***********************

Oh my goodness. So a selection of the previous chapter didn't upload correctly and you all are probably confused as hell. I fixed it, so go look back at the part when Luna picks Amber up from school. I'm sorry, Wattpad has been a real bitch lately. I dunno if any of you are experiencing issues, but I am. x..x

************************

"Who are all these gifts for? Your wife?" Luna asked with a scrunched up nose as she drove Amber to school the following day.

Amber frowned at her from over the batch of flowers and present which sat in her lap. "Just a friend," she replied.

Luna rolled her eyes. "Mhm."

Amber huffed at her. She could think what she wanted, even if she was right. Amber was just happy she hadn't bugged her much about the gifts.

Luna dropped her off and Amber practically skipped into the school. She was so excited, she couldn't stand herself. She needed to hurry and give the gifts to Hailey, because it was about time for her morning detention.

Once inside the building, Amber literally ran to Hailey's classroom. She came to a halt at her doorway and slowly peeked inside. She found Hailey squatted in front of a shelf of books. She was grazing her finger down a stack as if she was reading the sides.

A smile crept on Amber's lips as she tip-toed her way into the class. She was discrete as possible as she snuck up behind Hailey.

Her girlfriend luckily hadn't noticed or heard a thing, because she jumped when Amber leaned over her shoulder.

"Hello, beautiful," Amber said warmly as she leaned over the back of Hailey.

Hailey let out a laugh and Amber watched as the blush appeared on her cheeks. "Oh, Amber. You startled me!" She exclaimed before pulling a book out from the shelf and standing.

Amber grinned and once Hailey was facing her, her eyes grew slightly wide. "What is all this?"

"It's for you," Amber said quietly. She could feel her own cheeks now flush as she handed the gifts to her. "Merry Christmas, babe."

Hailey's face lit up, making Amber feel all warm and jittery inside. She took the gifts and scanned them over. "Amber! You shouldn't have."

"But I did!" She beamed.

Hailey pressed the tulips up against her nose and they kept the smile on her face. "They're lovely!"

Amber leaned in to peck her lips, and after returning the small kiss, Hailey headed towards the door to shut and lock it.

"Well I got you something as well, and I told Joshua he didn't have to come to detention so we could get some alone time," Hailey gushed.

Amber's heart fluttered. She was so adorable!

"Awesome," Amber commented as she made her way to Hailey's desk which the woman had sat on top of. She thought of how bad she would have felt if Hailey had given her her gift, and she had nothing to exchange it with. She was extremely thankful for Joel and his kindness.

"Can I open this?" Hailey asked with an indication to the wrapped box.

Amber nodded excitedly as she stood between Hailey's legs and in front of the desk.

She watched Hailey rip open the present, and Amber prayed she would like what she unwrapped.

Her prayers were answered, as a grin grew on Hailey's lips once the present was open. "Oh, Amber..."

She stayed quiet as she watched Hailey gently lift the scarf from the box. She held it up to her face to examine it.

"Do you like it?" Amber asked in an extremely quiet tone. She figured the woman did by the look on her face, but she was still nervous.

"I love it!" Hailey beamed, making Amber yet again blush. "You're so sweet, babe. Come here," she said as she leaned back on her elbows.

Amber did as told and took a step closer since she was already close to her teacher. She leaned over her and set her hands against the desk as support as she kissed Hailey intently. She ran her tongue along her girlfriend's tongue ring, and softly moaned as Hailey gave Amber's lips a graze of the warm tongue.

Amber gently pulled away to face Hailey's grin. "Ready for your present now?"

Amber nodded with a small smile and she leaned back to stand erect.

Hailey hopped off the desk and ran around to the back of it. Amber watched as she dug through one of the drawers. She then produced a tiny box with a red bow on the top.

Amber couldn't help but grin herself as Hailey walked her way. She handed her the small box, and Amber eagerly took it. She was careful in opening it as she popped open the box to reveal what it held.

There rested a silver ring which had a tiny, bright, red diamond at the top.

"Hailey! This is beautiful," she remarked as she pulled the ring out of the box.

She heard Hailey giggle. The woman took the box from her hands and set it aside. Amber couldn't believe what Hailey had given her. The diamond twinkled against the lights above them in the classroom.

Amber began to slip on the ring, but Hailey stopped her.

"Wait, can I put it on you?"

Amber smiled flirtatiously. "Of course," she replied as she handed her the ring.

Hailey smiled back and took the ring as well as Amber's hand. She watched as her girlfriend gently slid the ring around her finger.

After she was finished, Amber held up the hand to admire the way it fit perfectly. "Thank you so much! I love it," she said truthfully.

