"Y/N-sama."
Mhm, those pancakes look really good, oh God.
"Y/N-sama, you'll be late for the ceremony."
Dang, I wish I could get one.
"Y/N-sama!"
"Yes! Yes?"
Your eyes shot open, looking around the room with a maid staring worriedly at you. What time is it? Did you sleep too much again? Damn, you knew you shouldn't have stayed too late last night to finish your favorite anime, but what else can you do?! Black Clover is damn hitting the spot!
Lazily rubbing your eyes, you remembered the ceremony today, a special gathering for all nobles in the Capital, and since you're from House L/N, you need to participate.
"Y/N-sama, your clothes are already prepared. Please, take your bath now. Your father is waiting downstairs."
Ugh, damn.
You smiled. "Fine, I'll be there in a few."
The maid nodded before leaving your room. Your feet descended to the floor before it carried you towards the bathroom. Well, you can't help but wonder, what's waiting for you in-store?

"That frigging ceremony is boring! Why am I even here in the first place?!"
You stormed out of the hall, hiding on the balcony to catch some fresh air. Okay, the ceremony started with a mass, then followed by speeches from all representatives from each house, and then another long story of–
"I'm never coming back inside!"
Face palming, you sat at the fountain edge, your delicate fingers playing with the water.
"A-Are you okay?"
"AH!"
You stood up from your seat when you saw a brunette appeared before you, a genuine smile plastered on his face.
"W-Who are you?!"
"Hi, I'm Finral Roulacase."
As your lips formed an O-shape, you slowly nodded your head before you let him sit beside you. The air around him is pretty calming and welcoming that's why all of a sudden, you found yourself opening up to him.
"What are you doing outside? You should be inside."
You smirked. "Well, aren't you too?"
Finral laughed with the remark, shaking his head. "It's boring...and suffocating inside."
His voice is mixed with a hint of sadness and disappointment, probably because it's only Langris that's being acknowledged by his family. Then, what's his purpose for coming here in the first place? If only his family can see that he's trying his best too...
"Agreed. That's why I ran off. What's with those stupid speeches anyway?! Are we here to listen to their biographies or something?!"
The brunette let out a heartily laugh, before standing proudly in front of you, holding out his free hand for a shake.
"I'm Finral. Nice meeting you...?"
"I'm pretty sure I heard you introduced yourself a while ago."
"But you haven't introduced yourself, that's why I'm repeating mine."
"Oh, is that so?"
Smiling, you gladly accepted his hand before shaking it slowly. Being close to him, you realized how cute he is, even though he looked flirty or something.
"I'm Y/N. Nice meeting you too...Finral."

Back to the present...
Today, the Magic Captains are finally recruiting members for their squads, that's why this is such a special and important day to you. You don't want to mess up. As much as possible, you wish to be accepted on the highest-ranked squad, the Golden Dawn, but if that'll be not the case, it's fine, as long as you'll get accepted and be a true Magic Knight.
You don't want to mess up. You don't want to give shame to your family that's why you'll obviously going to do your best.
After a long, long exhibition of magic and abilities, you are fortunately accepted under the Silver Eagles squad, led by Captain Nozel. While walking out of the Capital, you accidentally bumped into someone, a face you met years ago but reflections are still etched on your mind.
"Finral?"
"Y/N-chan!"
Rushing to his side, you gave him a surprise hug that made him blush a bit. "I missed you so much! How are you doing?"
"I-I'm a Magic Knight now, Y/N-chan!"
"Me too! Wait, Black Bulls? That's great!"
You saw the black robe wrapped on his shoulders that made way for you to conclude that he's on the Black Bulls squad. However, the smile on Finral's face immediately vanished as he flinched in his position.
"That's great?" He asked.
"Of course! I mean, you can now use your powers to save people and not to mention that Captain Yami saw something special in you. Isn't it amazing?"
Finral was taken aback by your words, he didn't expect it to come from you. Shyly, he scratched the back of his neck.
"B-But I'm still on the last ranked squad and–"
"What's the deal?" You chuckled. "Then you just got to do more missions to earn more stars! I'll be cheering for you, Finral."
That was enough.
He didn't know if he should believe you or not, because after all, he's just Captain Yami's wheels especially when he needs to use the bathroom. However, the look on your face is painted with confidence and reassurance. It feels like you're very sure of your words and there is no hesitation in your voice. From his point of view, all the things you told him are all sincere in pure.
This made him a little bit confident to confess.
He saw everything earlier: the way you showed your magic attribute and abilities to all captains and other people around you, you caught his heart off guard. In his eyes, you're so mesmerizing and satisfying to watch. Four years ago, he felt that too when he first saw you on the balcony of the castle.
It's now or never.
"Y/N-chan, can I...can I tell you something?"
You hummed. "Well, why don't we go somewhere private? I know a place."
"Right. Good idea."
As you led the way, he followed you behind with fidgeting fingers, trying his best to gather his courage to confess. He wants to make sure that he wouldn't mess this up. If Finral ended up rejected, well, what can he do? It's your feelings and it's valid. Only you can control and decide for yourself.
You stopped in a very beautiful place, a spot wherein you can see the whole view of the Capital.
"I used to sneak in here when I was younger," you stated. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"But you're more beautiful."
You caught Finral staring at your beauty, disregarding the view in front of him. Fully facing the brunette in front of you, you grabbed his shaking hands.
"Is there a problem? What is it that you're going to tell me?"
He tried to avert his gaze from you, trying not to get lost in those captivating eyes of yours.
"I...I'm scared to confess, Y/N."
Your eyes grew bigger. "T-To whom?"
"To you."
Blinking twice, you tried to process his words. "B-But why?"
"Because I was just barely accepted on Black Bulls squad and I'm not that confident on my powers and magic. I'm just the Captain's wheels. What can I do? I am not powerful to protect you that's why I'm so scared..."
He finally looked into your eyes.
"...I'm so scared that you might reject a useless human like me. After all, I knew I'm nothing compared to my brother, Langris, and–"
Interrupting him with a sudden kiss, you wrapped your arms around his waist, savoring this very moment. It kinda pissed you off, that he's degrading himself, and it wanted you to boost his self-confidence. You want him to realize how precious and special he is.
"You're wrong, Finral." You whispered. "You're not useless, and there's no way I'll reject someone as precious as you."
Smiling, you hold his hand, bringing it to your chest so he can feel your heart beating so fast for him.
"I like you too, and I want you to be more confident about yourself that's why I will help you. I will help you realize that your institution about yourself is wrong, okay? Don't you dare degrade yourself again or else I'll slap you with my grimoire!"
Finral chuckled, snaking his arms on your waist before pecking your lips once again. Damn, who knew that his kisses would be as soft and exciting as this?!
"I take back what I said earlier, I don't like you. I love you."
You smirked, pinching his nose. He's so adorable.
"Well, let me take back I said too. I don't like you. I love you too, Finral."
