Third Person's POV
"Go!" Kakashi commanded as Naruto went out of his hiding place and grabbed hold of a cat. Sasuke and Sakura followed but only watched as the cat tried to scratch Naruto.
"Target apprehended" Sasuke said to his radio
"Is there a red ribbon on the right ear?" Kakashi asked
"Affirmative" Sasuke replied
"Okay. Report back to the academy. Mission accomplished" with that, Team 7 walked to the academy. Naruto held Torah despite the cat attempting to scratch him. Naruto smiled
"It's okay, I won't hurt you. Be a good girl until you return to your owner okay?" Naruto said quietly in a soothing voice, Torah stopped scratching and purred as Naruto rubbed her head gently. This surprised Sasuke and Sakura, seeing the rumored 'Demon Cat' warm up to their teammate.
They reach the place in the academy where they are given missions. As they entered the room, Torah's owner directly took Torah
"Torah! Oh my baby, I was so worried!" she said as she squeezed the life out of Torah. Torah struggled to get out but she couldn't do anything about it. Torah's owner payed for the mission and left. Before leaving, Torah looked at Naruto with sad eyes, Naruto just smiled and waved
"See you around" he said, Torah meowed happily until they both left. Team 7 turned to the Sandaime and Iruka for another mission
"For your other mission we have tending the garden, taking care of a man's granchild and helping his wife go shopping-" Hiruzen was enumerating a few available D-rank missions but was cut off by Naruto
"Jiji! I've had enough of D-rank missions! Can we get a C-rank one?" Naruto complained, Iruka stood up from his seat
"Naruto! You can't just demand for a mission like that!" Iruka said, Hiruzen sighed
"Every mission is assigned to a suited Shinobi rank, you're still Genin so you're only to take D-rank and a few C-rank. A mission is carefully analyzed.." Hiruzen started explaining while Naruto turned to his team and sat cross-legged on the floor to start his own topic
"So yesterday, I had tonkotsu ramen.." Naruto said as his teammates listened intently
"Oi! Are you listening?" Hiruzen shouted, Team 7 turned to the Sandaime
"Sorry.. it was an interesting topic.." Kakashi said as he rubbed the back of his head and sweat dropped, Hiruzen sighed as he blew a puff of smoke from his pipe
"Come on Jiji.. give us a C-rank mission, we've done enough D-rank ones for a C-rank one, right Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto said as he looked at his sensei,
"Well, I guess you can say that.." Kakashi said reluctantly, Iruka was about to protest until Hiruzen chuckled
"If you insist then I'll give you one. Bring in our visitor!" Hiruzen said, the Genin of Team 7 were excited for this will be their first real mission that isn't chores.
The door opened revealing a drunk old man that wasn't that old, he leaned at the door's side and looked at the Genin of Team 7
"Huh? I asked for ninja but I get a bunch of brats? Can they even protect me? Especially the short one with a stupid face" the old man commented, Naruto looked at Sasuke then Sakura realizing that the old man was refering to him. Kakashi expected Naruto to burst but he didn't, instead Naruto just pointed a finger at the old man and said
"You're gonna regret that old man! I may not look like it but I'm a great ninja!" Kakashi smiled since he knew a little bit about Naruto's skills from the bell test. The old man clearly ignored Naruto not giving a damn and introduced himself
"I'm Tazuna, a master bridge builder. I need to go back to my county so you better protect me properly!" Tazuna said, Kakashi turned to his team and said
"Okay. Pack the things you need, meet at the main gate in 30" he said as the team went to their respective homes to pack
Naruto grabbed the things he needed and sealed them in a scroll. He placed it in his bag and grabbed a few extra weapons and placed some of them in his holster and pouch
"Finally. With this mission you can test your skills more" Kurama said, Naruto nodded in agreement
"Robbers and bandits can make good opponents but I wanna fight another Shinobi" Naruto said as he closed his bag
"This will be your first time fighting an enemy. We check first what mistakes you make in battle and correct them for you to improve. Then you can fight a Shinobi" Kurama stated as he crossed his arms. Naruto just sighed
"Please let an enemy ninja attack us" Naruto wished as he walked out of his apartment and locked the door.