Hailey's warm lips were suddenly on her pink cheeks, making them even pinker.

Hailey leaned back and Amber turned her head to face the woman. "I love you," Hailey whispered.

"I love you, too."

Hailey yanked Amber into her arms and pulled her into a tight hug. Amber wrapped her arms around her teacher's waist as she hugged her back.

They only stood in that position for God knows how long. As cheesy as it sounded, Amber never wanted to be let go of, or let Hailey go.

*************************

The school day was a quick one, and Amber slammed her locker shut. She was prepared to stroll on to Hailey's classroom, when someone hopped in her way.

Of course it was Asher. He grinned widely at her and fixed his hair.

Since it was looking like he wasn't going to say anything, Amber spoke up. "Hi, Asher."

He nodded his head at her. "How was your Christmas?"

Amber stared at him. He most likely already knew it was horrid, but she lied anyways. "Just fine. Yours?"

"Good, good," he replied with a sly smile. "Hey, I got you something."

Amber blinked. "You did? Why?" She spat without thinking.

He made a hurtful expression, but Amber couldn't tell if he was faking or not. "Because we are pals," he said simply.

"Oh. Well, okay," Amber said, not really intending to be rude.

Asher grinned from under his long bangs and whirled his hand around wildly. Amber caught something in his hold, but didn't find out what it was until it was held out in front of her.

Asher held a glass rose in his hand, and Amber was confused as to what it meant. Out of all things...

She forced an excited smile. "Awe, Asher! It's gorgeous," she said as she gently took the rose from him.

He leaned back on one foot and gave her a cocky smile. "I know, I know."

Amber ran her fingertips along it before looking back at him. "I'm sorry, I don't have anything for you."

"It's alright!" He suddenly shouted. "Christmas is about giving, not receiving!" He hollered even louder and playfully smacked Amber on the shoulder, causing her to flinch.

She watched as the boy began to skip around in circles while yelling, "Christmas is about giving, not receiving!" His words seemed to be stuck on repeat as he continued to yell the phrase over and over again.

Amber joined in with the other students as they stared at him. He must have either not been aware of the looks he was getting, or simply didn't care as he continued prancing around.

"Christmas is about giving, not receiving!" He proceeded to shout.

Amber stared at him for a moment longer before running off. That boy freaked her out. She wondered how many things were fucked up in that odd head of his. He must have at least a handful of mental issues.

Amber finally reached Hailey's classroom, and had escaped the echoing of Asher's continued shouts.

Her woman smiled at her presence. She motioned for Amber to shut the door, and after she had fully entered, she did.

"What is that in your hand?" Hailey immediately asked after Amber had shut the door behind her.

She looked down to the glass rose and shrugged. "Oh, Asher gave it to me."

Hailey was standing by her desk and leaned on one leg then set a hand on her hip. "Asher, huh?"

Amber raised an eyebrow at her. "What do you mean?"

"Just...what did he give that to you for? And why a rose?"

Amber took step closer to her. Was she getting jealous? "It was for Christmas, and I don't know," Amber said with a chuckle.

Hailey held out a hand and Amber slowly placed the glass rose in her palm. She watched as she inspected it and looked it over by turning it between her fingers.

"This is quite cheesy," she finally commented.

Amber scowled at her and took the rose back from her. "It was nice." She didn't know what Hailey's issue was, but it was irritating her.

"I didn't say it wasn't nice," Hailey said with a small smile.

Amber ignored her as she went over behind her desk and plopped down in her chair. She appreciated the fact that Asher had thought of giving her a gift, even if he was weird as hell.

Hailey eyed her. "What you doing?"

Amber giggled flirtatiously as she spun in the swivel chair. "Nothing."

Hailey walked around the desk to join her. The woman took a seat in Amber's lap and Amber wrapped her arms loosely around her to keep her close.

"What did you do for Christmas?" Amber asked.

"I went to my parents' house to be with them and my cousins."

Amber felt her own kind of jealousy arise. She wished she was able to do the same.

"Amber?" Hailey asked to abruptly cut through the silence which had been created.

Amber shook her head and focused back on Hailey. "Yeah?"

"Are you okay?"

Amber sighed and rested her head on Hailey's shoulder. No, she was not okay. But she wasn't going to tell her that. She knew Hailey over-analyzed and worried about every damn thing.

"I'm just fine, dear. Yourself?"

Hailey huffed and made hard eye contact with Amber. "Amber, don't say that."

"Say what?" Amber slowly asked, clearly not keeping up with Hailey.

"You're not okay..."

