Narrator's pov

"What do you mean by that?" Lisa asked
"It means.. Autumn is unpredictable, she's unreadable, but now I can see she's doing better"
"Oh.. Are you two best friends?" Lisa asked
Kate bit her bottom lip to contain her smile before she glanced at the young Hester girl
"I'm not sure what we are. But I do know I care about her. And I'll continue to care. For the both of us" Kate said
"Well.. Add me to the list" Lisa grinned causing Kate to chuckle
"I'm sure you'll love her, just.. Give her some time to adjust to it all"
"To a new sister?"
"To something good actually happening in her life" Kate stated
"Sounds like she's had it rough" the smaller girl mumbled
"Rough can't even describe it" Kate said as she placed her hand on the door knob
"Where are we?" Lisa asked before the girl opened the door
"My room"
"Why are we going to your room?"
"Because we're looking for Autumn" Kate chuckled, knowing the girl would be in there
The brunette then pushed open the door, her fingers immediately found the light switch and flicked it on. Her eyes then landed on the raven hair girl sitting on her bed with her knees clutched to her chest and her dark hair falling over her face
Lisa furrowed her brows and took a step forward, only to be held hack by the brunette who shook her head. It was clear to Kate that Autumn wasn't ready to have someone touch her as yet. She needed to be by herself for a few more seconds before approaching her, especially when she's that vulnerable
"Autumn?" Kate whispered
"I... I don't want to be in this house right now"
"It's okay, we can go somewhere"
"Please" Autumn whispered
The brunette gave her a small smile before glancing at Lisa, mentally signaling her to go over there. The smaller raven hair girl nodded before slowly approaching her sister
"I.. Um" Lisa whispered
Autumn's eyes glanced up to the smaller girl while her brows furrowed, she didn't notice the girl's presence until now
"I know we don't.. Know each other that well. It's actually the first night we're meeting and everything seems so frustrating. Especially with yo-your parents showing up so suddenly and just harassing yo-"
"They're not my parents" Autumn stated, causing the girl to furrow her brows
"What?"
"They're. Not. My. Parents" Autumn gritted before her eyes met Lisa's
"And they're not yours either"
Lisa's lips parted to speak but she remained silent. The girl never felt apart of her new family since day one. It's always been her and her alone, just as it has always been with Autumn when she was younger. Lisa was repeating a cycle of Autumn's life and the actress wasn't going to let that happen
"You should speak up for yourself, you know that?"
"What?" Lisa asked
"If you're quite, they have an advantage of doing whatever they want with you. They think you're weak, they think you'll take whatever bullshit they hand you and you can't say one shit about it. But when you're loud, they're threatened" Autumn said
Kate raised her brow as she looked between the two sisters. She understood what Autumn was saying yet she was learning more about the girl. Her parents seemed stunned when Autumn actually raised her voice higher than theirs. It was clear they were taken back by the girl, not expecting such an uproar from a dormant girl they were accustomed to.
"I'm not sure if I can be loud" Lisa giggled
"I'll teach you" Autumn stated as she rose to her feet
"R-really?" the small girl asked
"Yes. You're family now aren't you?" the girl asked
There was a smile that unleashed into the darkness of the room and set it ablaze. Lisa's grin reached her ear as her cheek turned a slight shade of pink
Lisa reached forward, wrapping her arms around Autumn's side as she buried her face into Autumn's chest, holding her tightly. The actress's eyes opened wide as she stared at Kate with fear expanding into her pupils
"What. Sorcery. Is. This" Autumn gritted causing the brunette to giggle
"She's hugging you" Kate smiled
"I know. But.. Why" Autumn gritted again
"Because you're a sweetheart" Kate smiled
"Ew" Autumn hissed, stiffening her body in the girl's embrace
"Oh don't give me that, you're the one that stuck up for your baby sister" Kate giggled
"Ugh God, don't remind me" Autumn rolled her eyes
The brunette held a smirk on her face as she took a step forward, walking a bit closer to the raven hair girl with a mischievous smile
"Oh no" Autumn mumbled
"Yes" Kate smirked, taking a step closer
"KATE, NO" Autumn's eyes widened as she also took a step back
"Yes" The brunette giggled
Autumn's heel collided with the edge of the bed, allowing her to fall flat on her back with Lisa giggling in the corner
"Kate!" Autumn hissed when the brunette climbed onto the bed
Both of her knees were on either sides of Autumn's stomach as she held a smile, towering over the girl and knocking the air out of Autumn's lungs
"Yes?" she smiled
"Don't you dare-" the raven hair girl was cut off by Kate wrapping her arms around her stomach and holding her tightly
"-Hug me. Ughh" Autumn rolled her eyes feeling the warm body on her own invade her senses
"Too late" Kate chuckled as she placed her chin on the girl's chest, locking onto her eyes
"I hate you" Autumn glared
"No you don't" Kate grinned brightly
Somewhere in that smile, Autumn felt her heart flutter in her chest. The anxiety she felt from being tackled to the bed had slipped away when Kate's smile lit her senses. She hadn't realized it but her own lips curved to match the girl's grin. Autumn chuckled softly before shaking her head
"You're right. I don't" She chuckled
"See, I knew you'd warm up to me eventually" Kate giggled
"Yeah yeah yeah, don't rub it in my face" Autumn rolled her eyes
"Oh I plan on making you never live this down" Kate smirked
"Dumbass"
"Stuckup" Kate said
"Blind bitch"
"Puppy killer" Kate giggled
"I'd never harm a puppy. A cat maybe because ew. But a puppy, never" Autumn stated as she propped herself onto her elbow, with Kate still on her lap
The brunette giggled when her body fell backwards, Autumn placed her hands on the girl's hip to keep her stable while Kate's arms hooked around her neck
Blue and brown connected as one, living in a poem written for them. Their sweet smiles that glowed filled the room with a warmth, their hearts thumping slightly in their chests. Something filled the air between the two girls, something that was now discovered but hidden at the same time.
Kate's fingers played with the small hairs on the nape of Autumn's neck, circling around her skin and leaving a trail of goosebumps along her back. A deep exhale left Autumn's nostrils as her teeth bit down on her bottom lip
Sometimes their connection felt like both sides of a magnet, pushing and pulling. Drawing each other in yet pushing each other apart. The desire to hold, to touch each other was overwhelming which leads to them pushing away
It was as if their hearts couldn't handle it, it was as if they were illegal to each other. Yet so desirable.
"Um... You sure you're not dating?" a voice said, snapping the girl's attention to Lisa
"What?" Kate asked
Lisa may not know the two girls that much but she could obviously spot something going on between them. It was shown by the small glances they'd steal from each other or the tiny touches they'd give. But the most obvious one was the way their eyes connected.
But it seemed as if neither of them could pick up on their feelings or maybe they weren't ready to accept it in Lisa's eyes. So she decided not to push it
"I- nothing. Didn't you say we were leaving the house?" she asked
"Ugh God yes, I need to get out of here" Autumn groaned
"Where will we go?" Lisa asked
It was only then did a smile pull across Kate's lips that seemed so sinister. A smirk of evil and eyes of fire. Autumn raised her brow as she stared at the girl
"What evilness is going on in that head of yours Wilson"
"I know exactly where I'm going to take you"
