"Are you almost ready to go? We're gonna be late if we don't hurry!"
Jennie frowned as she stepped closer to you. She could see the sweat gathering by your hairline and you looked a little pale like the color was draining from your skin. Worried, she laid the back of her hand against your forehead. You didn't feel feverish, but you definitely felt warmer than usual.
"Maybe we should stay home." She muttered as she brushed her hands over your skin. "You feel warm and you don't look like you're feeling all that great."
"I'm fine!" You said quickly, causing Jennie to furrow her eyebrows. "Okay. My stomach is just a little sore, but that's all,"
Jennie shook her head and tried to reach for her phone in her back pocket. "Let me call Lisa, I'll tell her that we can't make it. They'll understand."
"No! Jennie, please don't." You pleaded as you gently took her hand into yours. "I really just think I'm hungry or something. Please don't cancel. I know how much you and the girls are looking forward to this. I'll be alright."
"And if you aren't?"
"Then I'll tell you." You said.
She let out a sigh and nodded in agreement. "Alright but you better keep your word on that." She said and took your hand. She brought it to her lips to lay a few soft kisses against it causing butterflies to fill your chest.
She intertwined your fingers and you headed out the door. She locked it behind you and led you to the car.
You relaxed in the seat, hoping that the ache would ease as time passed. You didn't exactly lie to her because part of you actually thought getting some food into your stomach would help. At the time, it was the only thing that bothered you. You didn't feel hot or sick, so you figured the ache would pass when you got some food.
But you realized that wasn't the case when you and Jennie stepped inside the restaurant.
It's one of your favorite spots. You and Jennie come here a lot for date night. It's fancy but cozy. Quiet and comfortable. So it seemed like the perfect place to come for a dinner with the girls!
A dinner to catch up a bit, since the girls have had some time off recently. They'd be getting back into the swing of things again very soon and their currently empty schedules would be hectic again.
But that's what tonight was for. A dinner to relax and catch up... and you really didn't wanna ruin that.
But the smell of the food wasn't the same as usual. It didn't make your mouth water in the way it normally does. Usually, you're excited to sit down and open the menu and order some food.
Now your mouth is watering because you feel sick. Because the smell is making your stomach turn. You dreaded sitting at the table with plates of food around you.
"Oh, there's Jisoo!" Jennie smiled and led you from the door over to the table where the girls sat.
She squealed happily when she was able to hug them. Jisoo was the first to come to you, but she froze when she saw you.
"You feeling alright, Y/N?"
Jennie lifted her head at Jisoo's question, watching you to see if you'd say that you didn't.
But you just shook your head and put on your best fake smile. "I'm okay." You spoke and hugged the girls quickly before sitting down just as your knees started to feel weak.
Jennie sat beside you and instantly became caught up in a conversation with Rosé. Lisa and Jisoo talked to you, asking you questions about what you've been up to and how you've been. They looked through the menus while you felt reluctant to open yours, but only did to make sure that Jennie wouldn't become worried about you.
You decided on something small. You thought you'd be able to get it down.
But when it was in front of you, you had to squeeze your eyes and take deep breaths to try not to be sick.
"Hey," Jennie whispered and placed her hand on your thigh, squeezing it comfortingly. "What's going on? Do you feel sick?"
You lifted your head. You were gonna tell her no and bite your tongue for the rest of the evening, but the look in her eyes told you she already knew you were feeling worse. There was no getting away with it.
"Yeah."
Jennie sighed as you lowered your head. She gently hooked her fingers under your chin and lifted it back up so your eyes would lock once more. "Tell me what's wrong, my love."
"I feel nauseous."
She nodded sadly. "Think you're gonna be sick?"
You shrugged. "I don't know. But the smell of the food isn't helping."
"We need to get you home then." She said as she grabbed her bag and started to look for her wallet.
"No, Jennie,"
"Stop." She whispered softly and started to caress your cheek. "This dinner is nowhere near as important to me as you are. The girls will understand too, baby. We need to get you home and get you into bed. Okay?"
You just nodded your head, knowing that there was no way you could say no to that. She was right.
Jennie cleared her throat to get their attention. The girls looked over at you both, surprised to see how much worse you seemed than before.
"I'm gonna get Y/N home. She's really not feeling well. Here's some money to cover our stuff, hopefully that will be enough,"
"Jennie," Lisa chuckled. "It's no big deal at all. You just get her home and get her feeling better. If you need anything from us you let us know."
She nodded and wrapped her sweater around your shoulders when you started to shiver.
"We hope you feel better, Y/N," Rosé added.
"Yeah, get lots of rest," Jisoo added before you both stepped out the door.
Jennie helped you into the car but before she started it, she looked over at you. Her heart broke to see you so miserable. It was really starting to show now just how terrible you felt.
"You said you'd tell me if you felt worse."
"I'm sorry." You mumbled and watched her shake her head.
"Don't be. Just remember that you can always tell me anything. You don't have to hide anything from me." She whispered softly as she brushed a lock of hair behind your ear. "We'll get you home and into bed."
You nodded and leaned back. You knew you had a good twenty minutes till you'd be home, so you closed your eyes and tried to get some rest in hopes that the sick feeling would ease just a little bit.
But it only seemed to get worse and you felt more and more uncomfortable with each minute that passed.
Thankfully, it wasn't too long before you arrived home.
Jennie helped you out and let you lean against her until you made it into the house.
She sat you down on the sofa and you whined when she let you go.
"I'm gonna grab you a glass of water. I'll be right back." She promised before she headed into the kitchen.
You found the sofa much more relaxing than the car. You leaned back against it and closed your eyes. So comfortable, you thought you'd actually be able to drift off to sleep.
But Jennie was kneeling in front of you and rubbing her hand along your thigh softly to wake you.
"Sorry to wake you, darling. Drink some of this."
You nodded and took a few slow sips before handing the glass back to her. She put it down and stroked your hair.
"Think you can make it to bed?"
"I don't know. I'm tired."
She nodded her head understandingly. "I know you are, baby girl. But we need to get you into bed. You'll be even more comfortable there."
You whined when she took your hand and helped you onto your feet. You leaned against her again and climbed the stairs slowly.
"I know you're tired but I just need you to stay awake for one more minute." Jennie cooed as she helped you to bed. "Just so we can change your shirt real quick. Get you out of those uncomfortable clothes and into my hoodie."
Your eyes lit up for a second when she came back over to you with her hoodie in her hands.
"Up, nice and slow." She encouraged as she helped you sit up. She helped you strip from your other clothes and then pulled the hoodie over your head.
"You look adorable." She said as she pushed your hair back and kissed the tip of your nose. She put her hand on your forehead and this time she knew you definitely had a fever.
"Alright. Under the covers."
"You're gonna lay with me right?" You asked, reaching out to take ahold of her hands.
"Of course. Let me just change real fast. I'll be back in a heartbeat."
You closed your eyes and started to drift off to sleep. You only opened your eyes again when she crawled into bed beside you. You craned your neck to look back at her.
"Shh." She whispered. "Go back to sleep."
"Okay." You mumbled, too tired to argue.
She held onto you but she kept her grip loose so she didn't make you feel worse. She ran her hand along your arm and even played with your hair until she knew you had fallen asleep a few minutes later.
"Sweet dreams, baby. Feel better soon."
She turned out the light and laid her head onto yours before she fell asleep, too.