Amber looked down. If she knew already then why did she ask?

Amber found herself to be staring into Hailey's brown eyes as the woman lifted her chin. "How can I help?"

Amber gently grasped her hands into her own. "Hailey, you've done so much for me. There's no way to thank you."

Hailey sighed. "I just feel like since I know what's going on, I need to be stopping it. But I just don't know how."

Amber frowned at her. "Please don't think like that."

Hailey immediately dug her face into Amber's shoulder and found a resting spot there. Amber stroked her hair and back as she was clung to. Amber wasn't sure if Hailey was crying or not, but she really wished she wouldn't act this way.  Did she not see all that she had done for Amber?

They sat and quietly talked over this for the rest of the "detention" time. Amber dreaded the idea of leaving, but knew if she didn't get outside, Luna would march in herself and drag Amber out by her hair.

Her and Hailey kissed for a good three minutes before Amber insisted she go. Hailey was about in tears, and Amber was upset, but nowhere near upset as she was. She didn't understand her sometimes. She would randomly get upset and she was always blaming herself for things.

Hailey's eyes were filled with tears when Amber left the building. She had been going on about the fact that they hadn't seen each other for two weeks, and she was saying how much she was going to miss Amber.

Amber continued reminding her they would be seeing each other tomorrow, but for some reason, that wouldn't calm her down. She proceeded to go on about how her and Amber needed more time together, that if they were dating, they had to see each other more.

Amber was bothered by the truth being admitted, but knew there was no choice. Luna simply had too much power.

Speaking of the devil, Amber climbed into the car with her. She had hidden the two gifts she had received in her backpack for safety reasons. She knew if Luna saw either of the presents, she would bother her nonstop and she really wasn't up for that shit.

"How did your gift giving go?" Luna asked as she drove them to the house.

Amber ran a hand through her messy hair. "Good," she said simply.

Luna smirked, but Amber wasn't sure what that was suppose to mean, but frankly didn't care too much. Her mind was once more corepted with Hailey. She couldn't help but wonder if Hailey felt like they were distant.  Amber didn't feel that way, but she could understand how Hailey would. They never got too much time alone, considering all their circumstances.

They finally reached the house, and Luna had held in all her normal doces of bitching. Amber hopped out of the car and ran inside quite quickly. She of course did this to get away from Luna, but also because of the harsh cold.

As soon as she entered the warmth of the house, she began to dart up the stairs to her bedroom. She didn't get too far as she was suddenly called back by Luna's voice.

"Amber, you forgot your backpack!"

Amber muttered angrily from under her breath. She only wanted to be left alone!

She headed back down the stairs and right before she took the backpack from Luna's hands, the woman purposely dropped it from her grasp.

Amber gasped. "Hey!" She yelled and somehow caught the bag in mid-air. She knew that if it had hit the ground, the glass rose would have shattered.

Luna eyed Amber once she looked back up at her. She didn't know what the hell had just happened. Did Luna really intend to drop the backpack? If so, why? She couldn't have known about any of the presents.

"Why, Amber. What was that?" Luna asked with a small smile.

Amber glared at the woman as she clutched the backpack close to her chest. "What do you want from me?"

"I want your heart, Amber. But we all can't get what we want..." Luna said as if that were a normal sentence.

Amber felt her eyes widen without permission. "You want...you want..." She could only repeat. This woman was sick!

Luna laughed cooly. "I don't literally want your heart, Amber. But I couldn't complain about you being dead, and I don't think your father would either. He left you, didn't he?"

Amber was so confused as to what was going on. All she knew was that tears were filling her eyes already. What was making Luna say these things? Amber hadn't done a thing to deserve this! She didn't believe that this woman was her aunt, it was just impossible.

Without knowing what to say, Amber grunted at Luna and rushed up the stairs, ignoring the loud chuckle from her.

She slammed the room door behind her loudly and slid down it as she began to drown herself in her own tears. She continued to tell her mind that her dad didn't intend to give her away, but was that true? She was alone!

She stood up so quickly she began to feel dizzy, but she ignored that factor as she yanked warm clothes on to replace the stiff uniform. As she changed, her eyes caught a hold of the large glass windows in her room. Suddenly, an idea came to her. What if she were to escape? She could get away successfully, yes?

She could break through the window and tie all the sheets of her bed together to slide down from. She stepped over to the window and peered out of it. If she tied her sheets to the window and climbed down using them, Luna would never know she was gone.

Hailey had been right. Amber wasn't okay, and she never would be by staying here.

She didn't know where she would go, but she had to try- she had to try to run away. She couldn't stand this hell anymore. This was her chance.
