3rd POV...

After the team showered, they all went back to their dorms to prepare for the party where all players and teams in The Goodwill Games would be seen, along with sponsors, like Mr. Tibbles, and some journalists.

Julie, Connie, and Victoria were all crammed in their small shared bathroom all trying to put on makeup that matched their dresses. Victoria puckered her lips to make sure her lips were all covered in the light pink lipstick while Connie was brushing mascara on her lashes and Julie brushed over her cheeks with blush.

The three girls already had their hair done and jewelry on. Connie had put Victoria's hair in a sleek bun while Julie had her hair down and a gold heart barrette in the back of her hair while Connie had braided half of her hair while the other half hung down.

Victoria then walked out of the bathroom, going to put her dress and heels on which were on her bed. Victoria slipped on the long dark purple dress, pulling the spaghetti straps over her arms on to her shoulders. Her hands ran down the skirt of her dress, bumping over the black flowers as she smoothed it out. Then she sat on her bed, fixing her grandmother's pearl necklace on her neck before putting on her open-toed heels with ankle straps.

Connie then came into the room with her white vintage dress with tiny red roses on it as she fixed her earrings while walking to her bed to put her white open-toed heels with ankle straps.

When she got her shoes on, she turned to Victoria, "Hey do ya mind if ya fix my bow?" Connie then turned around for Victoria for her to fix the giant bow in the back.

"Ya," Victoria then stood up and fixed the bow on Connie's dress on her lower back. "Do ya mind if you zip me up?" Victoria turned around for Connie who carefully zipped up her dress.

Julie then came out of the bathroom with her white heels clicking on the wood floor of the room as she fixed the transparent flowered sleeves on her cream dress, "Guys! Come on!" She whined, placing her hands on her hips.

"Ya, ya, Jules, we're coming." Victoria and Connie then started for the door.

"Wait! Does everyone have their own keys?" Connie then hopped in front of the door, stopping Julie and Victoria leaving.

Victoria then pulled out her key from inside her dress, "Mine is in my bra." She shrugged before putting it back.

"Same with mine." Julie nodded her head in agreement.

Connie then turned to open the door as the three all stepped out of the room. Victoria then closed the door to her shared room before the three walked to the party in the almost dark night.

At the party, there was a loud chatter in the room as music played from a band nearby. Mr. Tibbles was shaking hands with a female journalist in a red dress while Team USA was standing around in a circle drinking some sparkling water in champagne glasses.

Adam and Charlie laughed at Fulton's joke he made about a chicken before going to drink another sip of sparkling water.

Two hockey players stood in the corner of the room, staring at Team USA, "Þvílík sorglegt afsökun liðs." (What a pathetic excuse of a team) A taller blond scowled at the team from afar. The blond had broad shoulders and a big body as his suit complemented his skin, making his blond hair stand out. His hazel eyes pierced daggers at Team USA.

The shorter brunette with long hair that stopped at his chin scoffed, "Þú ert að segja mér, Ólafur. Þeirra eins og galla!" (Your telling me Olaf. Their like bugs!) He then smoothed out his suit coat and fixed his black bow tie.

The blond named Olaf lowly chuckled as the corners of his lips curled, "Já, já, ég get ekki beðið eftir að troða þeim í okkar leik." (Yes, yes, I can't wait to squash them in our game) Then he leaned against the wall.

The brunett boy was looking away from the team when he saw three girls coming down the staircase the join the party when they stopped and waved their hands to hurry up and join them. A light brunette girl in a dark purple dress decided to join the two other girls.

The boy was star struck by her beauty, "Hey, ég kem aftur eftir eina mínútu." (Hey, I'll be back in a minute) He said without turning to Olaf who ran his fingers through his blond hair.

"Allt í lagi." (Ok) The brunett boy started slowly making his way through the crowd of people to find the beautiful girl who caught his eye.

"Seriously, Vic, there is nothing to be shy about," Connie started, placing a hand on her shoulder while Julie walked on the other side of her. "Your absolutely beautiful." She smiled at Victoria who fixes the strap of her dress on her shoulder.

Julie then placed a hand on her other shoulder, "Ya, Connie's right." She smiled as they walked further into the crowd of people.

Victoria then looked down at the ground, "I'm gonna get some air." Victoria frowned and turned around, breaking away from Connie and Julie, going to a nearby wall to lean on.

Huffing, Victoria put her foot against the wall, to fix the ankle strap on her heel, "Hvað er falleg stelpa eins og þú að gera í horninu?" The brunett stopped in front of Victoria who looked up.

Her face scrunched in confusion, "Huh?"

The boy then chuckled, looking down to the floor before speaking again, "I asked what's a pretty girl like you doing in the corner?" He replied in English with his accent.

Victoria blushed slightly while smiling, "Um well, maybe I'm waiting for the right dance partner." She shrugged, taking her foot off the wall.

"Flattery," He smiled, taking her hand and kissing it. "I like that." He smirked.

Victoria smiled widely, "Charm," She paused, her hand still in his. "I like that." She mocked with a playful smile painting her face.

The brunett chuckled before holding his arm out, letting go of her hand, "May I have this dance, I think I hear our song."

Victoria laughed, "Our song?" She raised a brow.

