the pogues and mr & mrs heyward were standing with me at the airport, saying goodbye to pope as he left for his scholarship.
"i'm going to miss you like crazy." i didn't want to let go of our hug.
"i'm going to miss you more you know." pope whispered.
"impossible." we pulled apart and kissed one last time before he left. i cried into kie's shoulder and she hugged me. he waved goodbye one last time before he left.
we all went back to the chateau and i lay on my bed.
—a few months later
i sat on the couch, watching some show on dead bodies, so i could talk to pope about it when he came back. i tried to call him but most of the time the power was out in the cut so we struggled to communicate. i heard the door open, "hey jb!" i yelled, shoving a handful of popcorn into my mouth. with no response i turned around to see pope, standing in the hallway. i got off the couch and ran to him, hugging him tighter than anything.
"i missed you so much."
"i missed you more." i whispered into the crook of his neck.
"impossible." he smiled.