Team 7 and Tazuna assembled at the main gate of Konoha. Naruto went out first and looked around saying 'Woah' here and there
"Naruto behave yourself!" Sakura scolded
"Sorry, this is my first time outside the village and I'm really excited!" Naruto exclaimed, Tazuna sighed
"Can I really trust this kid?" he asked Kakashi
"Don't worry, he doesn't look like it but he's pretty skilled" Kakashi explained with an eye smile, Tazuna showed a look of hesitation
"Right.." they then made their way to Tazuna's country, the Land of Waves.
They were already a few miles away from Konoha, Sakura spoke up
"Tazuna-san, what's your country like?" she asked,
"Not much, we're a small and peaceful country" Tazuna answered
"Doesn't the Land of Waves have Shinobi?" she asked, this time Kakashi answered
"Not all countries have Shinobi villages.." then Kakashi started explaining about the Great Five Nations, Naruto wasn't listening since he already knows about this.
As they went on, they passed by a puddle that both Naruto and Kakashi noticed but acted like it was nothing. 'A puddle? It hasn't rained for days' Kakashi thought as he let his guard up preparing for an attack. Naruto glanced at the puddle and used his sensory technique. 'Two chakra signatures.. can't they think of a better way to hide?' Naruto thought, then realization hit him, 'Could it be enemy Shinobi?' he thought excitedly
"Tch.." Kurama was upset that Naruto had to meet enemy Shinobi in his first C-rank mission. 'Don't worry Kurama. I can really test myself with these guys!' Naruto thought to Kurama who just rolled his eyes
"Whatever.. don't die"
'You got it!'
As Kakashi passed by the puddle, chains came out and wrapped around him. Ripping him to shreds, Sakura and Tazuna had terrified faces while Sasuke kept his serious face and Naruto grinned excitedly as he thought 'Judging by their chakra level they're Chunin'. Two Shinobi came out of the puddle, each with their own chains
"One down.." one of the two said, they then shunshined behind Naruto
"You're next" one of them said as they connected chains and try to attack Naruto. Naruto was about to defend himself with his kunai but Sasuke took a shuriken and threw it at the chain to trap it to the tree. He then threw a kunai to ensure that the chains won't fall off. Naruto stared blankly at Sasuke's doing and a tick mark appeared on his head, 'You stuck-up duck-ass haired Uchiha brat! That's my opponent! Don't try to show off you brat!' he thought angrily as Kurama laughed his ass off at what happened.
The two ninja detached their chains and had metal claws, one had the claw on his right hand and the other had the claw on his left hand. The one with the claw on his left hand attacked Naruto. Naruto jumped away to dodge but as he landed the ninja shunshined near him, Naruto jumped away again but got his left hand scratched. Naruto took out a kunai and aimed for his neck only to be blocked by the metal claw. The two weapons clashed as they fought, then Naruto jumped away and threw shuriken aimed at his neck, the ninja ducked to dodge but Naruto shunshined near him and gave him an upper cut causing him to spit a few blood. Naruto went behind him and did a few hand signs, he placed his right hand on his back and said
"Fūin (Seal)" the ninja froze and fell to the ground since his movements were restricted. 'Damn it! I can't move!' the ninja thought. Naruto went in front of him and crouched
"Eh.. you're from Kirigakure.."he said as he poked the ninja's forehead protector. He sensed another chakra and jumped away, he did a hand sign and said
"Kai" the ninja was able to move and tried to attack Naruto but fell unconscious as a hand chopped his nape
"What took you so long Kakashi-sensei?" he asked as Kakashi grabbed the unconscious body and rubbed the back of his neck as he sweat dropped
"Sorry sorry"
The ninja with the metal claw on his right hand was closing in on Tazuna, Sakura went in front with a kunai to protect him. Sasuke went in front of Sakura to protect them, as the metal claw was near Sasuke, the ninja fell unconscious and Kakashi grabbed the unconscious ninja. Sakura widen her eyes in relief
