The similarities between P'li and Combustion Man are striking if one really does think about it:
Both we're the tallest known fire benders of their series.
Both appeared and died in Book III of their respective series.
Neither of them survived to the Season finale.
Both died by somehow imploding on themselves thanks to their power.
