"O-Odana-sama!!" Takami-san shout in frantic and shock
the annex room has the old man lie dying with sickle pierce in his chest but in the sliding door has a slicing motion. Seiichi sigh look around the room while Kogorou told them to not enter the room he confirmed that the old man already died since rigor mortis hasn't set in yet, it's been less than 30 minute since he died
"But what the sickle doing in here?" Kogorou ask in confused,"I though the Gunma police were examine it"
"Since we examined it and found any blood when they examined it earlier,i though it was unrelated tot he case so iput it back in the store house and sent forensic home" Yamamura-Keibu informed
"I see. so the culprit could have taken the sickle at anytime..." Kogorou say
Conan point something weird make them look at him and he point at the sliding door who cut with the sickle sticking out the old man, Yamamura-Keibu confirmed it true and he ask why there blood above the cut?
"A person bound to bleed if you cut them..." Yamamura-keibu say
Conan comment if there a blood on the door that mean he stabbed the old man before cutting the door, and then stabbed the old man again
"Y-You right..." He say
"It's an act..." Kogorou ojii-san make them look at him,"to make it look like Kamaitachi really did it..."
Hattori enter the room turning on the light asking is it also in the act preventing the light from turning on, he explain that the annex breaker were swtiched off and there were a strange mark left where the culprit entered
"Strange mark?" He ask in confused
Hattori gestured them to go outside and he point at wehre the culprit enter since the glass is broken
"So where the stranger mark?" Kogorou ask
"Those are footprint leading from veranda to the fence, but see how shallow semicircle of the snow had been duged out next to it?" Hattori ask pointing at the snow
Kogorou comment that maybe the culprit erased his footprint with the blade of the sickle but Hattori told them the real problem is lies beyond the fence
"Beyond it? You don't mean..." Kogorou trailed
"Take a look. The semicricle is end in here..." Hattori point and look at the outdoor bath,"in other word, when the culprit comitted the crime-"
"He ran across the water as if he was raiding the wind" Conan complete Hattori deduced
Seiichi who was in the back noticed the people disbelieve make him hummed covering his mouth with his phone who slowly turn into grin, Daigo-san shout about Kamaitachi
"don't be stupid." Hattori say turning his cap,"this must be some kind of trick a flesh and blood human,of course"
'oh my~ it really turn into an intresting case but it's shame that it is a work of human...' Seiichi though
They go back to the inn only got asked by Ran and Kazuha that Kamaitachi is appeared make Hattori ask how did they know
"Yamamura-Keibu just come-" Kazuha say
"and told us..." Ran compelete Kazuha sentence
Tehy look at Yamamura-Keibu who write in his notebook that the suspect is Kamaitachi make them look at him deadpan, Hattori tell them that it was just an idiot pretending to be Kamaitachi
"but wasn't it Kamaitachi that destroyed the room we decored?" Kazuha ask
"The fluorecent light suddenly shattered, and all the ballon we put up popped" Ran reasoned
Conan chirped up that it was BB pallet from the room inside make them look inside, Kogorou ojii-san ask Tamaki-san to confirm that her late husband played survival game and she nodd in truth
"Where is the air gun now?" Hattori ask
"Aside from the valuable, all of my husband possesion are in the storeroom" Takami-san say
Hattori look at her deduced that the culprit must have taken it from the storehouse and shot trough the sliding room
"One of section can be flipped open..." Hattori say open the paper
"But even though there were ten ballon, they popped at the same time" Ran say
"no one could do that in the dark..." Kazuha comment
Hattori say that it might be enough shot probably pop ten but Conan didn't think it was BB pallet that popped the ballon since there only 3 on the floor. Conan begin to noticed a werid smell make Hattori enter the room
"What's wrong?" He ask whisper
"Do you smell something?" Conan ask
Ran told them to be carefull since the shard of the bulb still on the floor, Conan noticed his clockwatch flashlight going out make him take out his phone but then he accidently playing the audio make them flustered
"What about me?" Kazuha ask
"Not Kazuha, C-Cooking (Okazuya)" Hattori say in flustered,"doesn't it smell like someone cooking something?" He ask in flustered and whisper to Conan,"You're killing me here"
"Sorry..." Conan apologize
Seiichi who heard still amazed by how Hattori can make a pun suddenly but then he was an Osaka person so it's no surprised
"That's not food that the smell of a bathroom or cleaning detergent...also,it was cold because it got covered in rainwater or something" Kohei-kun say
Kazuha also wondered about that since the window weren't even open, it was weird but then Kogorou ojii-san say that nobody did it since the old man screamed, they were all standing in front of the room.