"Ja, our song." He nodded, still holding his arm out.

"Yes, you may have this dance." Victoria finished with a chuckled while wrapping her arm around his.

The brunett led Victoria to the dance floor, where people were starting to dance to the band, Victoria's ears perked up to the familiar tune. The brunette then held up Victoria's hand while he placed his on the small part of her back, bringing her close, while Victoria placed her hand on his shoulder.

Her heartbeat started racing as she looked into the brunett's eyes, "I know this song," She mumbled. "Close to You by Neon Trees."

The brunett chuckled, Victoria could feel his laughter vibrate through his body, "I don't know this song, but I already love it." The two started swaying to the music.

Victoria smiled, "Lonely eyes been watching me, I can see what you want me to see," Victoria started singing along quietly as she stared up at the star-struck boy looking down at her. "I wanna be close to you." She mumbled as their noses brushed against each other.

The brunett extended his arm, slowly spinning Victoria around, causing her to laugh with all of her teeth showing before he slowly brought her back towards him.

Together, they continued to dance to the music being played by the band on the stage nearby. Victoria still continued to sing along with the song while the brunett stared at her in awe, completely star-struck and in love with this girl whom he didn't even know.

The brunett then placed his hands on her waist, hoisting her into the air as he spun her around, "Gimme fire! Gimme fire! And burn all your silhouettes!" Victoria giggled while she flew in the air.

The boy then gently sat Victoria on her feet before they continued to sway with her head on his chest, eyes closed while his chin rested on top of her head with his eyes closed.

When the song ended, the two were in the same position. They were broken away by people applauding them nearby. The two looked up at the dancers smiling and applauding them and returned the big smiles to them.

The two then faced each other, stepping back, "What's your name?" Smiling, he grasped her hand in his.

"Victoria," She fluttered her lashes. "What's yours?" Victoria stared at his crooked bow tie and decided to straighten it.

"Gunnar," Gunnar said in his thick accent. He then took his finger and brushed her cheek.

"Gunnar!" Someone called out from the crowd, making his head snap back.

"I have to go," He said with worried eyes. "I hope to see you soon." He smiled before slowly leaning in, he then placed a kiss on her cheek before pushing through the crowd, leaving Victoria speechless and red.

In embarrassment, Victoria ran back to the same wall she first met Gunnar at, "Vic!" Julie called out for Victoria while pushing through the crowd. When she found Victoria, she ran up to her. "Vic, there you are!" She huffed and placed a hand on her chest, over her heart. "Connie and I were worried sick."

"Ya, I'm fine." Victoria nodded and reached behind her to make sure her hair was alright.

The two then went back to the party, over to Team USA where Connie had her head on Guy's shoulder with his arm wrapped around her waist. When they arrived back, Connie lit up again and ran over to hug Victoria before all the boys started complimented Victoria on her dress.

The journalist with the red dress came up to the team slowly, not wanting to interrupt anything, "Hi Team USA," She smiled, making the team all look at her. "I'm Melanie Schwartz from the Los Angeles Times," Everyone said hello to Melanie before she pulled out a piece of paper and pen. "I just need to ask your Assistant Coach some questions." Everyone nodded as Victoria walked away with Melanie, a little ways from the group.

"So, Miss Schwartz, what type of questions do ya have for me?" Victoria clasped her hands behind her back.

"Oh, just simple basic questions," She smiled, flipping open her notepad and clicking her pen. "My first question is about your past, how long have you been an Assistant Coach?"

"Well, it's gonna be a year at the start of the hockey season this year." Melanie nodded her head, staring at her notepad while scribbling down Victoria's words.

"Ok," She mumbled, nodding her head and finishing writing down Victoria's words. "My second question is to clarify something I heard," She looked up at Victoria, waving her pen in the air. "Before you moved to Minneapolis, you lived in Michigan, outside of Grand Rapids where you attended a middle school, is it true you were the cheer captain for the school's cheer team and you had to leave on the day of your District Competition?"

Melanie bit the end of her pen, waiting for an answer anxiously, "Yes that is true." Victoria nodded her head at Melanie, she scribbled down her reply.

"My third question to you is if your in any form of relationship with anyone right now? And if so, then who?"

"Well, if you count brothers and best friend relationships then my two brother figures are Charlie Conway and Fulton Reed. My two girl best friend relationships are with Connie Moreau and Julie Gaffney and my boy best friend is Adam Banks."

She nodded and scribbled down her words before looking up again, "My last question is that everyone is saying hateful things about you like you being too young, immature, and not knowing what you're doing, how do you cope with these hateful comments?"

"First, I've never heard anything like that before, and second if I did hear about those things then I would still keep doing what I do best at and ignore those haters." Melanie nodded her head before writing down everything.

She then snapped her notepad closed, "Ok! That should do it!" She smiled, clicking her pen closed. "Thank you for letting me interview you." He held out her hand for Victoria to shake.

Politely, she shook her hand back, "It was no problem at all."

"Good luck with your next games!" She smiled before walking away into the crowd of people.

Her mind started thinking about what Melanie said. The haters despised me. She didn't know what she was doing. She was too immature. Everything's just started swirling around her head as she walked back to the team who were all chatting still.