"Kakashi-sensei!" she said happy to see her sensei okay, Sasuke made a sarcastic look and thought 'Hn. Show off '
The two Kirigakure ninja were tied up. Sakura was saying things like 'Sasuke-kun you're so cool' to Sasuke. Kakashi turned to his Genin
"Sasuke, good job on your quick reaction, that was smooth. Sakura, good job on protecting Tazuna on instinct" Sasuke smirked while Sakura giggled. Kakashi then turned to Naruto
"And Naruto.." Naruto looked at his sensei curiously
"You did well on fighting one of them by yourself. I felt like I didn't need to intervene" Kakashi said as he gave Naruto an eye smile, Naruto grinned and thanked Kakashi. Sasuke crossed his arms and looked at Naruto, he rolled his eyes and 'tsk' 'Hn, that was just a fluke' he thought. 'Naruto did? No way that ever happened!' Sakura thought as she returned to adoring Sasuke. Tazuna sighed in relief 'So they did protect me..' he thought. Kakashi turned to Tazuna and said
"Tazuna-san, there's something I'd like to ask you. Why were Kiri ninja after you?" Kakashi asked, Tazuna hesitated but told him anyway
"Okay. I'll tell you the truth" Tazuna explained while the rest listened, Naruto was only half listening since he was trying to wake his tenant. 'Kurama, heal me!' Kurama didn't budge. 'Kurama? Kuramaa!' Kurama kept on sleeping. 'You lazy ass fox! Wake up will ya?!' this time, Kurama opened his eyes lazily
"What..?" he asked lazily, Naruto pointed a finger at him in his mindscape
'What do you mean 'what?' I'm hurt, ya know!' he told the fox, Kurama just glanced at him and closed his eyes
"Me being in here heals you automatically" Kurama stated matter-of-factly, Naruto had a tick mark on his head, 'I'm poisoned Kurama! The poison!'
"Poisons will be taken care of too, don't worry" Naruto crossed his arms, 'Why didn't you say so in the first place?' he asked
"When I said my chakra heals you I meant generally!" he shouted at the boy, 'Even diseases?'
"Yes, even diseases!" Naruto chuckled, 'I see.. thanks Kurama!'
"I'm going back to sleep.."
'Alright you lazy ass fox'
"Whatever annoying brat"
"Naruto!" a voice called, Naruto was brought back to reality to see everyone looking at him,
"Eh? What?" he asked confused
"Do you want to continue the mission or not?" Kakashi asked
"Eh? Why?"
"Turns out, this is beyond the scope of the mission. This is already a B-rank mission, it could put you in danger. So do you want to continue the mission or not?" Kakashi explained
"It's better if we return to Konoha, we're still Genin.."Sakura suggested, Naruto shook his head
"No. We'll continue the mission" everyone were shocked with what he said,
"We're already here and I believe we can get through this, right Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto grinned, Kakashi sighed but smiled
"If that's your decision then so be it. Shall we continue the mission?" Kakashi asked receiving reluctant nods from Sakura and a 'Hn' from Sasuke.
"But first, we need to fix your hand Naruto. Their claws have poison" Kakashi said pointing at Naruto's left hand, Naruto looked at his left hand, 'Kurama is already healing it though.. but they might be suspicious..' Naruto thought
"Oh, okay then" he said as he took a kunai and stabbed his hand, this surprised the others.
"Naruto! Don't be careless!" Sakura scolded, Naruto pulled the kunai out as blood flew from the new wound
"But this is the only way to remove the poison. If I'm right.. ouch.." Kakashi took out a bandage and kneeled to Naruto's height to wrap the wound, he look at the wound to see it healing quickly, 'It's healing.. it must be the Kyūbi' he thought, as he finished wrapping Naruto's wound he stood up and said
"Come on. We still have ways to go to the Land of Waves" Kakashi said as they went on to the Land of Waves
Heeyy, yeaahh. This is the beginning of the Land of Waves Arc. I'm excited. I originally wanted to put it in one chapter only but I have a limit of only reaching 1000 or 2000 words so yeahh.. look forward to next chapter!