"But i'm impressed you knew it was the old man just from that scream" Conan prased
"i just though it might be and asked the landlady for confirmation.." Kogorou say look at Tamaki-san
She say that she heard a similar scream before make Hattori ask when and where, she remembering that it was when the TV stationc ome to report on the inn, they were offering free foot massage to their guest but with the Camera around the guest declined the offer so the old man had no choice but to get the Massage
"The way he screamed in pain the sound was very similar to that scream" Takami-san say
"You recorded that program,didn't you?" Yamamura-Keibu ask
"yes.you should see it on the office" She say nodding
Kogorou ask her to lead the way while Hattori ask them to stay in one room leaving them alone. Seiichi narrowed his eyes tap his earring
"Hugo, search that footage..." He command
'Yes,sir..'
Ran and Kazuha noticed Seiichi didn't follow them make them confused and he smirked wave his hand turning to his phone
"They will solve it soon maybe... beside, i have bunch paperwork to do.." He say waving his phone make them understand
Ran and Kazuha talk to each other when Kazuha ask about Hattori say 'what are you doing to my darling Kazuha' make Ran surprised and Seiichi raised his eyebrow
"D-did Hattori-kun really say that?" Ran ask in surprised
"I might be little off, but that more or less what he said" Kazuha say
"What did Hattori-kun say after that?" Ran ask
"He managed to threw me off the scent" Kazuha say then she averted her eye,"but i think Heiji might..."
"he might..." Ran leaned in anticipant the same with Seiichi who look at her
"might actually think i'm his henceman" She say make them dumbfound,"Master say that kind of stuff all the time in historical drama like,'don't touch my darling henceman"
Seiichi sigh pinch his birdge nose exhaling,'oh go.. how dense can this girl be..' he thoug
Ran grab her shoulder in firm,"i don't think Hattori-kun think you're his henceman" she say in determined voice nodding
Seiichi grab their shoulder,"Anyway, we should go back to the room..."
"Y-yeah..." They say in unison
They go back to the room saw the other people, Ran and Kazuha talk to the guest while Seiichi in the corner with earphone on watching the program with his glasses and listeing to Conan, Hattori and other discuss using Hugo who attached to his brother glasses, he saw the recording and indeed the sound was the same make him narrowed his eye
"Hugo... you record the voice from that time,right?" He ask in whisper touching his earring
'Yes,sir... everything what happened audio and visual is held in the file...'
"Great, analyze these two audio..." He command
'yes,sir...'
Not long he smirk by the result,"Hugo... send me the record of koyanagi Midori and Daigo Nakama who stay in here and send the analyze result to Onii-sama phone"
'Yes sir...'
Conan who was in the office talking more like discuss he got message from his brother make him open his phone wide eye in surprised tugging Hattori clothes
"here... from Seiichi" He say showing it to him who surprised
"You know, he is terrifying person.." Hattori comment in sweatdrop make him snorted
Takami-san say that Koyanagi-san come ocassionally but Daigo-san stay all the time come to think of it, they were both here that day one year when Kohei nearly got drowned in the outdoor bath make Conan surprised
"The storehouse was first broken on that day,too between taking Kohei to the hospital and the police arriving, it was total chaos" She infromed them,"i didn't even have time to clean the outdoor bath that day"
Kogorou ask if tree of them do something strange on that day but not in particular only they do seem a little different this time previosuly Daigo-san didn't have mustache and Koyanagi-san wasn't wearing any glasses
"Couldn't they just have felt like changing their apperance?" Yamamura-Keibu ask in deadpan
"you right.." She respond
Seiichi who listen the conversation and looking at his brother view hummed silently continue to listen the talking
"The snow isn't letting up,though" Kogorou comment look outside the window
Hattori realized it's been one hour and twenty-eight minute they found the body and if they didn't solve the problem soon, the snow will change the area around the crime scene make Yamamura-Keibu ask how did he know exact time since it dark for a while
Hattori pointed his watch to him saying that his watch is painted with luminous paint that allow him see in the dark but he stop in middle of the sentence realizing making ee contact with Conan who had smirk in their face
"um,it might be in bad time but since it's cold, would you like some kudzu gruel?" She ask offered
Seiichi turning off the view and audio from his brother glasses since he know those face, those face who already found the trick and solve the problem. He take off his glasses and put it in his pocket strecthing his back relaxing for a minute smirking
'i can not waiting for your performance, Hattori-kun and Onii-sama' He though
