Y/n's POV // 7:30 am // spring 24 Wednesday
It's been a couple weeks since I came to Pelican town.
The egg festival was fun, I won.
It's real peaceful and quiet here.
Jacks been liking it a lot.
"God.. I don't have to dance do I..? No I dont" I spoke to myself, staring at my reflection.
I wore a pale brown sweatshirt with a white collared tee under, also wearing a black skirt and knee high socks along with some dark green high top converse.
I'm probably gonna have to take off the sweatshirt at some point.. it is getting really hot..
"Aba ah.." Jack sat up on my bed, playing around with a pillow.
He was wearing a frog onesie.
I don't think he wants to change..
"Alright, lets get going to the festival shall we? The farm works all done and were all ready.. anything else?" I asked Jack as I picked him up in my arms.
He pointed to our new orange tabby cat.
"Right! Teriyaki's water bowl! Thanks for the reminder"
We stepped outside, the cat following right behind.
I quickly filled Teriyaki's water bowl eith water and pet him before standing back up and walking to the festival.
I still had my backpack and sword with me of course.
As I was walking towards the forests, Robins voice called behind me.
"Y/n! Hey!"
Beside her was Maru and Sebastian.
Maru wore a white dress, it danced around in the wind as they walked.
Seb wore an entirely blue suit.
I nearly laughed but kept it in as I felt bad for the tired boy.
"You've met my son Sebastian, right? He lives downstairs"
I've only spoken to him when he passed by the farm that one time..
Usually when we see each other it's just exchanged glances and nods.
"Well yes I have, good to see you again" I smiled over to him jokingly, knowing that we've met back in Zuzu.
He only nodded before looking away to the trees.
"He's a little shy, but I'm sure he'll warm up to you if your nice to him" Robin whispered over to me.
I giggled quietly at her before Jack yawned.
"Tired? Maybe stop crying all night and we'll both get some sleep" I groaned slightly at the toddler.
Man was it exhausting to take care of children..
Sometimes I forget Sebastians the dad..
"How do you manage to take care of Jack all by yourself? I was barely able to take care of these two WITH Demetrius.." Robin groaned as we walked to the dance.
"I'm.. im not sure actually.. but I did it somehow right?"
Guilt washed over me as my eyes led over to Sebastian.
He looked real guilty aswell.
Though he had no reason to be..
"Are you gonna dance Y/n?" Maru jumped in.
"Nope, I'll just watch on the sidelines, but have fun out there!" I smiled over to the family before running towards Pierres stand, buying a single flower to put in my hair as I only realized that it was a mess.
"Hey! Y/n!" Sam called me over.
Him and Abby were standing in the corner where all the food was, I walked over to them.
"Your not dancing Y/n? There's a small after party later on in the night, dance with me then?" Abby pouted.
"Sure sure, but then again I have to take care of Jack" I sighed.
"Jeez you never catch a break do you? Sometimes I just wanna choke the dad of Jack" Abby groaned.
I looked over to Sebastian who was standing in the corner behind Sam and Abby.
"no no! It's fine! I was the one who left anyways.." I coughed and laughed it off.
"Wait why? Did he do something bad? Did he hurt you? Did he force you into it!?" Sam stepped closer, pointing to Jack.
"No! It's nothing like that!"
The air that surrounded us suddenly felt tense.
A notification rang from my phone.
Sebastian
Sebastian: I didint actually um.. hurt you did I..?
"Who's that?" Sam leaned closer.
"N-no one!"
"The dad!?" Abby yelled.
UH.
"No!" I yelled.
Well actually yeah.. but I'm not telling them that.
Sam and Abby backed off.
No you didint, it's okay
Sebastian: It's not okay..
I coughed before looking back to Sam and Abby.
"It's nothing"
All of a sudden, Lewis yelled out for the dancers and the three sighed before walking to the dance floor.
I could tell none of them wanted to be here, Sam with his allergies, Abby with her dress, and Sebastian.
He probably just didint wanna be there in general.
Sebastians very sweet.
That's all I know.
At first glance he might not look like a very approachable person.. but he's actually very respectful.
I'm interested in learning more about him.
But it's not a love sort of thing, it would still be nice having him around.
I watched the dance, feeling a bit lonely.
Abby and Sebastian glared at eachother as they danced, looking real annoyed.
I could tell they had the brother sister type relationship.
Though everyone that danced looked perfect.
Should I have really gone here?
Everyone had their own small groups while I sat alone.
"Ah.." Jack cooed.
Right..
Not alone..
But with him.
Jacks the only hope I have here..
It's good for him.
I don't want him growing up in a plastic society.
But then again..
Maybe that's why people avoid me..
A single mother..
It's not like I haven't heard what people have been saying around town.
'Does she not know who the father is? Did she really sleep around like that?'
'Poor her.. how's she gonna make it out here while taking care of a child..?'
'I wonder if she was forced into it..?'
They didint bother me..
the harsh names from Haley just angered me instead of bringing me down.
