But what if something happens. She is ill. Her face too looked pale.
I had to take her to the doctor. But this ego of mine.
Nothing will happen to her. She will be fine.
I stopped the car and groaned in frustration.
"Why can't I take you out of my mind Ev?"
"What is wrong with you Ev?"
"Fine. I'll keep aside my ego and I'll take you to the doctor after the meeting. I can't see you like this. It hurts. UGH!!"
I then took out my phone and called Frank.
He picked up.
"Hello Sir."
"Frank did you drop you umm... did you drop Ev." I asked.
"Yes sir. She went inside now only."
"Is she okay? I mean she was sick so.."
"Yes sir I think she is fine. But her face still looks pale. She is not like this usually. She talks a lot but today she didn't say a word. She was just sitting silently."
"Okay. Thanks." I hung up.
What has happened to you Ev?
I have to do something.
I started my car.
The whole time I was driving there was only one thing on my mind.
Ev.
This girl is making me crazy.
When I reached Simon Corporation. I went in. The meeting will be held here. I saw employees of my company waiting there for me. I went to them.
They all greeted me. "Good morning sir."
"Morning. Everything is ready."
"Yes sir." My assistant Kate said.
I nodded.
Then I started looking here and there. Just to get a glimpse of my Ev. Just to ensure that she is okay. I saw Cassandra going up. I called her. She turned around and smiled at me and made her way towards me.
"Hey. Alexander. You are here for the meeting right? Of course what am I asking you are here for the-"
"Have you seen Ev?"
"Ev. Ya she was with me a few minutes ago then she went to the meeting room."
"Is she okay?"
"Well she is pretending that she is okay but I don't think that she is. She was looking really pale in the morning. I asked her she said maybe it's because she ate a lot of chocolates. I even told her yesterday to go to the doctor but that bitch never listens to me."
I raised my brows. Did she really called my Ev bitch?
"Language." I said in an angry tone. Nobody calls her that.
"Chill dude she is my friend. She too calls me that."
"I don't care. You are not calling her that in front of me at least."
"Okay fine."
"You can leave now."
"Rude." She mumbled in a low voice but I still heard it.
I rolled my eyes.
I went back to where everyone was standing. My eyes were still searching her. If by luck I see her.
"Sir these are some files can you please take a last look at them." Kate said.
I took the file from her hand and started looking at it. Still distracted.
After I checked the file I saw a woman coming towards us.
"Good morning Mr. Knight." I looked at her and handed over the file back to Kate.
"Morning."
"Mr. Knight I am Mr. Simon's assistant my name is Sophie. Everything is prepared for the meeting, Mr. Simon is waiting for you in the meeting room."
I nodded.
She guided us to the meeting room. When we were close to the room. I saw the door of the meeting room opened and a woman ran out of there covering her mouth.
Ev?
I don't know what Blake's assistant was talking. I don't even remember her name. There was just one name going on in my mind the whole time. Ev.
"Mr. Knight this way please." She said when I was just standing there looking in the direction where Ev went just now.
"Umm.... You all please go in. I'll just join in few minutes." I said and went to check on Ev.
I waited for her. Finally she came out. She looked more pale than morning. She saw me and stopped on her way.
"Xander."
"What is wrong with you? Did you threw up again?"
She thought for a moment and shook her head "No. I am fine."
"Ev don't lie to me. You threw up right?"
She bit her lip and nodded her head.
I took a deep breath. "How many times did you threw up? In total and don't you dare lie to me again."
"Four." She said.
"What? Four. Are you crazy and you didn't tell me. How can you be so careless?"
She kept looking down.
Ya why will she tell me, I was busy being angry.
I put my hand on her forehead to check her temperature.
"You don't have a fever."
"Ev we need to go to the doctor now." I held her hand and was about to pull her when she stopped me.
"No. Xander I am fine really."
"Fine? Have you looked at yourself? You look so pale Ev. We have to go."
"Xander the meeting."
"To hell with the meeting. I don't care about the meeting, you are more important."
"But I care. Xander we can go after the meeting. Please this meeting is really important for me."
I groaned in frustration. "Why don't you ever listen to me? Ev we need to go to the doctor for your check up I don't want anything worst than this to happen."