Not long, they call them to follow them and Seiichi of course follow them leaving Ran and Kazuha alone in the room, they arrive at the outdoor bath saying that they want to re-create the incident
"yeah. Upon hearing the old man scream, we cam to this outdoor bath, which is the shortcut to the annex where he was staying but since we had to cross the bath to get to the annex, we decided to exit the inn and come back in through the backdoor instead" Hattori say taking the soap from the ground,"naturally, it was after we confirmed there were no transparant platform in the water" He throw the soap to the bath then he go toward the door,"now let's go outside and head to the Annex through the back door"
Kogorou ask Conan who still stand in there but he shake his head saying that it's cold and Annex if far away the same with Seiichi who waved his hand make him go outside leaving them alone, Hattori and other arrive at the annex and indeed he re-create the incident
He open the front door,"the break were switched off, and it was pitch black inside" he go inside the room stand in front od the ripping door,"when we turned the light, we saw the cut on the sliding door" He open the door,"And when we entered the room, we found murdered old man,this is how it went.right?" He ask for confirmation
"Yeah. but what is this supposed to tell us?" Kogorou ask
"Doesn't it mean tehre someone who could gotten here quicker..." Conan say make them surprised,"than the people who took the back door.."
kogorou ask what is he doing in here and he explained taht it was faster come from outdoor bath, they go outside to the bath surprised saw Seiichi standing in non-clant manner wave at them
"Can you really do this?" Kogorou ask
Conan begin to run through the water shocking them didn't expect that but then Kogorou ojii-san put his leg into the bath and it immeditaly sunked into the bath make Yamamura-Keibu help him get out from the bath
"Why the water so slimy?" Kogorou ask
"it's kudzu gruel..." Hattori say make them confused,"Yeah. though to be precise,it's in phase between the liquid and solid before it become kudzu gruel. It's phenomena known as dilatancy, if you apply a weak gentle force, it feel like a sludge like liquid but if you apply a strong froce at once, it become rock hard like solid"
Conan run back to them and explain how Kohei-kun said nearly got drown when he tried to chase after Kamaitachi taht because the water then was the same as right now
"it's like bottomless swamp" Conan say look at the bath make Kogorou agree
"So the culprit come through here?" Yamamura-keibu ask
"Yeah..then they met up with us after killing the old man.isn't that right,Writer Koyanagi Midori-san?" He ask point at her make them surprised,"that's why you switched off the Annex breaker and cut the sliding door. it'd be easier for you to meet up with us if we were distracted by the sliding door when we turned the flashlight"
Kogorou ask about Kudzu powder because it would take a massive amount of kudzu powder to make the special water but then he continued explain.A few days ago, the store house was robbed she must stolen it
"But what is she going to do with all these kudzu powder in the water?" Kogorou ask crouching down
"The water in this hot spring flow directly from the source with enough time, it would be wash away on it's own" Hattori say
Takami-san ask the person who destroyed Kohei birthday party decoration was Koyanagi-san Hattori confirmed
"If she didn't cause a fuss to draw the corpse away from the store house, she couldn't get the sickle" Hattori say
Daigo-san ask how did she pop the ballon make Conan answer that it was using water gun make them look at him in confused, he explained that Kohei-kun say it smelled like a bathroom detergent or something, it was probably the smell of lemon or something maybe she put the fruit juice in the water gun and shoot it, fruit juice dissolve the robber used in ballon
"The missing watergun probably belong to your late husband,too... didn't you keep it in the storehouse along with his airgun?" Hattori ask
"Yeah..." Takami-san confirmed look at Koyanagi-san
Koyanagi-san remembered them that before the incident, someone cut her cheek in the storehouse and she wasn't standing near the light bulb when it broke
"besides, couldn't anyone else have performed the trick you just described?!" She ask in desperate
"Chewing Gum..." Conan comment make her look at him,"you stuck some on the light bulb,right? while deliberately bumping your head on the lampshade and pretending to be annoyed. My science teacher said if you stick something on the surface of an old light bulb to create differences in temperature, they become prone to shattering" Conan explained make Seiichi snort,"besides, the culprit probably used Heiji nii-chan luminous watch, Seiichi nii-chan who protect me from getting cut and the light from Kogoro Ojii-san cigarette to cut them from darkness but why were you cut when you didn't have anything that produce the light?"
