth,

you never knew if she was blunt,

or being sarcastic,

maybe she was both

and just sugarcoated everything

with a smile.

She was perfect,

absolutely stunning,

but made up of only flaws,

and negative spaces.

I knew a girl once,

a walking contradiction.

Why of course,

she was me

and everything but.