'Slut'
'Whore'
'Toy'
Never mind..
Maybe they did..
It's always those same three words that made me feel useless.
But Jacks always here to remind me that's not true..
I gotta make sure he lives happy..
The sound of clapping pulled me out of my trance.
The dance had finished and everyone had started walking to the food table.
Abby, Sam, and Sebastian came back aswell, "you gonna stay for the after party?" Abby asked.
"Maybe.. but I'll probably just sit down for he entire thing"
"Aw come on.. dance with me!" Abby pouted, holding one of my hands, shaking it frantically.
"But-"
"I'll hold on to Jack for you" Sam smiled.
"But-"
"Ah ah ah, no buts, your gonna enjoy yourself wether you like it or not" Abby pointed her finger at me, wanting a dance.
I sighed before agreeing and leaning on the fence.
"I'll go get ya some cake! Sam carry the drinks!"
Abby and Sam walked to the food table, leaving me alone with Sebastian.
"I'm sorry.." I hear him mutter from beside me.
"What for?"
"I just feel like I have so many things to apologize for.."
A long period of silence came after his words.
"C-can I hold him..?"
I stared at the emo.
I know he wants to help..
But I just feel bad for making him do this..
"Sure.."
Seb took Jack from my arms and into his, Jack reaches out for his face and cupped Sebastians cheeks with his hands.
I giggled at the sweet sight.
"I like his onesie" Sebastian smiled.
That smile..
It's been so long since I've see it..
Last I saw him smile was when we were back at the hotel.. talking about our problems and such..
"Ada" Jack cooed.
"Oh? Oh? Say dada"
"H-he hasent sais his first words yet?" Sebastian looked at him in surprise.
"No.. he just turned 2 in the winter"
"Da ah.."
"Dada" Sebastian repeated.
I smiled at him in surprise, my heart melting at Sebastians need to get Jack to call him his dad.
After a bit, Jack gave up.
"You'll get it someday.." I sighed and patted the small child's head.
"Hey!... sebastian?" Abby looked at Seb in shock, Sam aswell.
"Wow never thought Seb would wanna hold a kid, you two have met already?"
"Yeah! back in- back.. back.. i-in.. the mines! We met back in the mines"
I almost exposed are first meetup..
"What were you doing in the mines?" Sam asked seb.
"I wasn't in the mines.. I was just.. outside.."
"Was Jack in there with you" Abby asked in worry.
No.. I wouldn't put him in danger like that..
I've been in the mines before, Robin volunteered to babysit him while I got my work done.. though I didint see Seb outside the mines..
"No.. Robin volunteered to take him for a bit"
"R-really?" Sebastian asked.
"Yeah, you didint see him?"
A look of guilt showed on his face.
So he didint..
Alright, that's fine.
"Anyways.. let's eat and hang out! I wanna dance!" Abby handed me a plate, a piece of cake sitting in the middle.
I looked to Sebastian, he was occupied with Jack as the two were both now sitting on the ground.
I sat down aswell, Abby and Sam soon after.
"Jack likes Sebastian Huh? I wonder why.." Sam sighed.
Jack didint like him very much.
Sebastian ignored him, putting his attention on Jack and his cake.
Jack cooed, reaching out for him.
Sebastian raised his hands in front of the toddler, waving it around for play.
I smiled.
"Da!"
JACK.
NOT NOW.
"Is he trying to call Seb.." Sam muttered.
"Sebastians eating! D-don't bother him he might choke" I picked jack up in panic, setting him down in front of me.
He frowned, clearly he wanted to hang with Sebastian more..
"Ah ma"
"Say mama!"
"Ahh am"
"Mmmaaaa...mmmmaaaa" I said slowly.
The three started snickering at me.
Only then did I realize how stupid I must've looked.
"S-sorry.. I'm just trying to.."
My voice began to whisper, feeling my face get hot from the embarrassment.
"Ahma"
"It's alright" Sam smiled.
"Ma"
"Yeah, it's natural for you to want Jack to say his first words"
"Ah! Ma ah!"
"I know it's just-"
"Mama!"
Wait.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?"
"Ah.." Jack looked down.
"NO SAY IT AGAIN, I HEARD YOU! I PROMISE IM LISTENING THIS TIME!"
He turned his head, looking irritated.
"Please..? Please please? Say it again! For me!" I moved so Jack would look at me.
"Ma.."
"Yes?"
"Ah.. mama"
My heart skipped a beat, feeling my eyes tear up in joy.
I raised my hands to my mouth, sorta like a praying position, staring at my son in bliss.
"You said it.." I managed to squeak out.
"Whoo! Yeah!" Robin yelled, I only realized that everyone had gathered around us.
The crowd cheered and Sam, Abby, and a others clapped for Jack.
Jack reached out to me, cupping my cheeks.
"Mama"
"Yes yes, I'm here" I smiled at him, rubbing my eyes.
Maybe.. it's not so bad here..