"B-Because..." She stuttered
"Because you cut yourself..." Hattori say make her flinch,"with a box cutter blade or something similliar you have hidden in your fingernail, you could hide the blood on your nail by pressing it to your face and smearing blood in your hand"
Hattori also explained that she give opportunity to go to the storehouse in the first place, she made us believe there could be Kamaitachi and call the police then she used watergun and air gun to destroy the birthday party room, in order to draw the police away from the store house where the sickle was kept, when they were gathered in the front of the birthday room, she played the old man scream. She recorded the old man scream from the TV report with a smartphone or something and set it on the timer
"to finish things off, while we were heading to the annex through the back door, she ran across the water arrived at the annex before us and stabbed the old man till death with sickles then she cut the sliding door, switch off the breaker and meet up with us and if police officer was among us, the police would prove for you that you couldn't have comitted a crime. Did i get anything wrong?" He ask finishing the deduced
Seiichi sigh leaning at the fence looking at Koyanagi-san in livid declined the deduced saying that they're no evidence to prove but then Conan point it out that she normally wear contact maker her confused
"The landlady said you weren't wearing any glasses before, i heard on TV that people who aren't accustomed to wearing fake nail have trouble putting the contact..." She say make her surprised liek a deer caught in daylight,"is that why you're wearing glasses todday"
"Which mean normally you don't wear fake nail, you probably don't have any spare" Hattori say go toward her,"which mean it should be still stuck in your fingernail" He grab her finger,"the blood from when you cut me, Mouri-no-occan and Seiichi"
Hattori let go of her hand and she ducked her head in defeat,Takami-san ask why she kill her father in law, she told her about her mother also has chapped hand from being tormented by that old man
"Does that mean the cook who was cruelly fired by the old man was..." Yamamura-Keibu trailed
"Yes. she was my mother.." She confirmed make them surprised didn't expect that
Koyanagi-san continue to explain that her mother look for a new job right away but word had spread that she beedn fired from here no one would hire her, she worked so hard to feed me in the end she died 2 years later
"Why she fired?" Kogorou ask in confused
"Because the master of this inn, who was good friend with my mother offering her a marriage proposal. the girl was the only daughter of another inn. If they got married, they could merge their inn and expand their bussiness" She explained
"T-That mean..." Takami-san trailed in surprised
She leaned at her that if not for her, her mother wouldn't have to suffer and died the way she did, Takami-san also one of her target make her surprised but when she saw those chapped hand she decided not to
"Besides,i don't want the boy who nearly drowned in the outdoor bath to experience what i went through"She admitted
Hattori ask if she the one who send the photo of Kamaitachi to the magazine and yes she want to see if she eally could walk on the water and she though if the rumour spread about Kamaitachi, guest would be stop using the outdoor bath making it easier for her to execute her plan
"But why Kamaitachi?" Kogorou ask
"Because her hatred was driven by her mother chapped hand" Conan say
"Indeed..." Seiichi comment make them startled,"Kamaitachi legend was originally tough to come from cuts on the skin created by the vacuum in the center of the whirlwind, but now the estabilished theory is that the sudden cooling cause by heat of vaporation cause the skin to split open and become chapped.That's why Kamaitachi ;egend are common in the snowy region"
The case closed and the morning come, Conan show hattori that the file already got deleted make him rufle his hair but then Ran ask him about what he said 'what are you doing to my Kazuha?'
"This again?" He ask in deadpan stare,"it wasn't 'My' (Ore-no), it was 'You bastard' (Onore). i said 'You bastard,what are you doing to her?" He confirmed make them surprised,"Kazuha like a darling little sister to me"
Kazuha yell to him saying that he was an idiot and leave Seiichi,Conan and Hattori alone in hallway.
"no matter what i see, you have amazing pun dictionary in your mind.." Seiichi comment got a swetdrop from Conan and a proud look from Hattori