"Xander nothing will happen. Please try to understand."
"God! You are so stubborn. Fine but after the meeting we are going."
She nodded smiling. Her smile also looks pale.
Fucking Alexander Knight. Look at her. It's all your fault. You were careless. You should've taken her to the doctor yesterday.
It hurts to see her like this.
We went inside the meeting room. I sat on my seat in front of Blake. I looked at Ev, she sat on her seat and gave me a pale smile as if telling me that she is fine.
The meeting started. I was trying my best to concentrate but my eyes every time went to Ev.
I know she is not at all feeling well. She is just trying to show that she is fine. I have never seen her in this condition and looking at her face now makes me feel guilty.
"Mr. Knight." Someone called. I looked in front to see an employee. "Is this okay?"
What is okay? I don't know. I just nodded. Then he again continued.
I again looked at Ev she was rubbing her forehead.
Is she okay?
Is her head hurting?
Is she feeling dizzy again?
"Eveline your turn." Blake said to Ev.
Ev nodded.
I looked at Ev she got up from her seat and stood in front started explaining her project.
God! She looks really pale. I was just staring at her. Whenever her eyes landed on me she smiled at me trying to show that she was fine.
I want to leave. Now.
"Alex." I looked at the direction of the voice. It was Blake "Is everything alright? You look distracted." He whispered.
I have to get out of here.
"Blake can we have this meeting later. I-"
I was cut off by a scream. "OH MY GOD!"
I looked at the woman who screamed, following her gaze I saw her looking in the front I turned to see Ev. She had fainted. I ran to her and kneeled in front of her. Held her in my arms.
"Ev!"
"Ev!"
"Ev open your eyes."
"Ev!"
"Ev look at me. Open your eyes please. Ev." I kept shaking her holding her in my arms her head was resting on my chest.
It's all my fault.
"Ev get up please." I started panicking.
Blake gave me a glass of water. "Take this and sprinkle it on her face."
I did it. My mind had stopped working.
Her eyebrows furrowed together. Slowly her eyes started opening.
"She is opening her eyes." Blake said.
"Xander." She muttered as soon as her eyes opened.
"Eveline are you okay?" Blake asked.
She nodded slowly.
I sighed in relief. My eyes were filled with tears by now.
She looked at me and said "I am sorry for scaring you again I didn't know I would faint."
I stared at her in disbelief.
What is this girl? She is in pain but still she is worried about me.
I hugged her tightly. "I am sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I am sorry." She kept saying.
"No. It's okay." I said kissing the top of her head. I pulled away from the hug "You are okay right?"
She nodded.
"We need to go to the doctor now."
"Bu-"
"Not a word Ev." I turned to Blake. "We'll have the meeting later. I need to take her to the doctor."
"Of course." He said.
I picked her up in bridal style and started walking.
"Xander I am fine. I can walk on my own."
"Didn't I ask you to shut up." She nodded and kept quiet.
I took her to the doctor. The whole ride she didn't utter a single word.
Good.
After testing her the doctor went to get the reports leaving me and Ev alone in the room. Ev was laying on the bed. I was sitting beside her on a stool holding her one hand.
"Xander I am really sorry. I really didn't wanted to scare you." She said.
"Did I say anything to you?"
"But you looked scared back there. I am so sorry."
"Ev will you stop blaming yourself. Stop it. When I should be the one to be blamed here. If I had took you to the hospital earlier then this would have not happened. I was careless."
"No Xander please don't say that. I forced you to finish the meeting. I was the one who..."she stopped when the doctor entered the room with the files.
The doctor smiled looking at us.
"Doctor is everything fine. Is she sick? She eats a lot of chocolates is this the reason why she threw up. I swear Ev if this is happening because of those stupid chocolates you are not getting anymore of them." Listening to me she frowned.
The doctor started laughing.
"You both are so cute."
What the hell! I am here worried as hell and she is finding this cute.
"Excuse me." I said.
"Congratulations Mr. Knight! Your wife is two weeks pregnant."
My eyes widened in shock.
What?
"P-Pregnant?" I stuttered.
Pregnant.
Ev is pregnant.
Child.
My child.
Father.
I am the father.
I am going to become a fucking father.
